Ord Mantell

Ord Mantel is a crummy arid desert world, much like Tatooine, another crummy desert world on the otherside of the galaxy. But however, Worlport isn't exactly a bad place. It's relatively nice and cushy on the planet's capital. It is a big center of commerce and trade in the Bright Jewel sector. It has a host of casinos, markets, and other places.

Newton would be at the local Blackwell Tech branch office in the city. He was away on business that took him to the galactic north and this location will due for for what he has in mind next while he is in the general area of space. Newton would be in a nice mahogany desk, sitting in a nice spaceleather seat with a terminal and paperwork on it, he would also be accompanied by his astromech droid M7.

The CEO of Blackwell Tech would check his chrono, it's almost time for his next appointment. Today he is going enlist a weaponsmith for something he has in mind. "L3" he addressed his assistant secretary droid that was also in the office. "It's that time. Go send forth my next appointment." he pointed towards the lobby with one of his gloved hands. "Yes Master" she replied, going forth.

In the lobby, L3 would then go into the lobby where the appointment is to be waiting and then escort him to the office.

outback opportunities

----------------------------------------

Marr was confused when he got approached by an employee of Blackwell Tech, who said that the CEO of this company would love to have a meeting with me for a projekt... I laughed at first, thinking it was a joke, but somehow the employee didn't look like he would be joking around... Still a bit skeptical Marr agreed and was told to come to the office the next day...

After he got himself cleaned up and put on his clean working clothes and walked off the ship to come and visit the CEO of Blackwell Tech...

Now that's a new one... Why would they need his help? But since he was desperate for credits, he tried it anyways and went into the next Blackwell Tech office... Once at the reception, he greeted a lady, who was working at the front desk: "Hello there, I have an appointment with the CEO of Blackwell Tech, I am Marr Thrar...", he said kind of insecure...

The lady nodded, grinned and said: "Please follow me Mr. Thrar." and lead the way to the elevator, and unlocked a special ride for him to the secured floor...

As soon as the elevator opened he was welcomed by a stream of sunlight and a very nice designed lobby... As Marr sat down on the confy couch the doors leading to the office swung open and a droid started to make eyecontact with me...

"Mr. Thrar, come with me.", it said and led me to a large mahogany desk, where a young gentleman was sitting in a spaceleather seat...

Marr stepped forward to Newton and said: "Hello Mr. Arden, nice to meet you, my name is Marr Thrar..."

There he is...

Newton would then get out of his seat and stride over to extend his hand towards him for a handshake. "Nice to meet you Maar." he said with a smile. "You can call me Newton" he said with a pleasant, inviting demeanor. He isn't really big on formalities when dealing with most people. Never was.

"Do have a seat" he would point towards the chair in front of his desk. "Need a beverage?" Newton was ready to call his assistant droid to get him something if he would like.

Now that he would get back in his seat, he would lean back in it "So, I've heard that you are a talented weapons smith... A very skilled one actually." he said. Word goes around. Plus as a CEO of a megacorporation that deals mainly in weapons manufacturing (among other things) company, Newton and scouts would have eyes on what goes on in the field. It just so happens that Marr Thrar came up.

Now that he thinks about it, his name does rhyme.

Interesting meeting...
----------------------------------------

A firm handshake coming from Newton Arden... which was a good sign... Marr hates loose and slimy handshakes... these businesses never get good...

To the offer that he can call him Newton, Marr was a bit hesitant and a bit suspicious... it didn't quite fit in the Marrs stereotypical mindset of a CEO of a large company... but he was here for business so he used the name Newton.

When asked what he wanted to drink he replied: "oh just a glas of water." and when he got the drink he would thank him.

As soon as Newton talked about Marr's reputation, Marr's was humbled and also happy to hear, that his work was gaining more and more popularity... yet he asked himself what he could possibly want...

"Well thank you, you are very kind... I can build a lot of blasters even disruptors if you want... but these are in an ethical "not very popular" and also not allowed on some planets... Well either way, I would be happy to design a weapon for you, either for mass production or just a personal one for you... yet if you want to have a design for mass production, we would have to agree on the term of payment... and also I would like to give the weapon a personal touch... maybe by making a products series called "MT-Series"? but if this would be too much I can understand..."

He looked nervously while asking himself, if he had asked for too much... taking a sip of his glass and waiting for the response...

Was it too much?

Then the protocal droid would get him a glass of water, with ice. Perfect thirst quencher for a desert. In regards to the weaponsmith's response, Newton would raise a finger as if to say 'slow down' "Lets do one thing at a time" he suggested. Newton has grown good at telling body-language. He can tell while the other is a eager for the opportunity, he can also tell he is a bit nervous.

His smile would drop as he gets more serious, now starting to delve in. "Anyways, you said you can build a lot of blasters?" he would lean back in his seat and then ponder for a moment? "How good would you think you would be working with chromium?" he would ask off hand. With being in control of the droid world M4-78, Newton and by extension Blackwell had ample access to chromium. Newton has devolving a liking to it.

"What I'm looking at right now is a pistol that is both a regular blaster and a ion blaster in one." he said. "Would that be something you could do?" he asked if the weaponsmith is capable.

The 2 in 1
----------------------------------------

Marr is sipping his glas of cool glass of water, and listening to Newton. After Newton said, to do one thing at the time, Marr got a bit more nervous, believing he screwed up...

After Newton began with the question if Marr could build blasters, Marr just nodded, and said nothing, since he was afraid to screw it up again. Marr took again a sip of his glass of water and swallowing it, while he heard Newton ask, if he was experienced with Chromium and if he was able to build a Blaster who had a function of a regular blaster and ion blaster in one...

Marr said as a response: "Well, I only had the chance to coat 1 blaster in chromium... so I don't have much experience with that, since my customers wouldn't be able to afford that... but The Blaster and Ion Blaster in one can be done... Yet apart from the chromium, i would need a small and also very powerful, and exchangeable energy source for the ion blaster... which is not easy to get i believe... an other way around would be to utilize the plasma energy... but this would require some kind of research and also a lot of tests, before it would be stable and safe to use... There is currently no such weapon which would be able to do that... So its up to you to choose, what design you want..."

Newton nodded as he listened to the other person. So, going by him they have to ways around this0, one would be simpler, the other one may be more complicated and more time consuming. Newton was a patient person however. "Chromium will be provided for you to work with" Newton said, so the weaponsmith will not have to procure the rare substance on his own.

"We should look into doing the research first." he decided. "If that doesn't work out for us, we can fall back on the exchangeable energy source." Through research and testing, they might be able to find out a system that competitors would not possess, but the along the way, the two might discover other things they can use in their experiments. Blackwell always prided itself on it's ability to innovate as well.

"Is there anything we need to discuss? Or we ready to move on to compensation and a contract?" Important topics were already discussed, Newton was ready to move on unless there was something else that needed to be brought up.

The contract...

----------------------------------------

Marr was glad, when he heard, that Newton would provide the Chromium for the weapon. Though the amount of testing and research needed for this weapon would be as exciting as it would be frightening... Frightening, since it would be something new and he didn't want to disappoint Newton... yet exciting, since it would be revolutionary and he would be part of this technical advance...

He agreed on the research and on the Plan B if they would fail with the research.
As Newton asked whether or not there is something to discuss about the project or if they should move on to the compensation and the contract he really took his time before giving an answer... But after 15 seconds he said: "Well, no further details needed, I would be happy to talk about the compensation and the contract... I never had a project in that scale before... I honestly don't know what rate I can offer you, since I got some of the tools, yet not every tool in my workshop to produce this blaster... also the working materials would be provided by you... maybe you would have a sufficient offer, taking these things into account?"

Newton would lean back in his seat "Since you are a contractor working on mine, and therefore Blackwell's behalf, I would be fine lending you a workstation at a Blackwell Munitions manufacturing facility as well as assistance from others there, should you need it." he said. It was understandable that the weaponsmith didn't have tools or maybe facilities to work on what is essentially a heavily specialized and rare weapon.

Newton would be lying if he said he didn't internally giggle a bit as the other person trusted him, a mega-corp CEO to come up with a fair offer. If this was Czerka or something or a less reputable CEO they most likely would tried ripping him off. But Blackwell is a much more reputable and couth.

"For just the one blaster, since you are working on an advanced weapon, but taking into account I'm providing the expensive chromium. But also taking into account we pay well for quality work..." he would glance at his L3 droid who would be punching in keys on a datapad. And then the datapad would be placed on the table in front of the weapons smith.

"Here would be your compensation if you produce one working weapon that meets my specifications." he said. It would be a high number of credits for the job the weaponsmith has, of course taking into the account the factors..

"After that, then we can talk about the mass production of the weapons, if you want." he said.
