  • Arthur began his life on Alderaan, which was conveniently the planet he he would end ups spending the majority of his life on. His parents were devout Imperial patriots, though that sentiment wasn't exactly echoed by his parents peers.

This attitude rubbed off on Arthur as he grew up, and much like many of his friends and peers, he dreamed of joining the glorious Imperial military. Such was not to be however, as it was discovered Arthur had a heart defect that was potentially life threatening if he was put under battlefield conditions. This didn't however, prevent him from pursuing an alternate career in Imperial Intelligence.

While he couldn't act as an agent as he might have wanted, he was still able to assist in operations from behind the scenes. He spent three years as an Interrogator, before eventually being moved to Internal affairs once his investigative personality and aptitude for information gathering was noticed by his higher ups.

He ended up being a proficient 'morale' officer, weeding out defectors within Imperial Intelligence, and his name was often brought up when agents were under investigation in other branches. While much of the heavy lifting was required to be left to other more physically able agents and soldiers, Arthur still managed to maintain an aura of fear despite being a largely non-physical or confrontational person. He was dangerous, because he could talk even the most proficient agents into a corner that they couldn't get out of.

This all changed when the United Protectorate was formed. While he initially had nothing but disdain for the organization, he soon found that it was a place he could increase his personal standing and allow him to influence matters on the galactic stage as opposed to his previous small scale operations within Imperial Intelligence.

After several years working off world, Arthur returned to his home planet of Alderaan and immediately set about gathering support for his bid to become the senator of Alderaan. He was initially met with little success, seeing as his personal ideals didn't particularly align with the planetary norm. However through numerous favors, careful blackmail, slander and the occasional assassination, Arthur had succeeded in the great Alderaanian political game and managed to secure his position as a senator.
  • Arthur Smoke is a generally charming handsome man when he wants to be. However several years working effectively as an Internal affairs agent for Imperial Intelligence has left him paranoid of everyone and everything. He is on edge most of the time, though he rarely ever lets that mannerism show in his day to day life. But of you knew what to look for, you could see how his eyes study everyone, and his body is always slightly tense.

He has a mild sadistic streak. He enjoys seeing people caught out in lies, or hurt when they make mistakes. He is the kind of man to point out every flaw in your argument just to get you angry so he can paint you as an uncooperative hothead not fit for the conversation. Because of this he has few friends outside of those he made in Internal Affairs, but he otherwise doesn't particularly care about that. Everyone is just a means to an end for him.
  • Arthur's main strengths lay in his ability to talk to people. While he may not be any better at the actual art of conversation than anyone else, he makes up for this by bullying and forcing his ideas and ideals onto other people. He does his best to take up as much time talking during interviews, not allowing anyone else to speak in order to get his message across.

He spent several years as an Internal Affairs agent, and prior to that as an Interrogator for Imperial Intelligence. These experiences have allowed him to gain a deep understanding of how people work, which he exploits with the glee of any sociopath.

He might have wished in his younger years to be a soldier, but because of an incurable heart defect, he can't handle too many bursts of extreme stress, lest he risk heart failure. He does his best to remain physically fit, but this has also begun to affect his health in other ways as well.

  • Grandson of Robert Abottangelo, though the two have rarely met. Keeps some relation to his extended family because of his grandfather.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Ossus in the Outer Rim? So it wouldn't be part of the United Protectorate...

That is correct, Ossus is deep in Sith territory.

I was unaware there was a distinction. So the planet would have to be coreward in order to be part of the part of the protectorate? Or are there any restrictions to representing planets outside the defined territories? It was just never defined if I could or could not represent Ossus, nor were the borders of the protectorate clearly defined (In my eyes) so thats where my confusion comes from.

I can change if needed.

There is a map in the writeup, that's your guide for what's in this and what isn't. The sith and Mando factions still have their territories, it's just these meow core-ish world's that have a new government.

Alright, I'll change it soonish. Am I restricted to planets within Imperial districts or can I be the big boy of Hapes and go against any and all social norms?

That is actually something I'm not entirely sure about. I think Hapes was a Mando world, but I don't think there's any restrictions about affiliation. Though, Hapes is super matriarchal and most probably wouldn't have a male senator.

I've changed it to hapes, though I understand if another planet is necessary for a change.

Consort for the queen mother will be a no unfortunately, that's too high profile a position for a level 1 to start with. I'd suggest picking a different planet, and preferably having him be from the planet.

Honestly, this looks like a character that would work much better if you tried to RP the election process and attempt to win the seat. The character has no political background, and Alderaan would have way more suitable candidates for the job than a internal affairs officer in imperial intelligence.

Thats kind of the point, he isn't a good choice. He lied and killed his way into the position even if he did all of that by proxy. His whole drive is personal power, but he is allegedly charming enough to convince people to give up their deepest secrets as an Internal affairs agent, so he would have some kind of charisma when running as a politician and be able to hide his glaring unforgivable flaws behind veneers of general thuggery and bullying. He's the worst kind of politician that could be produced, which I think makes sense considering how new the Protectorate is, and the confusion that would come with the creation of a new government that would have to deal with hundreds of worlds and compromise with them all.

Though I am more than willing to do a character plot to get him to senator if that’s what’s required

It's not required, was just suggesting that given the background of the character he seemed well suited to RPing out the election instead of just skipping it in the bio. That wasn't really part of the review, there were many characters in the line before him and I had only jumped in to clarify on the planets.

Approved!
