Nah, just work with what you have at the moment and keep their characters in the background or having gone off to a different area.

Also, sorry for the noob question, but how is one supposed to go about replacing someone in a thread? Just have the character have been trailing a bit farther behind them the whole time?

I'd recommend some flavor in this case like your character was on their way as well, but was behind so we went ahead in case the Sith came without waiting for you.

Or smth like that at any rate.

Ah, unfortunately it isn't, we have three people continuing on that thread currently. (@FloopTroop you're actually up in Leave No Jedi Behind!)
However, we do have some open spots in the Local Logistics mission pack, as we need to restart Hunting the Hunters and An Elephant Always Remembers.
