Battle of Tython I

Laying on the edges of Tython's oceans is a small temple once used for Jedi Masters to convine and discuss the fate of their Order. Not touched for centuries, the Grandmaster of the Order has returned and the retreat will once more be a center for the Jedi Council. However, she is not alone as opposing forces also have returned to see the Jedi never regain their power in the galaxy. Now the Empress and the Grandmaster will come face to face, a fury Tython would not have felt in 500 years.

They were the first Jedi in five centuries to return to a world that their predecessors called home. It had taken the Grandmaster years to get where she was and yet it seemed there was still so much further to go. While the rest of her Jedi explored the ruins, she had taken her own journey to here, the Master's Retreat, a place where the wisest Jedi converged to decide the fate of their Order and the young Grandmaster wondered if they ever thought their choices would have lead to their near extinction. She questioned even her own choices, the risks she took that would either make the Alliance stronger or shatter everything that they had built. Now though, there was no going back, she despised thinking her failure would break all efforts to move forward and trusted that her Jedi kin will demonstrate to the Empire that the fires of hope was not something they could defeat.

The overcast sky was starting to break, the evening before brought rain to the ocean's coast. The waves broke against the rocky shoreline as Arda looked off to the horizon, her thoughts gently floating with the pulse of Tython. Her senses had picked up a disturbance, Tython at first seemed to be welcoming, but know it prepared itself for a storm as the Sith were alerted to their presence. The darkness has always been there, she had lived in its presence since before she was born, but within it was light, balance, warmth, life, and peace, all things greater than the fear the Empire had long brought. She grasped her lightsaber hilt in her palm, her thumb yet to activate the blade as she turned to face the newest leader of the Empire: Empress Aadya Drast.

"You do not need to be here, Empress."

The weather of Tython seemed to have shifted the moment that Aadya stepped foot on its surface, as if the planet itself was reacting to her presence and informing that she was far from welcome. Storm clouds swirled menacingly overhead, shifting from white to an angry grayish-black to signify that something was coming, and it would be relentless.

Aadya had found her way to what was known as the Master's Retreat, fully expecting to find it abandoned and empty, much like the Jedi Order itself. Instead, the Sith Empress was met with the visage of a woman with dark hair, steeped in the light so much that it almost made Aadya ill.

"Don't I?" Aadya asked inquisitively, tilting her head slightly and putting a finger to her chin. "This world doesn't belong to you anymore, Grandmaster. Did the Jedi not teach you to not to take things that are not yours? Tsk, tsk, tsk." Aadya said, clicking her tongue and shaking her head in mock disapproval.

As she spoke the force had been swirling around Aadya, the young Empress calling upon the darkness that seemed to be seeping from Tython. A loud crack of thunder boomed in the sky, almost shaking the foundation of the Master's Retreat to its core. It was as if the Force itself was watching, signaling to the Grandmaster and Empress that their choices were singular and simple: they would have to fight.

Aadya's lightsabers were currently tucked away but well within reach via the force, though for now she preferred to engage with the Grandmaster empty handed. She had never really spoken with any Jedi, let alone the leader of the entire Order. She wouldn't want to give her eternal nemesis a bad impression.

"You're wasting your time, Arda. I would sooner raze this world than let you and your Order reclaim it."

The air carried the weight of the darkness that came from the Sith Empress and Tython reacted. She watched and listened to the woman, but her own senses were listening to more than what the Empress spoke. She had yet to reach for sabers, but undoubtedly she would be certain she had them.

"You can raze all the worlds of the Jedi, but you will never extinguish the hope that exists, Empress."

She stepped back, her foot anchoring into the stone floor of the ancient meeting place, the Force was with her, the light burned brightly as she prepared to stop the woman who threatened to take everything from her. If Aadya wished to hold to her promise, she would certainly have to get through the Grandmaster of the Order, but Arda was ready for the fight that the world anticipated.

"Your Empire needs you and yet you are here, too concerned about us, a world you are set on destroying instead of addressing the threat that took your own homeworld." her eyes narrowed as she waited for her response. In a way it was flattering to know the Jedi were a threat to them, as small as they were, but the Sith always were preoccupied with a threat to their power, even when they did not appear to hold power. Fascinating...

"Do you fear us, Empress?"

Aadya couldn't help but let out a cackle of a laugh; the real, genuine, belly roll kind of laugh you only did when something was so funny to you that it nearly made your eyes water. The Grandmaster seemed rather presumptuous, though it was unsurprising. Of course Aadya did not need to be here, but she wanted to be, and that's all that really mattered in the end.

"Fear?" She asked, a devilish smirk creasing the corners of her lips. "Oh no my dear Grandmaster, I do not fear you." Under normal circumstances, this probably would have been the time a typical Sith would have whipped out their lightsaber and started fighting. The timing just didn't feel right to Aadya, though. "The Jedi claim to be an Order of peace don't they, Arda? But you cannot have peace unless you are willing to commit violence. If you're incapable of that, you're not peaceful. You're harmless - and there is nothing to fear from a dog with no teeth."

Aadya paused for a moment, the darkside swirling around her as her eyes narrowed, snake-like and menacing. "You are not the galaxy's savior, Grandmaster. I am."

In a flash, an eruption of emerald-green lighting would crackle from Arday's fingertips, coursing directly towards Arda. Aadya was unsure if the Grandmaster had ever seen Dathomiri magick before. If she hadn't, Aadya would make sure Arda intimately acquainted with the dark art before their battle was over.

Peace came at the price of blood and fear; Arda knew this, she grew up with it, she watched it, experienced it, and it was what motivated her to continue along the path of a Jedi. Though the last thing she ever considered herself to be was a savior, that was not a title she had heard. Admittedly, it was flattering.

Green streaks of lightning came from her finger tips, the Force cried out as she commanded it to the Empress' will. However, the Force was with Arda, her trust in her own abilities as she could feel herself become an extension of its will. The green streaks crackled and sparked as they were absorbed and dissipated by the Force as it collected in her palms. Her own hands were extended, stopping the lightning before it would reach its harm to the woman, but it wasn't without mild discomfort as the shock and pain that fueled the attack nipped at her cheeks.

Tython responded with its own crack of lightning, lighting up the sky with purple hues and Arda took in a deep breath, calming her mind as she pressed onward. Arda took a step forward, waiting for a break in the lightning to which she would grip the woman's legs with the Force and pull them out from under her. An effortless and swift maneuver, but it was always one that tended to catch the attention of her offenders. Her own blade then ignited, the viridian blade glowed and hummed and the sky light up again with the purple flashes of Tython's pain, but this time it ripped open the clouds and rain fell heavily onto the Sith and Jedi.
