Valin felt old, older than he had any right too. He had already died once, and it seemed like death was creeping up on him again. He had spent years now just biding his time, an outcast among the Jedi, a criminal wanted by the Sith, and of all things a hero to the now vanquished Republic. At least he had his friends, all of two of them, but even there things hadn’t been going the way he would have liked them to. Corvo was off Corvoing the Sith in some new way, and Shae was...well no one really knew where Shae was. The only good thing was that their kid had grown up, which meant no more babysitting duty for him. Thank the Force for that, he would’ve probably killed himself if he had to change one more diaper.

But now, the series of accidents that had earned him friends, gotten him killed, made him a wanted criminal, and even gotten him a new body, seemed to have brought him to his death. He was no politician, nor was he a strategist, so he wasn’t really sure why the Jedi were fighting the Mandalorians, but they were. Normally things like that did not bother him, but now here he was facing off against one of the mandalorian warriors and this more immediate danger he did worry about.

He wondered how it would seem like to any observer, two masked figures facing off in the midst of a battle, an inconsequential fight at best. But Valin had the feeling this was going to be anything but inconsequential, he had the nagging feeling that this might be how he died.
