Caliban Antares was a human male litigator and former soldier from Coruscant who served as a Junior Senator in the offices of Coruscant's Senatorial representative in the United Protectorate.
BiographyBorn into a family with little in the way of money, he enlisted in the Imperial Military and applied to the Imperial Judicial Academy on Coruscant. Though his scores were more than good enough to get him enrolled, his application was rejected and he was sent to active duty on the completion of his training. Two years later he was involved in a training accident that left him injured and incapable of active duty. Returned to Coruscant, he applied once more to the Judicial Academy, this time being accepted into the program. He graduated at the top of his class, and began serving as a litigator, till he learned the truth about his rejected application to the Academy. It so turned out that his application was rejected in favor of another applicant who hadn't scored anywhere as well as him, but had the power and wealth to buy himself a seat int he Academy.

Shaken by this revelation, he resigned his commission and left the military, becoming a civilian lawyer and ultimately rising up through the ranks to become a District Attorney for one of the seedier districts of Coruscant. His actions there greatly bolstered his reputation within the judicial circles on the planet and that along with his growing popularity within his district lead to him being hired by the office of the Senator. Though in the times of the Empire the position was little more than a tittle, the exposure working in the Senator's offices would provide was one he could not turn down. When the position opened up a few years later, he was appointed as one of the Junior Senators working under the Senator, a role he continued to serve in when Coruscant became a part of the United Protectorate. Now he had even more power to affect change.

With the formation of the Republic, and the actions of the Senator resulting in Coruscant's expulsion from the new organization, Caliban decided to run for his position and work to earn Coruscant place in the Republic.

Personality and traitsCaliban is a pragmatic young man, with a dark sense of humor, an optimistically idealistic view of the world, and firm moral compass. But within the lines that he is not willing to cross, he is persistent and stubborn enough to never back down from doing what's right.
Powers and abilitiesOnce a trained and accomplished soldier, his injuries have left him a shell of the man he once was, with words being his only weapon now. His way with words and the knowledge of the judicial systems of Coruscant and various other other worlds in the Galaxy have given him the opportunity to affect true change and improve the life of people around him, much more than he ever could have as a soldier. A true case of the pen being mightier than the sword.
