Unlike most, Arthemise had been given a kind start in life. She was born on Coruscant and was a child of the Republic, raised in politics and with a deep love for her family. Her mother worked closely with the Senate as a diplomat and instilled in her the importance of logic over emotion. Her father, though he had passed before she was born, still had many lessons to teach her through the stories she was told of him during his time as a soldier for the Grand Army: determination, discipline and dedication. Though she may have been too young to know it at the time, these lessons would all be important to her later...

The life of a diplomats daughter was never quiet or dull. The two of them spent much of their time away from Coruscant and by the time she was 9, Arthemise had already seen much of the Galaxy. She had also learned of the war and witnessed first hand the devastating consequences it had brought for many civilizations. Most of the people she met were still working to rebuild their homes and their lives, even years after the war had ended. There seemed to be a growing distrust of force-users within the Republic, and the Jedi who had started it all were no longer regarded as defenders of peace. These stories, to a young child, made the galaxy seem dark, dangerous and depressive but also taught her to appreciate where she was in that moment. Her mother had worked hard to keep her safe and she knew she would always have a home back on Coruscant.

It was on a trip home, to broker the terms of an upcoming assignment, that her life would change forever. Despite the position that the Jedi had found themselves in, a member of the Order approached her mother with the information that Arthemise was sensitive to the Force. The Jedi requested that she released her into his care, to keep her safe and to provide her with the opportunity to learn and to grow. He reminded her mother of the fear that persisted within the Republic, but it hadn't been enough to sway her decision. Her mother believed that she would be able to keep Arthemise safe and that the Jedi would only subject her to war, but she was wrong. There had been bounties placed on force-users and she wouldn't be able to hide her forever. Arthemise was 15 when they found her.

It was late in the afternoon and Arthemise had been left in the company of an old RA-7 protocol droid who frequently traveled with them. They had come to Corellia on political business a few weeks prior, but she would leave alone and as a captive. They had been in the city long enough that Arthemise was running out of things to keep herself occupied. It was preferred, due to her circumstances, that she remain indoors, but instead, she had decided to take a handful of credits down to a local vendor for some food unaware of the danger that would follow her.

Despite the protection that the Republic offered them, a small band of thugs had managed to track them down. It was unknown how they had managed to discover that Arthemise was force-sensitive or how they had known she would be alone, but they were determined to collect their bounty with the Hutts, however small it may be. They had her surrounded in a small alley outside of the spaceport, on her return to the Republic ship where they stayed, and she was powerless to avoid them.

Leaving the RA-7 droid behind, they forced her aboard their own ship and set course for Nar Shaddaa. In the moment she feared them, but it wouldn't take Arthemise long to realize that they were nothing more than wannabe bounty hunters; they were worse at keeping secrets than she was, and she was only 15. She knew of their intentions to sell her to the Hutts but assumed the Cartel would surely be more interested in her relationship with the Republic. She was far more valuable than they realized but much better at keeping her lips sealed.

As it turned out, Arthemise was great at playing the victim and was careful during their trip to ensure that these thugs didn't figure her out. By the time they arrived on Nar Shaddaa, she had earned enough of their trust that none of them expected her to try and escape.

It was easy enough for her to slip out of the cuffs that had been placed on her wrists as they were much too large for a young woman. She had been left in her cell alone long enough that she was even able to hide them under her mattress and, when they came to remove her, no one seemed to notice. She kept her hands behind her back, long sleeves concealing her freedom. The moment her feet hit the ramp, Arthemise ran like her life depended upon it (because it did). Blaster fire echoed through the landing bay and the sound of hurried footsteps followed her, but still, she didn't stop. She may have been small, but these thugs weren't smart enough to keep up with her.

Arthemise sustained some minor injuries but had escaped with her freedom for the moment. Now alone on Nar Shaddaa, she spent some time learning to steal and to lie in order to survive. She was determined to find her way home to Coruscant and to her mother but had learned over years to appreciate where she was at and thanked the Force that it wasn't in the hands of the Cartel. She could survive on her own for now.

Determined, passionate and perhaps a tad sarcastic, these words define Arthemise to a 'T'. She has no problem making herself heard and can often come off as stubborn or rude, but don't be fooled, she is wise beyond her years. Regardless of having been raised as a diplomat, its never been a secret that Arthemise herself wasn't really cut out for the job. She is familiar with the ins and outs of negotiation but has a tendancy to stick too firmly to her desires, making it difficult to agree on a resolution. She doesn't like to let her feelings get in the way and is typically willing to weigh logic over emotion, but in moments of fear or frustration she can often stray from the political path. She likes to have things her way and has difficulty in following directions or reaching agreements, making her hard to work with at times.

Despite some of her more prominent flaws, those who are patient enough to earn her trust may just find that she's truly a genuine young lady. She values knowledge and, with some work, could refine her basic skills to become a leader. She is loyal and kind and, though she may not always agree, likes to try and see things from all perspectives before passing judgment. She enjoys the company of others and is energetic, having missed the opportunity to be a normal child. You can almost always find her getting into some kind of trouble, but when it comes down to it she can accomplish just about any task that she sets her mind too.
