Were they not doing so well? Cus he was getting the feeling that they weren't doing so well and that was a feeling he would very much like to avoid in the future! His quip had been mediocre at best but his attacks had been rather pointedly thorough in their execution so at least he could honestly say that he hadn't let the team down.

Yet.

He hadn't let the team down yet being the operative part of that phrase.

One of the thugs decided to rush the big furry guy and got absolutely wrecked for his trouble (that table had looked fairly solid too) but then another one, the only one left, managed to land a hit on the other fluffy team member. Specifically the fluffy one who was smol and cute in her own way.

How rude.

"Hey!
" he called out and he charged, "Hands off the bunny!"

... yeah he was going to need to buy himself like a rhyming dictionary or something and come up with some better quips because right now all it did was make his victim look slightly confused before he was surprised by the swiftness of Flynn's blade thrusting straight through his eye and back out the other side of his head.

Flynn kicked the corpse off of his sword.

"Doc, you alright? Check on the small fluffer?"
he called out before patting Renard on the arm, "Nice move big boy. And nice shooting Wesky! Real dead-eye kark right there."

When the fighting ended, Renard's mind pulled back from the tunnel-vision that he had been experiencing to truly take in what had happened. Specifically, how the Leppi woman and the human doctor had been injured, in part by what he had done. Usually he would have felt nothing, not having cared about others. Somehow, though, there was an...ache, of sorts, where his closed-off heart was in his chest. Was he feeling remorse for having led to their injuries? Watching the smaller woman hold her wound, her face in pain as the doctor was starting to work, it made him...he felt bad. This confused him, which made him go quiet. After having been pat on the shoulder by Flynn, the Shistavanen would sit down in one of the few seats around and just look at the floor, unable to meet the gaze of anyone else. He started to internally berate himself for not being good enough, for his base strategic calculations leading to allied injuries. Perhaps that was because he'd never HAD allies before, yet now that he did he wasn't used to factoring them right. He just sat, silently, waiting for one of them to yell at him for what he did. He deserved it, in his mind.
