*The report of a recently unearthed artifact from the time of the ancient Jedi reached his desk, though he did not know why it wasn’t sent to the Secretary of Archaeological Affairs or someone who had anything to do with the subject matter. Dejerk Makmeh, formerly one of the Republic’s most promising archeologists but now nothing more than a crazy drunk who claimed to be a prophet, recently returned from a dig with an artifact which he believed would be of ‘great value’ to the Supreme Chancellor. Cos had yet to find out what exactly the artifact was, as Makmeh was being quiet about it. This had better be good, he thought, considering he still had a funeral to plan for his daughter who had been killed due to an error in judgment made by Bendu High Priest Ussej Padric Bac III. However, he felt that it was worth checking out. Before the recent Battle of Coruscant, he wouldn’t have given it a seconds thought. However, after all of the strange events that had been plaguing the galaxy recently he wanted to see the artifact. Perhaps it would prove to be quite valuable. He did find it odd, though, how he would have a fixation on this stone when his daughter had been killed less than forty eight hours ago, but there was something about the stones. It was almost as if they were searching for him....calling his name....*

*An officer walked in, followed by the current greatest archeologist in the Republic, Lionel Jorel. Cos stood to greet the man, respectfully shaking his hand. He offered the man a seat, he too sitting back down behind his desk. Jorel slid the artifact across the desk into the hands of the Supreme Chancellor. Cos studied it, trying to determine if any of the markings were at all familiar to him.*

“It’s a fascinating stone,” Jorel told him. “But, in the end, it’s still just a rock. I see no historical importance other than it making an interesting addition to a museum collection. That is....when you’re done with it, sir.”

*The Chancellor studied it more, his eyes turning to one particular marking. It was the same symbol that was found on the cloak of Ussej Padric Bac III; a family symbol, perhaps. He nodded as the officer snapped to attention, leading Jorel out of the office. Cos continued to study the artifact, the two similar symbols appearing side by side throughout it. He clapped his hands and his aide walked in. She stood there fore moments on end before the Chancellor finally looked to her.*

“Get High Priest Bac in here....now!”
