The Junta of Jiguuna

Enforcer.
The name was more than just a title, it was a duty. A duty to uphold the laws of crime, a concept that was alien to most. As such, when his Brother, Nor’baal the Younger – and enforcer of the Hutt Cartel, specifically the Deasjilic Family – had ordered him to take care of a local gang leader who was ‘in a deep hole, which he just kept on digging’, Yur’baal had been more than happy to issue justice.

Of course, the Gang Leader ‘Kaad’ hadn’t been aware he had borrowed 2 million from the Vesajilics, but on paper it all added up. Kaad has been loaned 2 million credits by the family, Yur’baal specifically, and he had not paid it back. He had to pay, literally, and in blood.

Being a One Tonne flab of moving Slug, Yur’baal wasn’t too keen on doing it himself, so he had arranged a ‘Combat Match’ between Kaad and an elected Champion of the Vesajilics, the price being Kaads life.

As he arrived at the arena, little more than a small tavern with a ring in it, Yur’baal approached their champion – a certain ‘Hammer’ – who had been ‘elected’ with a 1 million credit fee….

I don't understand why I'm doing this.

Because someone called in a favor with good reasons.

The entity known as the Hammer couldn't argue with that. Ever since Mjolla and her accomplices had come up with the base proposal of this new secret rebellion plot, the Hammer had actually gone along with it. When it was being honest with itself, the deadly creature had to admit that it had grown bored with the galaxy's current situation. Still, little things like this were beneath it.

I would have thought a million credits would be enough to justify your involvement.

You've made money meaningless, woman.

And yet you're still intrigued, at least.

It would do well to remind some of these scum what fear is.

The building wasn't much. A warehouse-turned-tavern-turned-fighting ring. It was rather famous around Nal Hutta for being the lowest-of-the-low in terms of dueling combat. There was a growing crowd outside of it. Of course, that parted rather quickly when a massive juggernaut walks through. Already word had spread. Some had even thought to bring weapons with them. Maybe make a name for themselves as having killed the Hammer. Now though, when they looked upon the armored warrior, that bravado turned to cold terror.

"I've arrived as requested," the metal behemoth announced as Yur'baal approached, its voice sounding as deep as a Hutt's, "Where's this opponent you wish me to face?"

The Hammer.

It was a legend in the Cartel, a living, breathing, weapon.
And for the hefty sum of a million credits, its full force was about to be brought to bear on these...vermin.

Yur'baal whispered to the Hammer, outlying his requirements for this particular service. <Drag this out Hammer. Kill only those who harm you. This gangsters must learn the true meaning of fear.> he whispered before moving the center of the ring, and spreading his arms wide as he spoke in a booming voice.

<We are a brotherhood. A family. And a family always pays its debts to their own. The Vesajilics are the fathers, and you are the sons, and when the son steps over the line, the son must be struck in order to know his place. We, kindly, granted you our favor, and you did not repay it. You will pay for this crime.> he cried out, as the Gang jeering and booed. Yur'baal clicked his fingers, summoning from the back of the room two of his Yuzzem, dragging between them the messenger who had denied the Vesajilics their money.

Forcing the man to kneel before him, the Yuzzem withdrew, and Yur'baal drew his Vibro-Blade, cutting the mans throat, watching the outrage in the surrounding gangers. Their leader stood up, walking to the arena, gun in hand.

''Hutt, or not. Hammer, or not. We kneel to no-one!'' he shouted, facing the Hammer.

Yur'baal signaled.

The fight began.

The tension hung in the room like a thick blanket over everyone, making it almost hard to breathe for some. The leader of the gang eyed the Hammer with a mixture of bravery, anger, and...fear? Yes, there was a slight amount of intimidation there but he was covering it with his blustering rage. The armored titan merely turned toward him shrugged. It then began to do a most curious thing: removing its weaponry. Naturally the crowd was a bit taken aback by this. The leader, Kaad, himself was perplexed and began to holster his own weapon.

"No, you're going to need that," the Hammer declared, its voice echoing in the thick silence, before hopping into the arena, "I'm ready whenever you are."

The ring had a rather decent 10-meter diameter so Kaad didn't worry all that much about missing. Plus there wasn't any cover to hide behind, so he thought his odds were good. No armor could stand up to a full clip from his heavy pistol. There was a couple seconds of silence before he raised the weapon as quickly as he could muster and began pulling the trigger in rapid succession.

Eight shots rang out, nearly deafening many members of the crowd, though the cheering was far greater. They had all seen the shots strike the Hammer though some had to admit that the brilliant flashes of blaster bolts striking something had blinded them momentarily. Kaad himself was feeling rather pleased with himself and was merely waiting with anticipation for the titan to fall over dead.

"You really need to work on your grouping," the dreaded voice declared. The Hammer lowered its left arm, dispelling the MagSeal shield which it had used to protect itself with. Even it had to admit that this Kushari armor was of the very best variety. There was an audible silence again as they watched the impossible occur before their very eyes. The Hammer was speaking. The Hammer was alive. The entity itself was bemused at the slowly-churning thought of realization stirred within each gang member.

"That ain't possible!" Kaad finally declared with a shaky shout, "You cheated!"

Now it was the Hammer's turn to laugh, but it did so quietly. It began to approach the human male at a slow walk. Kaad was quickly realizing that the very things he'd thought worked to his advantage now doomed him. The circular ring had nowhere for him to go nor did it provide one ounce of protection against the monster that approached him. Every step was the ringing of a memorial bell for his funeral.

The killer was mildly surprised, and a bit pleased, that the gang leader didn't simply give up. The foolish man drew a pair of vibroblade daggers from behind his back and readied to fight with the beast. One of his comrades tossed him down a vibroaxe as well, which the gang leader picked up after hurling one of the daggers at the Hammer. The armored titan merely swatted the blade away, causing it to imbed itself in a nearby gang member's chest. The doomed Rodian let out a nasty groan before falling into the ring himself, dead.

"It killed Sparks!" Kaad yelled, trying to stir up some ire for their fallen comrade and incite a riot, but no one joined the cry. They were all too focused on the grim scenario before them.

At that moment, Kaad was attempting to utilize what he perceived as an advantage. He thought that the huge armor might be slowing down his opponent, so he was dashing around the behemoth while making quick slashes with his vibroaxe. One can only imagine the horror he felt when the weapon was caught by a steely hand and ripped from his grasp. The Hammer merely threw the weapon straight up which embedded the head in the ceiling. Kaad attempted to lash out quickly with his dagger in a lunge, and now the crowd understood his fate as the attack was caught. Kaad now found himself staring at the business-end of his own dagger, which was still in his hand, as the Hammer held onto his wrist and was pressing the blade closer and closer.

It was like watching art, beholding the combat style of the Hammer.

Of course, the artwork Yur’baal had been performing on his communicator superseded even that of the Hammer. Whilst the fight had been ongoing, numerous small criminal elements, disgruntled by their time under the heel of Kaads gang had been being manoeuvred by the Hutt to seize several key areas of the City.

’’Hold!’’ he shouted, srtoping the fight as Kaad reeled back from the Hammer. He moved forwards into the arena, and projected the City onto the wall. ’’You see, everything you hold dear, is being taken from you. The Cantina, the Docks. All of it.’’ he said to the man, chuckling to himself.

He turned away, his point made, not noticing as Kaad made a desperate lung at the Hutt…..

The heavily-armored gauntlet released the gang leader's wrist at the Hutt's discretion (as it was their show after all) and allowed him to take a few steps back. The little presentation that came after was rather unsurprising to the killer as was Kaad's response. What was a bit of a surprise was the amount of speed the man could still produce even now. It said something for his lifestyle that he had such endurance. Even then, it wasn't like he really posed a threat to anyone. The crowd reacted audibly to Kaad's charging lunge, but it was silenced when the Hammer suddenly just appeared at the man's side, swatting him like a fly in the process.

The man flew across the ring for a second before slamming into the pit wall. The improvised structure creaked loudly under the stress even after Kaad fell to the ground.

"You should never take your eyes off your opponent," the behemoth said with a completely flat tone.

Kaad couldn't really hear it, though. The terrible splitting headache combined with an awful dizziness that threatened to overwhelm him. Suddenly he couldn't quite remember how he'd gotten here. There was something about a mace or something. No, not a mace. A Hammer. The memories came flooding back through his minor concussion, causing the pain in his head to increase momentarily. The man managed to stand back up, trying his best to conserve what little dignity he had left. Then something marvelous happened. A blaster rifle fell from the heavens (aka a drunken fool watching the fight) and landed a foot in front of Kaad. The injured gang leader desperately scrambled for the weapon and brought it to bear. It was at this point that Kaad noticed that his opponent hadn't moved.

"And you should never let an opponent recover!" he yelled defiantly, his mouth breaking into the wide toothy smile of a madman.

"So this is what it comes down to! My people will never abandon me! We run things here, not you slugs or your supposed-myths," Kaad continued, "We will not be intimidated into servitude!"

Suddenly the Hammer moved. Its right arm hurled something at Kaad, who rather deftly blocked it with the VL-9 blaster carbine in his hands. The vibroblade dagger was buried in the side of the blaster rifle before Kaad jerked it out with a grin.

"You missed!" he yelled triumphantly, "but I'm not going to."

Kaad leveled the rifle at the armored figure, smiling as he did so. He pulled the trigger, ready to savor his victory, only to feel his heart sink as there was a resounding click. The gang leader looked down in horror at his weapon and saw that the safety-switch was now stuck in the on position due to the dagger's damage. He looked up to see the Hammer standing a foot from him, and it was then that he got a full appreciation for just how large his opponent was. Kaad was easily dwarfed by a foot, maybe more, and he'd considered himself a large man.

"Hhhhhow-" he stammered before a titanic backhand blow sent him scattering across the arena into another wall.

"Your time here has come to an end."

Once again the Hammer dived into action, swatting away its enemies weapon before felling a member of the audience. Yur'baal would never understand how it happened, it just did. As Kaad once again staggered back from the Hammer, Yur'baal - quite by chance - recieved the communication he had been hoping for from his Brother.

The Pipeline attack had begun.

He called a stop to the fight once more, and moved over toward Kaad, and showed him the datapad with the message from his Brother on it. ''Things really aren't going your way are they Kaad.'' he sniggered at the prone man, before punching him in the face, and moving off to one side.

''When the Cartel demands its payment, you will provide it!'' he bellowed at the Arena. ''Hammer, dispose of this man.'' he said finally, pointing at Kaad.

It was one final act of a desparate man. The stricken human turned to attack Yur'baal to get at least some modicum of revenge before he died. Suddenly Kaad tasted copper again as his mouth filled with blood as several pounds of metal slammed into his jaw. The crowd watched in silent horror as the damaged rifle Kaad had dropped bounced off of the gangleader's face.

Pain flooded all of his senses as Kaad fell to his knees. The vision in his left eye was blood red and blurry and the eyelid couldn't be opened more than halfway. Even worse, what little vision he had left was filled with seven meters of armored death.

"No...wait...please."

"Your decisions have led to this moment. This is the consequence."

Kaad put his hand up in defense but it was swept aside by the Hammer's metal gauntlet. The beast's fingers wrapped around the broken man's neck and lefted him up into the air in one move. The only thing that broke the silence was Kaad's spine snapping like dry wood.
