Description:

Modeled after the largely successful Taung-class Star Dreadnought, the Beviin-class Destroyer resembles its much larger cousin and sports a similar, albeit much lighter, armament. To accommodate the many weapon systems and their supporting generators and ammunition stores, passenger and cargo capacity have been reduced substantially. In fact, corridors leading from area to area are only as wide and tall as required. To most outsiders, these cramped conditions would be detrimental to the crew and their ability to operate effectively. However, Mandalorians see narrow corridors and cramped quarters as an advantage, especially during a boarding action, as the enemy is often forced into a fatal funnel from which an advantage in numbers means little to nothing.

The massive, armored shutters protecting the primary sublight drives are retracted during operation. Two secondary drives, located ventrally, facilitate basic maneuvers and forward thrust when these shutters are closed. The secondary drives can only achieve speeds up to 30 MGLT.

Like the Kom'rk, due to the limited number of Mandalorian warriors left, the Beviin Mk. II was redesigned using a sophisticated target and control system allowing it to network its cannon fire together in batteries requiring less crew to man them, however this process is slower and less efficient reducing the ship's versatility and adaptability in a firefight as the gun crews have less control over their weapons.

During battle the Beviin is a tough nut to crack with its multiple overlapping heavy shields and thick armor plating. It is designed to stand up to the line of battle of the enemy and keep on fighting, throwing a devastating barrage at the enemy. The Super-Heavy guns are based off of the Imperial Banehound's large guns, and are designed to be able to cripple ships in engagements or snipe them at range depending on the power setting. The plethora of turbolaser and heavy turbolaser batteries mean that engaging a Beviin, particularly in a broadside, is incredibly dangerous unless the attacker has an equally powerful ship. Aimed to have a versatile armament capable of defending itself from capital ships, and able to hold its own from single ships well enough due to its point defense guns, the Beviin is a good all-round ship-of-the-line, however its slow acceleration and poor maneuverability means it works best in conjunction with other ships to help support it. Its main purpose is to break the enemy formation and to engage and destroy or disable their capital ships. (To use a real world analogy, the Beviin is equivalent to an up-armed 1st Rater from the Age of Sail. Hard to damage without heavy weapons, and with a devastating armament, but requiring a large substantial crew and suffering from incredibly poor maneuverability.)

The Beviin Mk II was redesigned using different weapons as Megamasers were deemed too difficult to produce for the Mandalorians and their new company MandoTech. Instead the ship was designed with the high armament of the Imperial II-class Star Destroyer in mind, given substantial point defense cannons, and purpose-built to engage the Imperial Destroyer-class warships in a 1-on-1 battle and defeat them.

  • Composition: Titanium-Reinforced Alusteel (armor plating), Quadranium (hull & superstructure), Glasteel (viewports), Duraplast (viewport & weapon port shutters)
Based on the ISD-II.

Updated the description and armaments to bring it more in line with its size. Looking for input for this as well.
