Jedi Artisanry

Among the oldest arts known to the Jedi Order is that of Jedi Artisanry. Once known also as Vur Tepe and Alchemy, Jedi Artisanry is a field of Force studies that revolve around various sciences, such as chemistry, metallurgy, geology, and technology. Originating from the ancient art of Force Alchemy from the Je'daii Order, the Force method of Vur Tepe, as the art was named after the academy, was the application of the Force into the physical universe, altering, augmenting or rewriting the natural composition or structure of living and non-living tissue alike. Through the event known as the Force Wars, the reborn Jedi Order which sprouted from it saw the worst effects of Vur Tepe in the manner of which the True Dark Sons of Tython utilized the art in manipulation of life to destructive ends. Since that time, the Jedi Order had since shunned any use of the Force that unnaturally disrupted the balance of life, and Force Alchemy used by the Jedi became restricted to inorganic pursuits. In time, this art eventually evolved into what then became known as Jedi Artisanry.

Since ancient times, Jedi Artisans have been known as the architects of the Jedi Order, using the Force as their guide in constructing truly wondrous works of art. Throughout their history, most of the greatest arts created by Jedi Artisans have been made manifest through the creation of grand and majestic lightsabers, many of which were kept and preserved by the Jedi Order. Not all Jedi Artisans forge lightsabers, however. Some Jedi Artisans have been known to create masterpieces of Force-imbued armors, katanas, holocrons, even Force-imbued jewelry or astonishingly sophisticated droids and other works of technology. Unlike its dark counterpart, Sith Alchemy, not all works of Jedi Artisanry are imbued with the Force, some Jedi Artisans mere allow the Force to guide them in the creation process. Jedi Artisans were known to be perfectionists; indeed, it was not at all uncommon for a Jedi Artisan to produce half a dozen or less creations that they considered to be truly master works in their careers. Because they were often powerful Force items, most of the greatest works of art created by Jedi Artisans are ultimately entrusted to the Jedi Archives. Because much Jedi Artisanry utilized Force augmentation, many Jedi Artisans were trained fully in the art of Force Weapon.

Famed Jedi Artisans have appeared in-throughout galactic history, such as the legendary Jedi Master, Vodo-Siosk Baas of the Great Sith War and Jedi Knight Felanil Baaks of the Clone Wars. However, most of the greatest Jedi Artisans never sought fame or prominence, and thus remained as unknowns in the Jedi Order. Ancient lightsabers created by nameless Jedi, yet still honored by the Order, include the Echo of the Savant, a silvery-viridian lightsaber with a hilt crafted from pure songsteel with exotic and extravagant Tythonian designs and runes upon it, and the Light of Ashla, a hilt made from the purest of glass yet made strong as iron through Force-imbuing, and sprouted a brilliant white blade. One of the most famed lightsabers was the Dawn of Destinies, also called the blade that ended the darkest century, which was originally a protosaber with a compressed ocean-blue blade, wielded by the Grand Master, Tarsana Zallael. Used during the Battle of Corbos, Grand Master Zalleal used the Dawn of Destinies to push back the Black Legions and defeat dozens of the leading Dark Jedi rebels, ultimately seeing the end of the Hundred-Year Darkness.

Although the works of the Jedi Artisans are fully practical, they are predominantly utilized in a ceremonial purposes, if utilized at all beyond respectful admiration. The Jedi Archives house many masterpieces by Jedi Artisans, and Jedi Artisanry continues to be a powerful, if rarely seen, Jedi skill that has produces wonders of creation.
