Arak is the middle child of his father's seven children. Also to make his standing in the succession worse he was the youngest of the children from his father's first wife. His older siblings were all raised to be the future leaders of the family, while his younger siblings were all taught to be proper consorts for political marriages. Being in the middle exactly he was raised both as a potential ruler and consort.
Growing up he didn't particularly stand out from his siblings in anything. Some were better fighters while others surpassed him in force usage. Where he had a knack above his siblings was the families specialty of force manipulation, but it largely flew under the radar. He went through the standard coming of age ceremonies of his family and placed middle of the pack.
His father was outraged and sent him to the Order to perhaps get molded into someone worthy of the Ragnos name

Arak is extremely selfish. He would very much cut off someone's leg and leave them behind as a fall person. He views non-Purebloods and lesser Purebloods as tools to twist to his machinations.
