DESCRIPTION
Widely credited as the starfighter that beat back the Hutt Fleets during their invasion of Bothan Space, the Starchief is a bomber that shares a common appearance with the Galactic Civil War era Y-wing. But unlike the Y-wing, the Starchief is designed to be a quicker bombing platform, capable of keeping up with fighter escorts, and thus can be better defended without having to rely overmuch on heavy shields. Besides, armor plating really doesn't accomplish much if an enemy fighter can stay locked onto your tail for as long as it takes to whittle you down.

The Starchief has a comparatively lighter bomb capacity, and isn't particularly maneuverable, but is fast and carries a quartet of light ion cannons in the nose. The fighter is adept as joint strikes, along side starfighters such as the T-97 and Predator which can add their own payloads, and rely on the Starchief to thoroughly disable the shielding on an opposing craft. In this capacity, the Starchief is extremely useful as part of raiding parties that harass enemy supply lines, and disrupting operations. The real heavy hitting part of the Starchief's armament is in the form of three torpedo laucnhers, mounted in the central spar behind the cockpit. The Starchief makes use of two proton torpedo launchers, and 1 shieldbuster torpedo launcher, which in combination with its ion cannons allow it to leave a target easy prey for follow up strikes.

Still the Starchief is very durable, being made of a simple alusteel frame that can survive a great deal of punishment. The Starchief has up until now been produced exclusively in Bothan Space, but after the Battle of Naboo is has started to to enter production at other major Rebel manufacturing centers as well, allowing it to quickly become a widespread design in the Rebel Fleet. The ship is relatively easy to pilot, with simple controls that allow any scruffy looking nerf herder to easily get a grasp of how to fly the beast, and the extra seat for a gunner can be modified to allow the Starchief to act as a training starfighter for new pilots.

Intent: To serve as the Rebellion's mainstay bomber as I'm phasing-out the weird few we have. It's easy to learn to fly so just about anyone can use it (making it like a Space Bobcat), plus OT-Aesthetics, AMIRITE?

It looks good, but its crazy fast for a bomber of its type. This is interceptor levels of fast.

Yes, the speed is too high. ~100-115 would be a fast bomber (and faster than the classic X-Wing, I'll add).

Also, can you clarify " and armor plating that really don't accomplish much if an enemy fighter can stay locked onto it for as long as it takes. " for me? 1 meter thick armor plating wouldn't accomplish much if a fighter could lock on "for as long as it takes", so what exactly do you mean here?

The wording might be a little iffy, but the way it's intended is that it's not really talking about the armor plating, so much as it is pointing out that speed is better than shields and armor. As in, you can have as much armor plating, and as thick of shields as possible, but it doesn't really mater if you're so slow and unmaneuverable that any other fighter can get on your tail and just sit there and chew your fighters to pieces. The implication being that it sacrifices in the shields, and armor areas is made up for with the greater levels of speed.

Edits made and wording changed to actually make a bit more sense.
