Blood on the Water

Correlian Trade Spire - Bespin System

”Captain, we are leaving hyperspace!’’ the first mate cried out, as Captain Rand Xexil of the ’Brutalizer’, a Marauder-Class Frigate, stalked down the bridge. ”All crew to boarding corridors, ready the main guns and prepare to scramble the fighters.’’ the Captain commanded, a chorus of ’Yes Sir!’ in various languages rising from the deck.

Rand had been looking forward to this operation, a long time in the making, and had thus come prepared for a fight. At his hip rested his Vibro-Blade, an A1-9 Pistol at his side, a brace of four Sunspear Heavy Blasters across his chest, accompanied by a bandoleer of grenades, flash, smoke and frag. He wore a simple armour-weave body glove, and a Lifeline vest over the top of it, covered by his trademark red tunic, and helmet, complete with a HUD and multi-spectrum viewing.

With a jolt, the ’Brutalizer’ kicked out of Hyperspace, on the port side of the unarmed Czerka-Class Star Liner…

+ + + + +

”Captain, we appear to have a vessel in close proximity to our port side.’’ the stammering voice of midshipman Trad Uxul came over the communications suit. With an exasperated sigh, Captain Orsurup of Mon Cala rose from his bath, deep within his private quarters on the top deck of the star-liner, and dried himself off. ’’Understood Uxul, make ready the brid….’’ he was thrown to the floor by the force of several turbo-laser shots colliding with the side of the ship, an ion blast striking at the engines before the liner had time to react and raise its shields.

Dropping to all fours, the Captain padded over to the window, eyes wide with horror as he saw the vessel waylaying his retirement fund….current assignment. ”It’s the ’Brutalizer’ Sir! Orders?’’

Abandon Ship? Run? he contemplated, before casting his eyes to the ever disapproving picture of his father, the late Republic Admiral Orsurup. ”Prepare for boarding! Alert security and get the guests into the safe zones!’’ he shouted back, hurriedly scrabbling for his uniform and side arm.

+ + + + +

’’Their engines are disabled Captain, and our fighters have taken out their communications array for the moment at least.’’ the ever grovelling voice of his first mate informed him. With a nod, Rand placed on his gloves, each finger adorned with a spike like vibroblade three inches long, and picked up his Percussion Cannon. ’’Very good, you have the bridge. Get us to boarding position, and keep the fighters on the lookout for incoming vessels.’’ he commanded, stalking off the bridge no sooner than he had arrived.

Walking to his boarding corridor as the door opened, allowing him and his crew access to the liner, he was handed a comms unit, patched into the Captain of the invaded vessel. ”Captain. This is the Jagged Claw, surrender yourself and your ship, or we shall take it from you.’’ he snarled. There was no reply.

’’Kill those who resist, take the others to the hold. Leave the Captain to me.’’ he said, nonchalantly to his crew, who with a chorus of howls, loped off into the vessels depths as the Captain and his entourage made their way to the bridge.

Kae'Tl stood at the bridge of the Protectorate's Tayana-class Frigate a hail to the Protectorate had been sent begging for assistance, a non combatant vessel was being laid siege to near Protectorate jurisdiction. Kae'Tl in an effort to expand the Protectorate's influence and prestige. Was all to happy to oblige.

Herself and the crew were ready to hit hyperspace on a matter of minutes. The standard shuttles onboard had been swapped for a pair of N-51 Nova-class Starfighters, whatever was going on out there, Kae'Tl wasn't looking for an elongated skirmish.

"Captain.. uh.. Grand Councillor.." the first mate stammered at choosing the appropriate title fit the situation. Kae'Tl turned to the man. "We're about to exit hyperspace, sensors show multiple hostile craft have converged on the civilian vessel." He said.

"Very well, shields up, bring full payload online. I want an immediate incapacitation of all enemy ships, lets do what we're paid for gentlemen.." she said being immediately responded with multiple ' Yes Ma'am's and yes grand councillor's and yes captain's.

The frigate exited hyperspace, the ship's five turbo lasers humming immediately as it began firing at the handful of tiny star fighters, accompanied by its twelve laser cannons, almost like swatting flies. In a matter of moments more than half of the star fighters had disintegrated, the remaining two would follow suit soon enough.

Like a well choreographed dance, the Nova's dislodged from the frigate and made way for the pirate vessel, under the cover of the heavy frigates fire. Their Ion cannon's already beaming at it.

"This is The Grand Councillor of The Kjlljk Protectorate, you are ordered to cease all corsair activity immediately, and surrender!"

After the hail was closed and sent Kae'Tl spoke into the secure and encrypted Protectorate comm link,"Continue to engage, keep weapons hot and fire at will, if they surrender I will make the call! Hit that vessel with the tractor beam!" She said as the frigate's turbo lasers continued to zero in on the star fighters.

Mal'goth stood tall on the bridge of the Protectorate's frigate waiting for the jump to hyperspace. The emergency call got him excited that he may get to see combat. It had been a few days since he was able to training and this would present the perfect opportunity to test his mettle. A light smirk emerged across his face as the jump was made.

When they arrived, the chaos he witnessed gave him an old nostalgic feeling. After the fighters detached from the frigate, Mal'goth began to pace in his place as the dark side pulsed through him like a gush of water. The feeling of bringing pain to his now enemies gave him motivation. This was going to be a time to remember.

Apophe KeYahm, Imperatrix of the Void Serpents, sat upon the command throne of the Ashes of Satramand, a Shukula Class Heavy Corvette. Despite the fact that she was now heavily pregnant with twins, she managed to look all the more imposing for the maddened look in her eye. Much had gone on in the past few months. She had begun to have children, and yet her wife passed before she could see them born. The Serpents had taken planet of Zakuul, but her cousin had disappeared not long after the Grand Temple had been complete. So much loss, for so little gain. She had secured an alliance with House Ordo of the Mandalorians, but to what end? Was the future of the Serpents hanging in the balance?

She had grown more daring in her raids, moving against the Outer Rim where she could. Without Amelia to hold her back, Apophe had ceased to care about her own safety. What was life without a lover to have it with? Only five years. She had been robbed. Soon, the people of Bespin would be too. Her synthflesh hands tightened against the armrests, and she glared down at her crewmen.

She had followed Rand Xexil out here, hoping to gain some resources for Zakuul that could not be gained within the borders of her territory. She had hung back, not wanting to engage, instead serving as a watch-dog for the Brutalizer. However, she was now forced to act as some deluded fools thought they they could give some ultimatum to a member of the Void Serpents. The Ashes of Satramand dove hard down into the atmosphere, past the hail of laser fire to go and join her comrade

"Open up a channel to the counselor," she said irritably to her men. They responded quickly. "You know, it's traditional to make your demands before you start killing my men." Her tone was dry, almost bored.

"Now, stand down, please," she said as her ship angled towards the tower in such a way that if it were shot down, it would crash and kill everyone inside, while also giving her a good chance to unleash fire upon the tower. "I am Apophe KeYahm, Imperatrix of the Void Serpents, and I have little interest in your attempt at heroics, but should you antagonize one of my own I will be forced to act."

”Captain…” began the first mate over the comms unit, but Rand was already aware of what he was to say, and cut him off, the proximity alarm on his commlink showing a ship was about to exit hyperspace. ”Bring us about.’’ he commanded, the order followed immediately, as the ’Brutalizer’ pushed the Cruise Liner to which it was connected around, to that stood as a shield between them and the arriving vessel.

Rand stalked back onto the boarding corridor, leaving one third of the crew on the cruise liner to make their way to its bridge. He heard the fighters leave the enemy ship, and his own dodging the anti-capital ship turbo lasers with ease as he stepped back on board his ship. ”Disconnect.’’ he ordered, as he made his way toward the command bridge if the ’Brutalizer’ ”Have our remaining fighters engage their support.’’ he commanded.

A few moments away from the Command Bridge, he felt the shudders of impact on the Cruise Liner, as the enemy vessels blast shots impacted with the ships lower decks, shielding the ’Brutalizer’ from harm. With a hiss, they disconnect, all engines full and left the shelter of the ship, as the ’Ashes of Satramand dropped out behind the attacking craft.

Rand help fire, awaiting his Imperatrix’s command.

"I am Apophe KeYahm, Imperatrix of the Void Serpents..."

Void Serpents.. Kae'Tl had heard of the corsair organization, but had not actually come across them. She knew they operated somewhere out of the Galactic Northwest.

"You're pretty far from home, Misses Apophe." Kae'Tl replied,"Order your troops to stand down and release the civilian craft. Dock all independent star-fighters to their origination points and slowly approach my location to prepare for boarding." she said to the Serpent ship.

Over the Protectorate comm,"Pull back and act defensively, Keep shields up and weapons hot. The Serpent ships have agreed to cease fire, keep the comms quiet and stand by." she ordered to her own troops.

Kae'Tl maneuvered the Tayana-class Frigate to directly face the Ashes of Satramand if this Apophe decided to take advantage of the Protectorate's willingness to cease fire, Kae'Tl would make sure she regretted it.

"You may approach now." Kae'Tl notified her.

"I thought they were a myth..." Mal'goth stated slow and drawn out.

It amused him that they came across the Void Serpents. He truly thought they were a mere rumor and nothing more. There wasn't much he could say on the subject. He didn't like the idea of negotiating due to his pirating past, but it was a different day and age. Mal'goth had only a few times he had to negotiate on behalf of himself. Those memories, to a normal individual, would bury those memories, but he let them fuel him. The hate, betrayal, and anxiousness that swelled from him waiting for an all out battle to ensue that wouldn't come. Mal'goth took a deep breath as he took control of his emotions.

"Grand Chancellor, I definitely do not trust them in any way. Just speaking freely with no disrespect," he said said in a low voice with the latter part of the statement being forced.

((OOC: I definitely apologize for my lateness as well. The writer's block was strong in this one.))
