RHEN VAR

The transport vessel jumped out of hyperspace in the galactic perimeter surrounding Rhen Var, once a temperate climate it had been sullied with the curse of frozen tundra. The former commander was a little surprised that Darth Malos had requested his presence on this mission. He believed that his blunder at Ilum had cost him more than just the loss of his limbs but regardless of what many would think, he would prove to them that he was still a valuable asset to the council and still one of the most formidable fighters in the galaxy. For this mission, he was dispatched with a younger Imperial soldier, Graham Siccaro whom he had met on a previous mission as well, coincidentally in the service of the High Inquisitor.

A duo of personal starfighters disengaged from the mother ship and sailed into the proximal climate of the planet, landing approximately 1.5 kilometers from the periphery of the abandoned cathedral. This would require both men to hike through the treacherous winter snow in order to successfully stake and eliminate high value threats. Eager to showcase his skills, Gunner disembarked from the cockpit of his airship and landed upon the ground with a heavy thud. Dressed in black combat armor, he was decorated in his usual armaments including twin fragmentation grenades, his Devastator rifle, twin carbine blaster pistols at his side, and the Aggressor Series LRA sniper rifle. Thick white furs shrouded over his armored figure, shielding him from the frigid wind chill as he moved over towards Graham's starfighter and waited for the shock corps member to disembark with his equipment.

Adding a thermal scout to his HUD, he performed a simple surveillance of the landscape before shifting his gaze towards the younger soldier. "Got everything you need?"

It was a nice little benefit to be able to pilot his own fighter down to the surface of Rhen Var, for infantry work seldom gave Graham chances to pilot a vehicle, let alone be active in the void regardless of how brief. While by now he was beginning to make an impression on those in the higher echelons he had secretly begun to fear that he would never be able to officially return to space based service. Of his thirty four standard years of existence he had spent most of them training for a capitol ship command, but his flair for ground-side combat had almost locked him into that particular path. So it was times like these, as the stars twinkled stunningly without atmospheric interference, that he just took the simple joy in flying once more. But it was brief, as the two fighters soon entered the atmosphere and came in to land on the hard packed ice.

Opening the canopy Graham was immediately hit by a blast of frigid air and pushed himself into motion, bet to focus on his equipment and the task at hand than the cold. His counterpart, Stahl, was already scanning the area for hostiles so Graham set about prepping. He was already in his ISC armor, and his blast revolver was holstered at his side. He took a moment to retrieve his rifle, collapsible vibro-sword, throwing knives and his grenades, making sure that each one was in their proper place. After conducting a rattle test, crunching loudly into the snow with each jump, he nodded and satisfaction. Only then did he respond to Stahl's question. "Good to go. I suggest we move with one of us leading and the other behind and slightly to the left so as to provide good cover."

Gunner nodded at the ISC soldier's suggestion, finding it to be a sound call of judgment in his own right. The duo began to track through the treacherous winter terrain, each step crunching into the snow as they made their progress towards the cathedral. Their assignment was to be relatively straight forward, as the other groups had it far more difficult with the actual capture and retainment of the settlement. However, their intel would be invaluable, providing the Sith Masters adequate knowledge with the information they gathered.

Rearing to a position approximately 200 meters from the main cathedral gate, Gunner slowly reduced his armored figure into a crouching position as he lifted a pair of binoculars and gathered surveillance. Two primary groups of armed combatants was visualized, each them about 75 meters from the pair but unaware yet of the Siths' presence. He nodded towards Graham as he motion to the leader standing in one group's epicenter. "I'd say that the single sniper is our most prevalent threat..." Wiping out his datapad, he shifted his focus to the electronics as he uploaded the coordinates of the groups as well as their own position into the system hardware, uploading it to Darth Malos' capital ship.

"Take the shot if you can..trust your instincts and utilize the wind chill to your advantage." He stated, coaching the younger man on how to properly take a well-calculated and efficient sniper kill. Should Graham be successful, Gunner would follow up with a few sniper shots of his own. He knew that as soon as they killed one high value target, the other group would deploy its soldiers to their position. Whatever the results, they would have to act quickly and with little mistakes.
