Thiago walked through the sandy streets and into the cantina. He looked around and put his hood down and walked to the bar and sat down, not looking at anyone. He ordered a glass of a strong alcoholic drink. The bartender slowly poured him a glass of a greenish liquid and out it on the bar in front of Thiago. He raised is glass and gulped it down and slammed it back on the bar as he grunted.

"Someone likes a strong drink every now and then, isn't that right?" Lane Miller asked from the seat beside Thiago. His gray eyes stared directly ahead of him, hidden under his gray hair. He leaned on the bar with an elbow, while the other rested in his lap.

"Yes sir.. Longgg day calls for a strong drink wouldn't you say friend? He said as he looked at Lane with half opened eyes. The beverage wasn't getting to him, just fatigue. He held out his hand to shake. "Carter, Thiago Carter."

Lane turned to Thiago and a faint grin. Though he was only in his mid 20's some lines appeared on his face, mostly from long hours awake. He took Thiago's hand and shook it firmly, taking note of the man's military demeanor. "I'm Valor Cain, it's a pleasure." he replied, and released the handshake. "So, what sort of work keeps you occupied?"he asked.

He smiled slightly and rested his hands on the bar. "Well, I've served the Republic ever since I was 18 so I've been occupied with training sims, live combat, recon, same shit different day. How about yourself?" He said before he ordered another drink.

At the mention of combat simulators and the like, the fatigued eyes and and long work days seemed to click together like a three lego blocks of the same color. "Bingo! So you are military after all, Army perhaps?" he thought. Lane was right, this man was military after all. The ex-Army Intelligence officer knew a military handshake. He smiled to himself and turned back to the bar. With three hard knocks and a hand signal, the young man ordered a drink as well. "Well, how do I put it...?" he asked, and thought for a moment while the bartender hurried off to get his drink. "I guess you could say I'm freelance. I do almost whatever people need done, as long as it's not something mundane like taking care of house pets..." he explained. The bartender returned with something that looked like coffee and set it in front of Lane. Lane looked over the drink before picking it up and drinking it.

Thiago laughed a little at the man's reaction. "Yes sir thats correct! My squad was one of the first to take on the Hutt's forces. We were on a planet near the outer rim when they came in. Ambushed us they did. We lost our commander so I took command. It was a long and hard battle but we had them at a choke point and pushed them back." He picked up his next glass and chugged it down just like the one before. "Freelancer huh? You must get a lot of business here in Mos Eisley."

He shrugged his shoulders and set his drink down. "Well it all depends, but I've had my fair share of sh*t jobs here and there, making sure little closet monsters don't get to the kiddies, assassinations, just stuff that parties on the fine line between good and bad, but as long as it pays, I'll do it."

He cocked his head to look behind him, and saw five men playing cards at a table. One of them seemed to be losing and began to grumble. "But what I'm really interested in is this rumor I heard. They say that somewhere there's a little bar, and people there will play with people's lives for money." he turned back to the bar again. "Kinda scary..." he added darkly, but not sounding like he really meant it.

His gaze went from his drink to the table which Valor had looked at. He was watching the man losing, he seemed quite frustrated. "Sounds like an underground crime den to me... Maybe we should check it out. Ask around and find out where it is. If it's real that is.." He looked around the room. There really wasn't much to look at here. just about everyone was a crook. He wasn't sure if he could completely trust his new friend but he hadn't given him a reason not to either. He turned around and put a few credits down to pay for his drinks.

"Maybe..." he said, and looked back to watch the gamblers. "Or we could watch and see what happens next. Looks like our friend over there just lost his bet."

One of the men threw slammed his drink down and stood with a growl of frustration.
"DAMNIT WHY AM I ALWAYS SO UNLUCKY??!!" the loser cried, and kicked the chair from behind him. As he did this, the group around him stood as well.

"What's the matta?" their ring leader asked. "Did ya lose all ya money pal?" they jeered and began to shove him around.

He looked back at the gamblers and watched as the loser was shoved around. "Hmm... Looks like things are getting interesting." He had a hand on the bar and the other on his knee as he watched this fiasco.

The man who lost was finally shoved too hard and fell on the ground bringing a chair with him and knocking over a few glasses. The other group started laughing at him and walked over to him.

Lane grunted and stood from his chair. "I guess it's time to stop a potential fight then..." he agreed, and strode over to the group and, breaking them apart, placed a hand on the ring leader's shoulder.
"Sorry pal, but, are you sure that's a good idea...?" he asked, arching one eyebrow.

Thiago walked over and stood behind the ring leader and bumped him lightly. "It would be a bad idea for you to not take this opportunity to walk away unharmed. " He said as he looked at the man that was shoved to the ground and back to the ring leader. He thought of all of his options if things got ugly, and was ready for whatever they threw at him and Lane.
