Endor - Social Thread - Open to any Rebels/Jedi

Liam and a group for forty or so rebels had been going through combat drills for the last few days. They were now done, but surprisingly little of them had gone to sleep when they had gotten back. They lounged in a mostly empty hangar, their commanders had decided to give them relative freedom for the night.

Some were drinking, some were boxing, some were just lounging around, all were in pretty good spirits. Soon they would be off to somewhere else, the fighting would continue as it always did but for tonight they all pretended there wasn't a war out there.

Liam sat on top of a crate watching two of his fellow soldiers box when someone passed him a flask, he took a drink before looking down at the flask, "What is this!?" he said laughing at the foul tasting liquid before passing it on to the next one.

A round of cheers went out as one of the boxing soldiers got rocked, stumbling backward but remaining on his feet before gathering himself and landing a punch of his own.

Liam looked around the hangar and smiled at the good spirited room.

It has been a while since the Duke had a chance to kickback and relax. Jedi training really took a lot out of you, and couple that with helping the Galactic Alliance with whatever it was they needed help with, and it was high time to just chill. It was nice to see everyone else taking it easy too, they all deserved it after the shit they had to deal with. Plus, it was high time he gave his knives the attention they so richly deserved, which was the thought that brought him to this particular moment in time as he sharpened his blades on a whetstone.

He accepted the flask being passed around just as a cheer went up. Darion glanced in the direction of the fight, just as the supposed underdog of the fight landed a solid blow, almost laying out the other soldier. Darion took a swig, and just barely swallowed it down. "Hell if I know man!" He replied to the question most likely not directed at him, chuckling all the while

"Mahoney did you piss in this flask?" He called out to the original proprietor of the custom silver flask he was holding in his hands. The soldier received a round of good natured ribbing form the other relaxing soldiers as Duke passed the flask along to the next person.

He looked to the soldier who had given him the flask, put away his blades and sharpening kit, and held out his hand, "Darion Duke."

Calath was one of the Rebels who had taken part in the combat drills. Without using his lightsaber. He wanted to do the drills without using it, and that he did. The teenager during his short time wondering around so far had somehow come to the conclusion that he should not even show he had one. So it was hidden on the inside of his jacket.

He was just sitting on a crate next to Darion watching the boxing match. Somewhat minding his own business. That was until the flask was handed to him. Was it even legal for him to drink? Well it is not like anyone would notice if he took a small sip. So young Calath did just to find himself coughing like crazy after drinking some of whatever it is in the flask, "That was terrible!" He commented as the teenager handed the flask to the next soldier.

The teenager glanced over to the two other jedi whom are clearly older than him. Half expecting them to tear into him about drinking whatever it was in the flask. If Ashlyna were here she would be tearing into him the moment the flask was in his hand. But then again she nor his adopted father are here and well what they don't know won't hurt them.

"I don't know what that was in that flask. But the stuff my dad drinks tastes better than that." He commented as Calath picked up his canteen of water and gulped down a mouthful to wash out the lingering taste of what was in the flask. Then he figured he should introduce himself, "Oh.. I'm Calath Draykon." He told Darion and Liam.

Alexei was only recently brought into the idea of having the Force in him, so for now he had been doing his best to try and connect with that weird almost small voice in the back of his head. It would yell at him to do somethings sometimes but most of the time he couldn't quiet get how to actually connect with it. But it wasn't like he had a whole lot of people to turned to in these kind of situations.

Still having watched several people start doing some boxing, and drinking, a small smile grew on his face. Definitely reminded him of his time in his youth, when he would just leave his house and do whatever he wanted. Plus it was a nice change of pace considering they just spent a couple of days working out like actual professional soldiers.

But seeing a group of soldiers passing a flask, he figured to wonder towards them. He only had a dark green shirt, with camouflage pants, and boots. Already Alexei was sweating a bit after having spent two rounds of boxing with someone. He had a slight bruise on his left cheek now, though it wasn't hurting much so it was mostly ignored.

"Hey so you mind if I took a swig of that?" He stood slightly over this young man, who was trying to pass it over.

His hand reaching already for the flask though, but if he was denied he would be somewhat hurt.

Harkam got hit with a right hook straight to the jaw and for a moment there he could see the stars as vividly as when he was fleeing Naboo- faintly he heard his fellow rebels cheer his opponent's hit and as Harkam stumbled backwards that cheering only got louder. The stars then disappeared and his vision cleared up as he saw his opponent's guard lower to the weequay's midriff. A mistake

Closing the distance quickly, Harkam threw left direct to the weequay's nose and followed it up with a mean right jab to the body. Their fellow rebels cheered again, this time for him and a grin appeared on his face. "I got the crowd now, Tulo, you-" the weequay threw a left hook that Harkam only barely managed to evade and as he stepped back his grin faded. "-can still admit I'm the better boxer." But the weequay wasn't even considering it as he pressed the attack put in a powerful jab at the left of Harkam's ribcage, forcing itself straight through the awkward guard until an "Oof!" escaped Harkam's lips.

Some of the rebels started laughing after witnessing how his taunt had utterly failed, but Harkam wasn't discouraged despite giving in more ground. Pushing the weequay out of reach he gave himself the breather he desperately needed. "Good-" oh kriff his lungs were karked up and he was unable to quickly recover, "-hit." He watched as Tulo grinned from a distance, knowing that he'd won the fight.

"You're not bad, Harkam-" Tulo said as he lowered his hands and made clear the bout was over. "-but there's a reason they put me in special forces and you on a ship-" Kriff, Harkam knew where this was going.. "-and that's because you punch like a girl!" Naturally, laughter erupted as once again the special forces beat the starfleet and Harkam may or may not have just lost the candy bar from his ration in a bet.

Good alcohol brought people together, terrible alcohol did so even more apparently. Liam chuckled as a shirtless man took the flask and added the jeering. "Liam Vos." he said as that man and another introduced themselves (@Shax @Nommie ). The Rebellion was small but they were often spread out, and if these men were Jedi, they were often off on their own anyway.

Liam took the flask back when another asked for it. He tossed it the man and pushed himself off his seat and stood. (@Richie B. ) Another cheer went up as the boxing match escalated, the two now taunting each other. "Hope you came thirsty..." he said as a couple of others chuckled.

He stepped in the middle "Alright boys...lets hug it out." he said smiling. Taunting was only natural but it urged people to fight past the point where it was for sport. This was only more pronounced when it involved the silent rivalry against those who fought on the ground and those who manned the Rebellion's ships.

If people started getting knocked out, their superiors would shut this thing down in a hurry. They turned a blind eye for now, but there was an understanding that they didn't do anything too stupid. "You good?" he asked Harkam (@Ecclessey ), looking down at the ribcage. "Hell of a fight..." he said.

The Duke nodded as Vos walked off, kinda secretly upset that he didn't shake his hand. Oh well, nothing to be done about it. He turned to look at the kid sitting near him and nodded at him, holding out his hand and repeating his name with a shining smile, before doing the same with the new guy who just acquired the flask.

It was a hell of a thing, Duke thought, that so many young men were fighting in this war. He had never really considered himself old, but as he looked at Calath and the new guy, the Duke realized that he was the exception to the rule. Most of the Galactic Alliance's soldiers were younger than him by almost a decade. It was a strange thought for the shirtless one.

Darion spoke up with a mildly excited smile, "So, you two wanna play a game?" He asked, holding one of his many knives in his left hand, absently flipping it up and down in the air so as to bring attention to it. Making it very clear that whatever game he wast thinking of wasn't exactly on the safe side of the spectrum.

The woman smirked as the fight came to a close, her unobtrusive entrance into the hanger about to be ruined as she walked forward and elbowed the Weequay in the ribs to say, ”And what’s wrong with the way a girl hits, Tulo?” The man turned round blanching a bit, if such was possible for the Weequay and he laughed before shoving her shoulder, ”Damn it Nera, you know you don’t count as a girl despite your curves”, his hands came together and cut out an exaggerated hourglass in the air before him. This caused her to snort, her hand coming up to clutch at her heart in fake pain, ”Ouch man, that’s harsh.” She lifted a fifth of Mon Cala Vodka in the air, a bad sign for it was Aurel’s favored drink and didn’t agree with her at all. ”Fortunately I got just the cure”, she quipped before taking a pull and handing the bottle off to one of the men.

Her eyes took in the faces and she realized she didn’t recognize a soul save Liam. For some reason her eyes were pinned to the youngest in the crew as though she should know this one (@Nommie). It was but a moment’s discomfort for the Twi’lek as she was getting to the point where all the faces were looking the same these days. Young, weary, and haunted. She readily dismissed such dark thoughts as the point of taking a break from the action was more than just about sleeping and eating. It was more about a mental health day than anything remotely physical. A smile spread across her face and she let the past sink deep down inside to be ignored.

Liam nodded to familiar Twi'lek woman when she made eye contact. (@Kayenta Moenkopi) The previous two fighters cleared the makeshift ring and Liam stayed, deciding he wanted a turn.

He turned to see one of the new faces climbing in as well. (@Richie B.) Liam stretched his arms in preparation for the friendly fight before taking his shirt off and tossing it to the side.

His opponent was a good bit younger than him, though most looked younger than him, it was hard to tell anymore. "Hopefully you are bringing you're "A" game, would be a shame to get put down by an old man." he said, drawing a couple of chuckles.

People cheered on both fighters as the fight started, not really caring who won, either way, just wanting to be entertained. Liam took a few steps forward, keeping his hands up to defend himself.

Alexei took a swig from the drink and walked straight into the boxing ring placing the flask on the edge of the ring. It would be a shame if it were to be knocked over. Alcohol is a thing that shouldn't be wasted giving all of them still probably wanted a second swig. Though how much could that flask possible hold? Several people had already took a swig into so it most be nearly at the end, unless it was somehow bigger on the inside.

"I mean I don't want to hurt you old man. I will go easy at first and see how well you handle that." So far Alexei was pretty confident with his skills and sure that his youth would carry out the fight.

Watching him get inside the ring, Alexei got his hands up and almost instantly charged to his opponent. Sadly though as he was able to throw the first punch but that didn't really work out the way he wanted to, as his opponent moved his head and just grab his arm and throw him over the man's shoulder. Landing hard on his back his breath came out, and he saw his opponent throw a solid punch to his face. But he was able to roll out of the way, but before he could get up the old man was able to send a solid punch to his face. Yet before the old man could get another punch in, Alexei shoved him a couple feet back letting them have some distance.

Rubbing his bruised face the rebel felt slightly embarrassed. He would have rather had the old man just beat him up rather then throw him into the ground. Still his eyes burned a bit of excitement, ready to continue the fight.

Harkam rubbed his jaw in a fruitless effort to dull some of the pain, but still he had been hurt worse a couple of times. "All good-" he smiled in reply to Liam (@Raydo), except for maybe his pride. "-but I better not test my luck again." The worst thing that could happen during these rare free moments was having some uptight lieutenant write you up, or get hurt too badly that you can't ship out if shit hit the fan within the next ten minutes. Luckily the only lieutenant around was Ner'giza and she was alright, if only because Harkam had heard people say she was.

Deciding he was better off watching the next fight -instead of participating- he walked over to his bag and took out his bottle of gin-spiked bantha before throwing the bag against a crate and using it as a cushion. Some relaxation would do him good.

Quolon was happy with how he performed today. His instincts felt sharper, his senses more attuned and reactions faster. However, it was now time for his hard-earned rest. But if it was peace and quiet he was after, he would not find it here. He walks into the room to the sound of rowdy cheers and fist against flesh. He can;t help himself but roll his eyes and smile. On the one hand, wouldn't it be better if the men were not hurt and reserved their energy? On the other hand, we have to have fun now and then, don't we?

He had been somewhat quiet so far and hadn't integrated socially, he makes his way over to the small group who have gathered, hoping they'll welcome him. As he approaches he notices a small shift on the Force and his eyes are guided to whom he believes to be another Jedi, though no lightsaber was visible on his person. (@Nommie) The smell of alcohol is strong and he isn't sure what the Jedi rules are on drinking.

Alexie recovered from the throw, both settling into their stances again. Liam moved around the man, testing for weak spots. He landed a jab on the man's ribcage but took a punch to the face. Liam grinned as he recovered from the blow.

He wiped a bit of blood from his mouth before raising his hands back up. He moved back in. This time, Liam feinted like he was going low for another shot to the body but when the counter-attack came, he ducked to the side, sending a fist in an uppercut to the younger man's.

Liam could have pressed the advantage there, but he didn't, this fight was about fun, not about the kill. He tasted the iron in his mouth from the cut on the inside of his lip.

It seemed like everyone showed up to the same place to do the same thing after having a long day and it was no different for the Jedi Knight as she walked along the metal plated floor in order to get to the make-shift bar that was installed in order to raise the spirits of troopers who looked to unwind after a day like today. Though they probably all did different tasks, Arda was beginning to find the difficulties in the responsibilities that she had inherited. Regardless, it was moments like these that allowed her to just be herself; she recognized some faces, but made for a beeline to the counter to get herself a bottle of beer and found a place to comfortably watch as some of the guys were testing their strength and skill against one another

Both guys she recognized, though there was one she held a stronger opinion about than the other and as Alexei managed to catch Liam in the jaw, Arda took her chance to yell out, "Hit him just a little harder so some credits fall out of him!"

Some other laughed in amusement by the Knight's jest and Arda took a drink of her beer waiting to see if it was enough to distract Liam from anymore throws from the Rebel he was sparing with.

As the duo climbed into the ring and began to set about their boxing match, her eyes trailed along behind the man who had been fighting Tulo and grinned. It was not everyone who could take a punch like that from the Weequay and walk without staggering. Knowing he would be alright, Nera wandered over to where the youngster was being addressed by a man flipping a knife in the air.

She just couldn’t shake the feeling that this fledgling was familiar and it was putting her off the drink. That didn’t take much for she really wasn’t fond of the stuff but there was a store of it on the Tempest and so easy to hand. Before she reached the small gathering she saw another man join the pair. So many strangers. It was good, she couldn’t complain that they had grown so numerous and despite their loses more always rose to fill their places. It was just that those who were familiar seemed to become fewer and fewer with every passing week.

Her attention was diverted a moment when she heard a familiar voice call out at the boxers, her eyes lifted to spy Arda and gave her a nod. For all the times they had skirted round the same pathways the two still had never formally met. Part of her wished to make a connection with the early days but the bigger part of her evaded having to confront thinking about all the loss tonight. Instead she continued forward toward the youth.

Too late to hear what the two had been discussing, she set the bottle of Mon Cala on a packing crate then pivoted enough to face the pair. By the expression upon his face Nera thought the older fellow seemed friendly enough, despite the repetitive tossing of his knife in the air. Not being very shy about asking questions she just came out with it, ”What’s with the knife?”

Calath watched Alexei walk into the ring after the flask was given to him. Shrugging the teenager turned his attention to Darion as the other, older jedi seemed to be talking to him. On top of that, he could not quite figure out why, the bare chested man is interesting, "What game do you have in mind?" He asked curiously.

His attention then turned to the twi'lek woman. Calath swore that he had seen her before. It was brief and somewhat fast. But the teenager recognized her, "Were you one of the rebels who freed me and others from those prison cells on Jedha?" He asked Ner.

The teenager briefly turned his attention to Darion to show that the man still has his attention.

What game did he have in mind? He didn't exactly know many games that involved knives. There was of course the classic game of Bishop, or the 'stab between the fingers game' as it was more locally called. But he wasn't too sure how much his new companions would be up for something that could potentially cause bodily harm.

Could always try and compete on who could it the most targets with throwing knives, but the Duke would just win, so no fun there. He stopped flipping the knife for a moment, his expression turning contemplative, before he shrugged. He was about to speak when a Twi'lek approached. He shot her a grin and flipped the knife once more in the air, before letting it float there with some small exertion in the force.

"I've been trying to think of a game for myself and Calath here, wanna join?" He returned his attention back to Calath, before remembering his manners and looking back over at the Twi'lek and held out his hand. "Darion Duke." He absently floated the knife over to Calath, hilt first so that he could grab it, letting out a breath once he had finished with the mild exertion of holding it in the air. He retrieved two more knives, keeping one for himself and handing the other to the Twi'lek.

"Now I'm sure you've both heard of or seen this done before, if you haven't I'm surprised." He stood up and placed his hand on the crate he was just lounging on. It was pretty obvious what he meant, and it wasn't very creative, but hey it was a simple and an adrenaline pumping time waster. He spread his fingers out, and placed his knife tip down between his thumb and index finger. "I don't guarantee you won't come away without a few cuts." He winked, watching them expectantly, though he wouldn't be insulted if they both weren't exactly up for this.

Quolon had been on the sidelines of this conversation for a while, he observes the knives being handed out with an expression of mild interest. Having a taste for danger, he approaches a little closer, leans against a durasteel beam and pipes up. "May I join you?" He asks, with a smile. The game intrigued him, the thought of intentionally putting oneself in harm's way for entertainment.

He feels the connection to the force among the group, this should be fun. "The boxing match is getting a little dry, I hope you don't mind". He had to confess he recognised none of his peers here, he had been somewhat socially cut off, due to increased focus on his training, it was about time he made some effort to socially integrate himself.

The young man’s words caused her to blink a bit in thought before she replied, ”Yes, I was on Jehda.” That had been some pretty sick times; she and Tycho freeing those of the faithful from imprisonment and a ritualistic sacrifice the cultists had planned. She recalled the Nightmother Sycorax, the possession of Master Reach, and the battle she and the jedi had waged to free her and banish the witch. It seemed like ages ago, yet the memory was as vivid for her as if it were yesterday. Nera could not recall this young man’s face but obviously they had met. She connected the dots assuming this was what prompted him to join the rebellion.

The man with the knife, Darion making his self introduction supplied his name, piqued her interest but she was not of a mind to jump ahead of the youth in playing this game. ”My name is Ner’Giza, nice to meet you Darion", she said before continuing, ”I think I’ll just watch you two go first, if you don’t mind.” She turned to the youth and asked, ”What is your name?”

When Quolon arrived she smiled and nodded her head edging over a bit to make room for him to join their small circle. ”Sure, I think Darion here was just getting ready to explain.”

@Shax @Nommie @NotSarcastic

sorry. I am not ignoring the use of the force. I just forgot to react to it when I posted. Nera will have a reaction though. lol

The more the merrier as they say, Duke nodded to the new guy (@NotSarcastic ) and drew another of his many knives with his off hand and flipped its hilt towards him. Like he had before he repeated his name, introducing himself. He had giving up holding his hand out for people, seemed the Galactic Alliance just lacked manners in general if they couldn't shake a mans hand when he was introducing himself.

He nodded to Ner'Giza as she introduced herself, maintaining his smile as he turned his attention back to the 'game' at hand. "Its pretty simple my friends, you just stab the table, and not yourself." He demonstrated by moving his knife and stabbing down between his index and middle finger, before pulling it back and stabbing down again in between his thumb and index finger. "You just go through each finger and back, as fast as you can." He looked up at the assembled rebels hoping they were following along.

"I've been doing this kind of thing for a while, just don't flinch, and trust yourself. You'll be just fine." He demonstrated again, going through the motions deliberately slowly, while making eye contact with each person. Never once glancing at the limb currently in danger.

"And if you are still hesitant, think of it as a uh... dexterity exercise!" He said with a wink.
