Are we going to have any space combat here or are we skipping directly to the ground battle?

We should be ready for Republic space interference, but it looks like people jumped to the ground which is fine with me if its fun for the PCs involved. Whichever you guys prefer, I don't mind letting a space battle slide.

If you want to use your Admiral, he can be used for aerial support or bombings or controlling deployments until the inevitable Republic commander comes along.

Edit*

Republic will NOT get involved with Dorin. we will have " something" planned but wont be a engagement.

it's not republic, wont be till 5k, nor has the Jedi built their enclave yet, so the baran-do cult is in power.

their technology based economy has yet to develop, and wont until the JEdi are present, then wont bloom in full till 5k ( meaning in this era the planet if it's known at all is ignored as a real valuable local

There is no real value to it's location. More over considering that the twin black holes, even in modern SW times are hard and deadly to navigate.... and the toxic atmosphere makes it costly to keep sending out breath masks and the air tanks....

HOWEVER anyone wanting to play the locals feel free.

I'd be fine playing a local NPC. What resourced do they have at their disposal?

TBH, if the Republic won't defend Dorin then it is most likely that the Kel-Dors will just surrender to the Hutts, or at least try to negotiate with them.

I agree with Samo. If the Republic doesn't defend Dorin then the reinforcement battlegroups will just do the invading and the Mandalorians would probably push to their next target, which they've already been given.

Would it be okay to push to the next target?

I'm still sending someone out there while they would still be bogged down, I got the feeling that the natives were pretty well organized and would put up a resistance for a time. -.^

that and them showing up there is triggering us to mass and entrench outside Rondai ^_^

They're not going to last long at all against a battlegroup comprised almost entirely of Mandalorian elite and another with more Mando's in addition to Hutt soldiers.

ooh I know that.... but at the end of the day... Im sending someone out there to do_something_ but it's more conducive to stage massive buildups and patrols and blockades based out of Rondai and Haven ^_^

Let's not get into the habit of thinking a planet is just going to surrender to the Hutts. Whether the Hutts see it this way or not, the Republic is more or less seen as the good guys in the galaxy whereas the Hutts are the evil ones. That's how this timeline was designed. People are likely going to resist the evil empire until they can no longer do so.

On the other hand, you won't really be able to patrol the whole planet either unless you expend vast amounts of resources into doing so or you find some suitable stooge at some point to act as a local control over the planet.

my big thing was this. Dorin is not republic and offers little but again Im sending " someone" out there ^_^

reports of the hutts showing up there, and in the size they showed up with tells me the aim it to ride things into the inner rim and get at coruscant. forcing a conflict right there is a bad idea. it's better to start building up where the planets are closer and force a series of major grind fests

so attacking dorin was a good ting in a way because it gives really advanced warning.

and black holes......

Ah, is this related to Matt recruiting commandos to do a mission for you?

Is there a deadline for Republic PC's to show up on Dorin? I don't feel like slaughtering hopelessly outmatched NPC's untill they can get together and show up two weeks later.

Matt should most likely have them read to go some point today

so if nobody wants to at least play out the local defenses I'd say free form it to at the very least give it more merit

I'd be fine with NPCing the local forces if that's all right with everyone though I make no promises on how well I'd do.

Need some more Force Sensitives. I'm guessing the Shamans or some Jedi would probably reside on this planet. I'm half expecting Jedi Reinforcements anyway, seeing as you know... This slaughter of NPCs must be rippling the force pretty damn badly.

But yeah, some challenging NPCing would be beautiful rather than sending us fodder to mow through for a week or two before we claim the planet.
