it would suck for all my RPs to be cut off.

Not necessarily. We do allow people to finish up any RPs they are currently in with their dead character. We just don't allow more RPs to be created.

Especially with the lack of warning we had. The attack threads were up before an announcement or anything was made. (Though, this may be how it always is for all I know. I'm just used to before the TS where everything was announced with battles and stuff.)

This is how it usually is. Some have sign up threads and what not, but others are still surprise attacks. The ones before the time skip were not the norm. Those were deliberately constructed and pre-planned in order to get us to the point where we could ha

Is there anyway to have guaranteed survival for a character without having him off sipping booze on a different planet?

There's no guarantee, no.

That may be a stupid question, but I really have made so many plans, and I see this as a great way of story development as a whole if he does survive. Something I would love to RP for months afterwards. (Since his son and wife will be killed in the attack. NPCs and all.) Doesn't make sense to me that you'd kill PCs and destroy the whole faction. A lot of NPCs, and inactive/busy PCs are going to lose their characters anyways.

PC deaths are important. It raises the stakes. It makes people RP better, it energizes the site, it makes people want to strike back, etc. The deaths are usually what have the most impact. If there were never any deaths unless a person gave permission for their character to die, the stakes of the RP would be pretty low. There'd be less incentive to tell this big galactic story - which we've seen over the last few months when all the very minor conflicts that happened after the skip were all no deaths threads. They fizzled out, no one cared, there were no stakes, and so forth.

Sisk and I are working on that now. Have a lot to figure out, cause Sisk, Graves, and Elias are ICly on the way back from a mission at this time. Thinking they'll arrive when the attacks happening, or something of that sort. Those of you on the planet? We're still working on what we're doing about that.

We don't want to make it so we're sitting this out, so we will be arriving during the assault. (Even though the time is a little coincidental.) Waiting for Sisk to get the first post up, seeing as he's sticking around and staying in charge.

Let those on the planet die, survive.

Also, for the love of God someone start posting in the IC thread.

Realistically, it would need to be the summit in order to fit with the course of events. If I'm not mistaken the invasion takes place only a day or two from the failed meeting

Not exactly, Vereor went from the failed summit to Coruscant for a Dark Council meeting. Then Rom said 4 days after the DC meeting on Coruscant the attacks were launched. Because the Council meeting was where Andraste basically said "kill em all."

So attacks would be 5 days or so after the Summit.

Ah, okay. Thanks for the clarification.

Just to clarify, arriving from beyond the system is fine - just be aware that there is a pretty significant number of Sith ships in orbit, so you'll need to factor that in to your arrival and any plans to get planetside.

That was the plan yes. It's going to be pretty shocking/a wake up call for those arriving. (Or so I gather. Still haven't heard back from Sisk.)

I'm going to post this here before I make a post. It is completely unfair that the Imperium gets to just auto hit and auto kill PC players from orbit. It goes against any kind of fair play, and also takes away any sense of cooperation. I am not going to force any PC characters to participate in a battle where they don't even have a chance to go out in a way that allows them to tell a good story. It would be like a random sniper putting a bullet through a Sith's head from a kilometer away and then saying that it was fair. If that happened, the outrage and reports would pour in, and the admins would be forced to respond. It has been clearly established, with precedent, that anything that can harm a PC character has to be done in such a way that they have a chance to respond.

So this is for all Renelo members, if you want to allow the imps to kill you from orbit like cowards, without even being given the chance to strike back, go ahead. I wouldn't. I'm making this an official complaint, as the Imperium being so intent on not landing ground troops takes away any sense of story, fair play, and equality in this thread. You want to kill my, and any other member's characters, you're going to have to work for it, instead of just pulling your "Oh, we're the Imperials so we win automatically." card. PC deaths should come from PC characters, not an NPC bombardment. If there's risk to us, there should be risk to you, too.

No one said PCs were going to be auto-killed.

Sure seems like it to me. The Imps have been adamant that they're not landing ground troops, which means nothing but an orbital bombardment and shooting down ships trying to flee. That says auto kill. Because you know they're just going to pull the same stuff they did in the Blockade thread, where they just claim that they ion everything, except instead of capturing them, they'll just blow it up while it's defenseless.

The base is deep enough, as established in the write up, to survive bombardment. They want to kill Clan Renelo, they're going to have to come down and do it like men.
