❅ THEME ❅

The signal from the Mandalorian's blue attack craft had been lost but its last location had been marked on the navigation equipment. Darth Valravus had already moved to the hangar before the ship made landfall roughly a few kilometers away. She had over forty troops under command. Sending out some scouts on speeder bikes ahead, they would hopefully come back with information on Mandalorian forces soon.

The corvette had space to land just before the green forest. In the distance sounds of artilary and explosions echoed. Smoke rising high into the sky slowly practically making it look like a solid mountain of billowing smoke. Decreasing in orbit were several mandalorian ships, already taking heavy damage and being dragged down by the gravitational pull of the planet. The planet capable of finishing them off in a few minutes and being ignored by the Imperial Fleet.

The Darth stood with her troops behind her. Looking over her shoulder the deck rumbled. Taking her step forward she began her walk towards the mandalorian's last known location. Once the Imperial forces had disembarked from the capitol ship the vessel would close and lock itself down, ready for any attacks from mandalorian forces and be ready to take off at Darth Valravus's order. Next to the Sith Lord, a being that looked like he perhaps should have been fighting against the Sith was actually working for her. Tagal Saxon, a mandalorian who was the husband of Skuld Stark.

It would have been inappropriate to have the Deucalians join in on this assault. She had last second asked how Tagal had felt about his own people and with his answer had asked if he would like to be paid well for working as an adviser for this assualt. "You will be alright with this, yes? No second thoughts?" She asked him. It was important that there was not any doubt that could lead to hesitation in battle. As a Deucalian she would have been fine fighting other Deucalians though she also supposed that if such a conflict came to pass it would be because she wanted to do it for herself and not anybody else. It would be different if it was someone else's agenda.

The troops had their gladius rifles drawn. Among them a few enforcer clad troopers carried javelin light repeaters as squad weapons. The rest of them had standard trooper armor. "Make sure your recorders are on. I want to capture everything." With the prospect of captured footage of thee combat for later she smiled. The air around her warrior braids began to buzz. short tendrils of slowly arcing turquoise electricity reached out between her shoulders. The white sclera of her eyes turning black as a result of her beginning to actively use the force. She began building it up in her core, a feeling pure bloodlust while she unsheathed her personal sith sword from her back. As she held it in he her hand, an occasional finger of electricity formed between the blade and the grass, causing no change in either but told a hint of the power she had at her disposal.

Did he have any second thoughts about fighting his own people, she was asking. They both knew that was what she was asking so there was little point in pretending otherwise.

Looking out at the planet before him, Tagal hummed once.

"I'm fine." He told her simply, "This isnt my home and it's been some time since they've been my people."

And the credits were good.

He was equipped as he always was (as per CS) and he was mentally preparing himself for combat. He checked his sights.

"Remember this is Mandalore - this is the capital. The homeland." He nodded once to the Sith, "So shoot twice and do not stop until they are incapable of moving."

The Meteor was flying as quickly as it could to the base it radioed a few minutes ago. Whoever was following really wanted him dead. They were tenacious, he would give them that. And he would make sure to give them one hell of a fight. Even if they couldn't win this, he would make them fight for every inch of ground.

He arrived at a base that looked like it took a bombardment of its own. It was in flames but the building was still quite intact. Instead of the landing pad along with the other mandalorian drop ships he parked his ship upright behind the building with its barrels barely peeking over the roof. He had an idea for that. He disembarked but ordered his co-pilot to kill all systems to keep the ship's signature low. There were 40 or so troops trying to get ready, let by some supercommando. NAturally the man wasn't too proud to take orders from a marauder but with a quick break of the nose and jaw shot Sumas was promoted for the moment. "Alright listen up, we only have a few minutes so let's get moving!" he shouted to the troopers.

They pillaged the armoury -or what's left of it- to stock up. Concussion missiles were loaded back into his ship. He took 2 extra mags for all his weapons as well as 2 extra frag and adhesive grenades on top of all his other weapons and gear(as per cs). The troopers were a colourful bunch, with heavy and medium armour along with pistols, rifles, even sniper rifles and repeaters. All ready to die for Mandalore. He wasn't planning on dying today, neither leading these troopers to their deaths. The drop ships were ready to fly in case they needed a quick exit.

Sumas had little time to check the terrain but with what little he had he made sure to use it. There were rocks, bushes, trees, all kinds of natural cover. Good cover. He heard the faint sound of speeders closing in a few minutes after the corvette finally landed. It locked down and its troops disembarked. Sumas was quick to order his men to take those scouts out before they could get a word in. If he was going to be blind, they will be blind as well. He had covered his red armour with mud and grass to cover himself then moved off to the side with the grace of a loth-cat. All his troops were also moving to flank. Hidden behind cover, invisible to the naked eye and most likely even difficult to pinpoint for any space wizards they might have. He watched from behind his cover as the enemy force got closer. Probably a couple hundred meters. His weapons were ready. His men were ready. He was trying to remain calm and collected to keep a low presence.

It got more difficult when he saw a familiar set of Beskar'gam walking beside the space witch with her fancy sword. Tagal Saxon. The only thing keeping him from giving his position away was the thought of getting to put a bolt through his traitorous head. Another deep breath. Some friends would be quite helpful in this situation.

His preparations were made. His troops covered and hidden, he himself covered and hidden as well. Their target was the troops. His own target was the witch and her dar'manda friend. Time to see if his preparations would pay off...

Fever

Levi was in a bar near the base when words of an attack began pouring through. Bars like these were common, popping up around military encampments on Mandalore alongside convenience stores and other shops, exploiting the fact that the soldiers within will need to buy goods from somewhere—and have a place to relax on off-days. He wasn't one of the soldiers but he was welcomed to laze around and drink all day, since he paid in credits just like they did.

Raising up from his booth as a man practically fell into the building and screamed "ATTACK!", Levi grabbed the bag he stored his stuff in and dumped a handful of chits onto the table. He was out of the establishment before the patrons could even begin to properly react, getting on his swoop and tearing down the road toward the base. The Padawan got there in moments, and could see the Imperial ships above as he approached. The sky was slowly turning black, and not because it was nighttime.

He parked his swoop by the entrance and then walked to the center of the base's courtyard, where battle was already raging and an Imperial paratrooper had just landed. No one asked why he was there—they just seemed focused on repelling the invaders. The Jedi reached for his lightsaber and his finger fell onto the button, ready to apply the pressure needed to ignite it.
As the enemies stepped out of the ship, he looked at the Imperial seal, which now was blatant and unapologetic in the light provided by the base. As Mandalorians prepared to engage with Sith, he, too stretched his arms a bit.

"Isn't there a treaty or something to prevent this exact thing from happening?" he mused to himself, igniting the lightsaber. The Mandalorians nearest to him flinched almost in unison as the red beam burst out--but relaxed as they saw it thrust into a nearby Imperial. There would be questions later. Levi knew that.

"Move up steady - spread out to cover the flanks as well. Push forward through the wood as a wave, not a spear."

If they advanced in a straight column, it would be easy to flank them and surround them. By advancing in a longer front, it minimized the chances of being flanked unknowingly. It was the tactical training he had learned as a Mandalorian warrior showing through.

Sometimes you didn't need to be a magic space wizard - sometimes you just needed to know how your opponents thought. And what better way for you to know when you yourself were someone who had grown up in their culture? The same training that the enemy had been through, Tagal had been through as well.

There was a base a few miles away that they were to be assaulting but right now they were in the forest and the trees and the rocks were good cover.

As the scouts began to engage on the flanks, Tagal knew that his caution and his tactical knowledge had been vindicated. Carefully making sure he was in cover behind a thick stone, he triggered his coms to contact the corvette's few remaining men and women.

"Open fire on the area ahead of us."

Blasting ahead of them was just good business. If there was a prepared ambush ahead of them then it would be foiled as their cover was blasted apart and if there wasn't then it would clear their path and allow them to move forwards with less difficulty. One of the few benefits of working with the Sith Empire, he supposed as the turrets opened fire on the cover ahead of them and their men, was simply this;

Shock and awe.

Sorry Vamp but you're in a whole different area so... see you in a few hours?

The scouts had done their job, moving forward, actively reporting the movements of the Mandalorians. Some of them were shot at and downed. That was to be expected. These warriors were crafty and many Imperial troops did not stack up against them. But in attacking some of the scouts they revealed their presence and confirmed that Valravus had thought. The base, still a few kilometers away would take some time to arrive at.

The Deucalian sith continued to move forward but gave the order for the troops to spread out into squads. They did not need to literally march into the enemy's territory. Clustered up would set them up for a rude awakening. The Sith Lord took out her grapple gun when she moved behind a large tree in between herself and the presence of murderous intent. Her blood rushing and with a quick action moved up into the branches above her previous place.

Standing in the crook of the tree her two different colored iris's reached out towards the area ahead of her. Combining her visual stimulai and her sixth sense she sought any significant life force in the blanketed area ahead. Not intending to stay there for long she would be ready to drop at a moment's notice. The troops and Tagal would possibly act as a flush. While she doubted anybody would see her up in the tree, in the shade of the branches and mostly obscured there was a chance a sharp eye would try to target her. However if they targeted her troops she would see that and be able to direct her forces as well. Any noticeable mandalorian movements would be relayed to Tagal and her soldiers.

His nose full with the scent of war, eyes tearing up from the smoke, Levi charged forward and up the ladder leading to the battlement of the wall facing the Imperial forces. There were a few others there, doing their best to get a good look at the invaders. He was about to pick up a rifle when the forest came alive before his very eyes; as hellfire rained down on the tress ahead, the land was turned to a blazing inferno. The Jedi watched as bodies flew and blood and mud sprayed up, covering the men on the ground.

"Retreat!" he heard one yell, clutching his arm. "Back to the base!" Some of the warriors heard and began making a run back for the gates of base before they closed, but others pressed through the burning forest, ducking under flaming branches and leaping over bodies. Levi was helping another Mandalorian close the doors, watching his back as the man put the code in. Slowly, they began sliding shut, thick durasteel blocks that would keep everything out—even their soldiers. It was highly likely the Imperials would choose to rain hell on them from above as they had done to the forest, so the Padawan leapt off the battlement and headed for cover.

The base was as ready as it would ever be on such short notice. It was time to see how well-armed the Empire was.

The initial squads of mandalorians that had maneuvered through the forest were spotted. Their rushed defense amidst the trees and bushes were not enough for the sweeping Imperial troops. Short firefights and exchanges of blaster fire occurred before most of them were either wounded too badly to fight or killed outright. The spacing of squad weapons like the light repeaters and Darth Valravus's relayed information allowed them to pinch those within sight.

The undergrowth burned, smoldering and causing smoke to rise due to the moisture in the plants. The fire would not spread too greatly though. Laser cannons, while destructive were not meant for firebombing an enemy. It however did allow an additional few dozen meters of clear uninterrupted sight lines for the Sith Lord and her troops.

Dropping down she coushioned her fall with the force and resumed advancing with her group. Her sword at her side. They kept a slow and steady pace, not chasing after the mandalorians or running them down as they fell back. "Keep an eye out for traps. They may be trying to draw us into an ambush." They had certainly lost more warriors than they had initially intended. But booby traps, even if used as a backup in the case of the Mandalorian's initial failed defense, could still cause a blow to her forces.

The rows of trees obscured the direct line of sight to the base. The scout troopers continued to harry the retreating mandalorians like cavalry, not allowing them to stop along the way and form positions of defense. It was only when the warrior people were within a few hundred meters of their base did the scout troopers leave them alone, allowing them to get back to their walls. Weak and dying mandalorians that were last surviving members of their squads were shot in the back or finished off by Darth Valravus or her troops.

When the trees were starting to get less dense and the Sith saw the walls of the base a few hundred meters ahead she told her troops to halt and take up defensive positions in the treeline for the time being. They would need to look at the base and a short bit of recon before trying to infiltrate or lay siege to it. Perhaps Tagal had some bright ideas.

Fools.

The lot of them were nothing but fools. They stood and they fought because they knew nothing else. The Empire wanted them dead because they had fought and clawed for the Galaxy. Now Tagal was all about a good scrap and he didn't like the Empire either - but he didn't think that the best option for the Mandalorian people was to bloody the nose of the Empire and then try and flip them the finger by trying to do the whole "empire" thing for themselves.

To Tagal, Mandalorians were fighters, not Imperials, and they should stick to who they were.

But regardless, it meant that the combat continued. The fire rained down by the corvette tore through everything in it's path ahead of them, shattering stone and splintering the wood of the trees as the Imperial forces advanced behind the creeping barrage. The Mandalorians who attempted to take shots on the Imperials were unable to escape the explosive might and those who ran were open to being shot in the back.

Tagal didn't bother to fire even at the Mandalorians who were writhing around on the ground on fire.

Moving with the Imperials, Tagal took cover behind one of the last trees in the treeline before the Mandalorian base. It was easy enough for him to get a brief look without exposing himself too greatly. He hummed a little bit as he eyed the fortifications ahead of them.

Including a young man leaping from the battlements without worry.

"Might be some Force user in there - guy jumping off walls without a jetpack or jump boots." he told his Sith ally as he scanned the battlements through the sights of his blaster, "The gate itself is too thick for anything we can bring against it. We need to avoid using the gate entirely."

He tapped the side of his helmet as he switched to com link rather than audible conversation.

"Call in air support to break through the walls either side of the gate but before the towers - it's the weakest point in the walls. You and I will need to take the high ground. Break the walls down, sound the charge through the breaches and you and I eliminate the effectiveness of the gate as an obstacle by going over it."

The fires subsided until the charred forest was reduced to black, smoldering trees with spider-like branches now devoid of any leaves. Though the flames were mostly gone, the temperature remained hellish, even more so. Anyone stepping through it would have to fight against a heat so
intense it was like they were stepping inside a grill. Many Mandalorians didn't make it back to the base, succumbing as they were cooked alive inside their armor. Some Imperial troops seemed apprehensive about pushing forth, seeing the fate that befell their enemies. Others tried to move forward, only to retreat as their skin was met with burning air. This would buy the Mandalorians some time.

Now off the battlements, he began heading for the main building of the base, eyes already scanning the entrance for any weaknesses. The others had done a fairly good job at barricading, which meant he was stuck outside in the court yard—but so were the Imperials, until they breached through. Which Levi was determined to prevent. As he stepped forward, the ground shook as the sky screamed, and the Padawan's eyes snapped up just in time to see the ships above—barely visible—tearing through the blackness. Bombs slammed into the main building and the courtyard, sending bodies once again flying and raising shouts and yells as disoriented Mandalorians tried to understand what was happening.

He was thrown off balance by a bomb that detonated nearby, burning a crater into the dirt meters away from him, and Levi scrambled back up, clutching his lightsaber in one hand and using the other to lift himself up before another bomb came. He ran like hell itself was on his heels, charging headfirst several dozen meters through the courtyard until he reached cover—a small kiosk with a durasteel roof that had been used by scouts, judging by the ruined gear littering the floor.

The kiosk had small, waist-height walls on each side and obscured Levi from any bombers ahead, but that would mean nothing when the Imperials pushed through. The advance was likely to kick start once more now, he considered, seeing that the entire wall of the base that the Imperials were trying to breach had been reduced to rubble. There would be nothing stopping them now.

He ignited his lightsaber again.

Chaos erupted in the forest. As the imperial troopers got right on top of the Mandalorians, blaster fire erupted and soldiers dropped to the ground as they either got a leg blown off or a bolt through the head. But despite the fighting the Mandalorians were losing, getting outflanked and outmaneuvered. As if they had a bird's eye view. Sumas then started to figure out that the space witch had been missing for a good while...

Knowing the first contact was lost he ordered a retreat, which went a lot rougher than he planned as the forest lit up with bombarding fire from the corvette. They quickly lost a massive chunk of the platoon, but they couldn't stay any longer. Let the traps do the work for them...

Grenade bouquets dropped from the trees, claymores went off and sniper fire hammered the imperials just as hard as they hammered the Mandalorians. It wouldn't last long, though, as they quickly figured out to watch their step. Sumas put some extra pressure on them by harassing them with blaster fire as they retreated. Some of his men were shot in the back trying to relocate, but at least a few got away. The whole time they were shooting and scooting, covering their backsides as they retreated. Their cover was literally blown, as the trees smoldered and the ground burned. Sumas didn't get away unscathed as a bolt skimmed along his left upper arm, burning away skin and searing flesh. With gritted teeth he pressed on, moving back and firing as he went.

Hiding behind a tree he connected with the base as he reloaded his carbine. The last-minute defences were set up and they were waiting on the survivors. Finally, after what felt like hours Sumas arrived at the base just in time as the gates were starting to close. What was interesting was the guy jumping from the battlements as if it were nothing. Either that was a Sith with a death wish or it was a problem for later. Either way, the one with the sword and the traitor was a bigger issue to him right now. Sumas stumbled into the base, looking around as men ran all around him. "To your posts! They'll be here in a few minutes!" he barked at the troopers.

Standing in the courtyard behind the main gate he quickly stocked up on his ammunition by a nearby case. "Make sure the ships are ready. If we need to get out we won't have time to prep!" he ordered to a nearby soldier, who nodded and ran off to the landing pads behind the base. Though as if things couldn't get any worse, he heard the howling of bomber engines in the distance. His heart sank as he watched the imperial bombers come flying in and dropping their payloads in the courtyards and against the walls. He hid as the bombs dropped, watching as the walls came down. "Get those repeaters up here!" he barked over the comms as the explosions went off around him.

The sound of a nearby lightsaber drew his attention and a Strill levelled with the stranger. What he immediately picked up was the crimson colour of the blade. "You've got a death wish, sith!" he said coldly, his T-visor staring through the man. The troopers arrived with repeaters, looking to Sumas. "Set them up to bottleneck those entrances. They breach that wall, I want them clawing for every inch." he ordered, glancing to watch them running off to set up.

With no time to argue with the stranger he dropped his gun arm. "You're either helping or you're dead. Your choice!" he said to the stranger, turning his attention to the broken walls.

The advance had been hard fought but it was a Sith victory in more ways than one. Imperial forces were made up of all kinds of races, even if human was the majority still, and they were from thousands of different planets and all trained to a decent standard - they were to be used with care for their lives but they were, at the end of the day, expendable and cheap to replace. Mandalorians warriors, on the other hand, were still mainly from the typical Mandalorian space and, on average, took more time and effort to be deemed good enough to be warriors.

In the cold, hard, calculus of war, the Mandalorians had the quality but lacked the quantity to stand in the face of the Imperial numbers and not inconsiderable skill. As he watched the bombing run begin, he turned his head to regard the Sith Lord and spoke to her over their private com line.

"Gotta love a woman with some firepower." he joked casually, "I can see why my wife likes you."

Slinging his rifle onto his back securely, he drew one of his blaster pistols in his right hand and readied the tech he had in his left hand. His jetpack was also primed and ready to go as he waited for the environment between himself and the base to be ready for the advance and for the boss lady to give her go ahead.

"On your mark."

Darth Valravus waited deep in the treeline along with the rest of her men. The scouts continued to cover the flanks now, checking for possible enemy approaches and not risking getting attacked in a frontal assault. The distant thump of artillery rolled across the distance as the attack on Mandalore continued regardless of what was going on here.

Pulling out her comlink she connected herself with her personal vessel still in the hangar bay of the corvette a few kilometers behind them. "Bring my lash forward and hit the following coridnates. Minimal load. I just need the door opened. Then take out the anti-air north of us."

Hearing confirmation over the secure line the sith lord put her commlink away and looked towards her men. "Move everyone back another hundred meters.." The Lash heavy starbomber carried up to one hundred proton bombs. She just had ordered several be dropped on the gate.

There was an anti-air turret further norther which is why the corvette had landed further away. But the heavy starbomber would be flying low for most of the distance and with its heavy military shields and hardy reputation the vessel would be able to weather the storm of defensive ordnance enough to place several bombs on its first target before taking out the anti-air.

Just as planned the ship would come over the trees, the sound of laser cannon damage added to the din of battle overhead while the ground stayed silent. The troops on the ground kept their eyes on the mandalorian fortification, waiting for their way to be opened up. A resounding explosion rocked the area as the bombs fell, blasting the wall wide open. No sign of the original gate remained. The parapets further down slopped towards one another showing the crater, or at least it would once the cloud of dust and ash settled. Even the sith troops in the treeline still would swear about feeling the heat and the ground shake beneath their feet. The path was open though not visible, not yet. Valravus's personal bomber continuing its elimination of enemy placements to the north.

A Mandalorian had noticed him and did not seem to approve, but that was nothing new for Levi. As he opened his mouth, the ground shook once more, and the gate of the outpost came alive. Rock and durasteel booming in all directions, the explosion blasted out a good portion of the fence—along with the gate itself. Smoke lifted, shielding both sides from one another's vision, but the Mandalorians—Mandalorian as ever—opened fire nevertheless. A flurry of blaster bolts rained into the smoke, likely hitting a decent amount of the more unsuspecting and green-faced Imperials on the other side.

As the Empire's soldiers began running through the smoke into the fortress, the repeaters came alive too, blasting man after man as they formed a bottleneck at the gate. Still, they climbed over their own comrades' corpses, clawing their way in. For a moment, Levi watched the display in shocked silence. This was nothing new for the Empire, but it was different seeing it without the veil of darkness over his eyes. It was different seeing it from an uncorrupted perspective.

Then, he shifted into action, not that it mattered much. "Get the sides!" he yelled over the commotion, hands frantically waving to form a wall around the entrance to prevent any Imperials from getting in through the sides of the bottleneck.

From behind the wall of frantic Imperial soldiers came a flurry of bolts, precise from the lack of smoke, which had cleared. They slammed into the gunners behind the repeaters, ridding the Empire of a worry. The ones that survived kept firing, struggling to keep up but failing. The soldiers got through nevertheless.

Levi vaulted over the kiosk's wall, feet meeting the ground head on—and lightsaber meeting an Imperial head on. The man's body spasmed and fell, not dead but stunned for likely the remainder of the day. He swung again.

The gate finally gave in. Sumas hoped it would hold up a bit longer, but unfortunately he would have to make do with what he got.

When the walls came down, the repeaters opened fire along with everything else in the courtyard. Sumas took cover behind a stall, opening fire at the cloud of smoke and dust. The Sith charge would meet a wall of blaster fire that tore them apart. Soon enough corpses littered the way into the base with repeaters and blasters continuously firing with everything they got. Sumas's eyes scanned the whole area, looking for the traitor and his Sith lackey. He knew they weren't stupid enough to come through the center, not without some kind of assistance.

Finally the smoke cleared and the remaining Sith had a chance to fire back. Some of the repeaters fell but a few still kept firing along with the other riflemen still keeping the wall of bolts up. The courtyard became a bloodbath, with losses on both sides. From his side he saw the force user attack an imperial. Thankfully Sumas' hopes were true, this man was helping them. But this wasn't the time to sit around, gawking at space wizards using laser swords. Now he had to fire with everything he got.

He threw the empty cell in his gun off to the side and locked in a fresh cell before taking aim again. He took out a few more troopers coming through where the gate once stood but overall he was keeping an eye out for the two main targets.

The distance between the treeline and the now broken wall would have been suicide to cross for any normal troops in normal circumstances. But the dust and debris thrown up in the explosions from the proton bomb helped obsecure the area, the gentle wind that was at odds with the chaos of war did little to remove the smoke out of the way. Any sensible defender had tried to get out of the way of the explosions, forcing them to rush to get back into position after the damage was done.

Darth Valravus was quiet. He eyes darting, looking through the dust for any sign of enemy silouhette. Her own blood pumping through her body thundering in her ears just as loud as the blaster shots from warriors on either side going off nearby. She needed to drive her blade deep into the enemy. Troops on either side let loose bolts. Yellow blaster fire giving away mandalorian's positions and red for the empire. The shriek rifles of the mandalorians had their unique sounds as did the gladius rifles of the sith. Subconciously her mind was able to process that to determine which direction the enemy was coming from.

She never stopped, not a blaster bolt touched her as she moved through the cloud until she leaped out the other side. Some of the smoke trailing behind her. In her hand she had her sith sword held in an overhead strike. Her body traveled several meters from the force of her leap before it would touch down on the ground with a mandalorian in front of her, slowly parting into two pieces having been cleaved in half. Blood splattered her own face. It was warm to the touch just like the gore that now coated the dark blade before her.

Marauders to either side of their now dead comrade looked at the Sith Lord that was already upon them. Soon after the first of the imperial followed through the smoke. Blaster bolts caught the two mandalorians on either side of her, not forcing her to take any action against them.

The battle would continue now on the inside of the fortified position. This was the breach and it was close quarters. Blasters used as clubs as people started desperately to try to kill the enemy before they killed them. It was wholehearted violence with death and survival as the only two options. Darth Valravus smiled.

Tagal didn't waste time running through the smoke or anything like that - oh nothing so droll. Instead he activated his jetpack and rocketed up through and out of the dust cloud, emerging above it. Now with a much clearer view of the whole situation, Tagal moved forwards to come behind the Mandalorian lines.

With them focused on the Imperials and him clearly a Mandalorian, there was no fire headed his way because there was no reason to assume he was against them. There had been Mandalorians stuck outside after all so he could very well just be a member of those cut off men and women gaining some altitude to break free from Imperial ranks.

Free from much danger, Tagal hung in the air for a second to aim his wrist rocket before launching it. Unlike what the Mandaloirians would have expected, Tagal fired his rocket from above and behind the Jedi to impact where he was standing from behind. It would be exploding right at the base of his feet from a blind spot and from a position thought to be friendly.

With the rocket away, Tagal began to move through the air again, firing twice down at the head of one of the more persistent Mandalorians (Sumas) was laying fire into the Imperials.

The battle was lost. That much was clear. No matter how much he disagreed or thought otherwise, he couldn't deny the fact that they needed to break off and get away from here.

Sumas kept firing with his rifle, moving backwards along with the remaining other Mandalorians. They weren't that far from the secondary gate. It wasn't nearly as big as the primary one and would not stand a chance against concentrated fire, but it would buy them time to get away and that's what mattered. Through the smoke he saw the Sith Lord emerge with her barbaric blade in hand, cleaving a soldier in half. He had to admit that she at least had a good taste in her blades. He might have to get one of those too. He also easily noticed as Tagal flew into the air over the base. He could feel his blood boil at the sight of the smug traitor. He just called his position out to the rest of the soldiers when he saw the missile coming for the friendly force user. Out of instinct he yanked the man away from the missile's radius and moved back to the base's doors.

Though Tagal didn't get an easy shot in. Before he fired, Sumas aimed at him and fired 3 rounds at his center mass. It was simply meant to throw him off and keep him busy. The two rounds coming at him were easily avoided by side-stepping them. Finally he found his way into the base along with the force user who he ushered in. Sealing the door they all retreated through the building to the hangar at the back. A bunch of ships would emerge a few minutes later, while the imperials were still either getting through the door or working through the few Mandalorians that stayed to hold them off. Various Mandalorian ships of all shapes and sizes, with the Meteor in the mix. They would all scatter and flee either to other parts of the planet or out of the system entirely, facing the fact that they were soundly beaten.

The base would belong to the Sith. The Mandalorians were crushed with heavy casualties and humiliatingly routed. Sumas would have brought Tagal's treason to attention but odds of anything happening over that is most likely non-existent. All in all...the day could have gone a lot better.

THEME
They had broken the Mandalorian defense. They continued to fall back, more scattered and in fewer numbers with each passing moment. Blaster bolts still struck imperial troops as they moved to make a sweeping advance on the Mandalorians. The local warriors were on their backfoot and both sides knew it.

Darth Valravus continued to push against those not quick enough to fall back. The large troop ships that had come down through the clouds were now clear to land closer thanks to the Sith's bomber taking out the anti-air installations. The troops lost driving the mandalorians back were reinforced a hundred times over. Those that rooted themselves in were either killed or detained.

Clouds of smoke rose in the distance as the bombings continued. Slowly, the battle noises slowed. Blaster shots, cries of pain, sounds of fear were carried on the wind. What came next was no longer a battle. Executions were in order. Some of the troops took it upon themselves to avenge their dead squad mates. Others were still hyped from the battle. Darth Valravus had seen it all before. Now, with her troops having recorded everything there would be a chance for others to see it as well.

Her own blade had quickly become covered with blood. Her appearance smattered with dark crimson and soot from fires she hhad gone through. The dust from the earlier proton bombs was gone save for a faint haze in the air. The troop leaders came to her and Tagal. They would lead thhe followig securing of the area. The troops led by her would return to their ship. The wounded would be evacuated or treated depending on severity.

Darth Valravus bent down before leaving. She knelt down to a mandalorian warrior. Her armor was not too different in size to her own. Pulling off the helmet she stared at the lifeless eyes underneath. The woman's braided hair slightly messy from the unavoidable disturbances that battle tended to bring. Sighing she stood back up, taking the helmet with her. "How are Mandalorian funerals conducted Tagal? Mass graves or cremation yes?" She already knew the answer. The Deucalian wondered how he felt though, seeing so many of his people killed. The troops would be able to accommodate the burials or cremetions in the following days. But this one, this woman's armor that had fought against her. She would keep it to remember this moment.

The Empire was here to teach the Mandalorian faction a lesson. They were here to damage their culture and strike not only at the people but their way of life. Darth Valravus still respected them enough to give a dead warrior the proper burial rites. However their armors would be confiscated and likely melted down to prevent the younger generations from having any piece of armor to remember their ancestors or relatives by. They would just have the bones.

Tagal dipped and dived to avoid the return fire. It was irritating that he hadn't managed to get the kill but it wasn't a big deal in the grand scheme of things really and if it kept him from getting shot then it was always the preferred outcome. Looking out over the scene before him as the Mandalorian leaders fled and those unlucky enough to be left behind and those too stupid to retreat began fighting to the last.

Some of them were captured of course.

"Traitor!"

He glanced at one of the kneeling Mandalorians who had spoken.

"Weakling."

He fired once, blasting the man's skull open without a second of hesitation or remorse. The people here were being slaughtered or captured to be interrogated and then killed. And all of it... meant so very little to him. Tagal had spent so long away from his people that it was honestly hard to think of them as his people anymore. They had turned their backs on him after he had turned to grief in the wake of losing his family so he felt justified in doing the same now.

Glancing at the Sith Lord, he paused for a moment as he looked out across the devastation and the bodies that were, quite literally, piling high and he turned to look at her fully.

"Do as you like to them." he told her as he turned on his heel, "Frankly, I don't give a damn."
