It was the first time Naevah had ever left Dathomir, and she marveled at the sights Kashyyyk had to offer. The red veil that ordinarily tainted her vision had been lifted; she had never seen such vibrant colors. Trees were clothed in the greens of every palate, the verdant hues of nature's free dreams. Serenity flowed through the forest as cool river waters.
Upon the forest floor lay molding trees, fallen in storms long forgotten. The seasons had been harsh, stripping away the bark and outer layers, yet rendering them all the more beautiful. They had the appearance of driftwood, twisting in patterns, the colour of the moss kelp-like. They were soft, damp, yet Naevah's fingers came away dry.
Prickly needles of a tall conifer tree and little odorous cones bore the sharp fragrance of the woodlands, the atmosphere coming alive with a fresh, stark, pungent stink that reminded Neavah unmistakably of winter on her homeworld. Birdsong came in lulls and bursts, the silence and the singing working together as well as any improvised melody. The leaves danced to the beat of the whispered songs to the wind. In here, sheltered by the mighty trees, is every kind of life, from the humble beetle to enchanting birds of every colour.
Naevah had carefully averted the city of Rowrakruk, preferring the quiet of the dark forest located between the mountain and the Wookies' habitations. She was to observe only and not mingle with the various aliens that had gathered to observe Life Day, a celebration that coincided with the sabbath.
Using her considerable skills to avoid detection however, she had gathered that the chieftain was troubled by the presence of Krykna. Although that particular species of spiders did not live on Dathomir, Naevah had seen her fair chair of arachnids. The little bugs were indeed quite useful to witches.
The leader had seemed not to share her reverence of the little creature, instead offering a reward for their extermination. While that did not appeal much to the young Nightsister, the prospect of examining a new species and discovering its uses in magicks was irresistible.
And so, she waited at the edge of the Black Forest for a warrior brave enough to solve the chieftain's puny spider problem. Hoping that they would lead her directly to their breeding ground.
