DESCRIPTION
The Asperse-class cruiser is a vessel used by the Sith Empire primarily as a ship-of-the-line; with its large guns, armor and shields, it is meant primarily for taking on other capital warships, such as enemy frigates and cruisers. It is also sometimes used in a siege role, being a centerpiece of planetary bombardment operations and similar fleet engagements.

The Asperse is one of the most heavily armed Sith warships for its size, equipped with 30 dual medium laser turrets, 20 dual heavy laser turrets and 10 of turbolaser turrets, allowing it to deal with most capital ships of similar size easily enough. Notably, however, the type does not possess weapons or targeting systems which are particularly effective against starfighters and other small, very maneuverable craft, making them dependent on support vessels such as the Malfeasance-class corvette to fend off attacks from such vessels. The Asperse does have dual under-slung hangar bays, however, and can carry up to 20 starfighters of its own, plus an octet of shuttles.

Asperse-class cruisers, due to their vulnerability against starfighters, typically operate within fleets, or in tandem with support vessels such as the aforementioned Malfeasance. They are among the largest vessels operated by the Imperial Navy, and form the backbone of the Sith Order of Battle.

LEGALITY
Restricted. Asperse-class cruisers are not as common as other Sith warships, and are considered capital craft, generally making them illegal for civilian ownership. Almost all extant examples are also property of the Sith Empire.

INTENT
To create a standard type of cruiser used by the Imperial fleet.

ADVANCED TECH
Yes. Asperse-class cruisers are not trivial to buy, steal or otherwise acquire, and it would take a plot to do so.
