Derro'an'nuruodo took few pleasures in life, however, even the pleasures of which he partook never overstepped his training. Songs stuck in his head, for instance, were one of the main pleasures that Roann allowed to cross his mind and dwell there. Even then, however, they existed as a layer of thought that covered his 'deeper' thoughts, feelings and plans. Thinking or feeling something strongly to cover deeper thoughts and emotions was a common Jedi confusion tactic, at least in the time when Jedi were not so paranoid as to attempt to delve deep into the mind of every being they encountered. Now, however, Jedi were far more paranoid, and such a tactic was better practiced in fighting the Sith.

Before the former Tactical Commander stood ten Chiss, one of which was a close companion by the name of Esc'or'nuruodo, and a few assorted other Hutt personnel who were ready and in eager anticipation of what he would soon inform them of. Specifically, anti-jedi and anti-sith fighting tactics. In another time, such tactics would not be needed, but in today's day and age being able to take down a Jedi or Sith one on one was near necessary. As such, he began.

"Jedi and Sith are formidable opponents, ones whom I doubt any of you have ever faced or even encountered. However, as most of you will recall, I served as your Tactical Commander and your Director of Special Operations at CAIN. I encountered Jedi, I fought Jedi, I even killed them on rare occasions. I trained Immortals, fought immortals, and on certain occasion, ordered their executions at my hands. Jedi and Sith are not gods, they are mortals who are just as capable of dying as you or me. They are like to believe that their connection to the Force makes them special, makes them more powerful than us, they are wrong. We are Chiss, our intelligence is unsurpassed in this galaxy, you will do well to remember that.

There are many obvious tactics to defeating Jedi and Sith, flank them, outmaneuver them, outnumber them, force them to fight in ranged battle, select grenades, sonic based weaponry, cluster rockets, plasma charges, our unique maser weapons and mines if you are able to place them effectively. Tactics against the Jedi in one on one situation are fairly straight forward and simple to use, target their allies, random civilians if you must, as they will throw themselves in harms way to protect their allies. Jedi are arrogant, simple minded, and easy prey.

Sith are different. Selfish, always well equipped with combat abilities, and have no regard to collateral damage. However, you have a few advantages over them nonetheless. Spend three days in a Vorskyr infested Myrkr jungle and you will realize exceedingly quickly how great an advantage you hold by not carrying Force Sensitivity in your blood. You can make yourself hard to attack mentally by projecting strong thoughts or emotions that disrupt a Sith's ability to affect your mind.

If a Sith pushes you with the Force, jump back and with the push, allow the wave to throw you high enough into the air that you can twist your body to land with ease. In this regard, the weak push of an Acolyte is more dangerous than that of a Sith Lord, as the Sith Lord's push is comparable to a wave that may be easily ridden, whereas an Acolyte's is like to a hammer. Wear armor, always wear armor with energy resistance if you can help it. Stay out of range of their lightsaber, Sith especially rely on those silly swords like an addict on deathsticks, they won't put them down.

Sonic weapons easily disrupt Sith focus and cannot be stopped by conventional methods and Masers are unable to be blocked by our Sith enemies, so take both if you can. But if you have to make a choice between a Sonic or Maser, take the Maser. Our Maser pistols, while severely lacking in range, are deadly once the Sith move close enough. Within eight meters it is fairly easy to shoot them almost point blank. If they attempt to block it, the kinetic force of the Maser will knock their lightsaber from their grip and put them enough in shock to give you a chance to fire off a second shot and kill them.

Rocket boots, jet packs, missiles an exceedingly large amount of laser fire and fast acting poison darts are also easy ways to eliminate Sith. I was once able to observe a fight between a Sith Crusader and a Bounty Hunter who nearly killed him by simply utilizing rocket boosters to stay out of his range and fire missiles and traditional lasers down upon the Sith. If you have neither masers nor sonic weapons, carry two blaster pistols. Firing more lasers than a Sith can block will easily take out a less experienced Sith and exhaust the more experienced.

Finally, there is the last resort which you must always be prepared for, close quarters combat. If a Sith closes in on you and you are unable to get out of lightsaber range, you must be prepared to fight them. The key here is to fight dirty and fight on your terms. Do not engage a Sith or Jedi with a sword of your own, you will always lose. A Sith trains decades with their lightsaber alone. I recommend utilizing knives and hand to hand combat, get their lightsaber out of their hand or cut their wrists with your knives, carry at least two phrik blades at all times if you can afford them. Dodge their lightsaber, block it as little as possible, and try to outmaneuver them. You can't move faster than most, but you can expend your movements more efficiently. Often the Sith sacrifices efficiency for speed.

As an ending note, if a Sith charges you, shoot him. Three shots in quick succession and varying position at a Sith in a head on charge will be impossible to block all of, this is a tactic that will always either wound or kill your opponent, remember it. Before I begin a demonstration on knife combat, are there any questions?"

At that, the monologue finished and Roann prepared to answer any inquisitive questions the beings before him, Chiss or lesser, might have.

Dag Corrino

Dag glanced about towards the other Cartel members that were positioned in the room-pausing as he made his eye contact with the numerous Chiss that also occupied the space with him. The Ubese placed his hand on his hip where a lightsaber clung to his belt-a proud trophy of a small time Jedi. He couldn't help, but grin when one of the Chiss began to speak up about tactics on defeating force users-Dag disliked Sith, but he held a deep hatred for the Jedi. He titled his head as the man began to note a wide array of different tactics that could catch a Sith or any force user off guard, Brilliant just brilliant-this man has to be a genius, he thought to himself as the Chiss had begun to finish up his speech.

When the Chiss asked if anyone had a few questions Dag took a step forward-quickly speaking Huttese through his helmet, "I carry a knife myself, but I have just one question. What are your thoughts of using poison in close quarters," Dag swept up his cloak that clung to his chest, pushing it behind his back-revealing a bandolier strapped across his chest carry an odd assortment of poison vials.

Focusing had never been one of Vagrant’s strongest skills. However, she forced herself to pay attention as the Chiss spoke to the assembled group. At first, her mind wandered. It always did. But she quickly realized that everything being said was going to come in useful. There wasn’t a single piece of information she wouldn’t be able to utilize at some point. After that, focusing on Roann’s words became easier. Vagrant tuned in closely to everything he said.

Her mind committed the key points of his speech to memory. Rely on a Jedi’s willingness to sacrifice themselves for others. And for Sith, get on their level and fight dirty. Vagrant could do that. She committed as many things to memory as she could from Roann’s speech. Jump back with Force pushes. Stay out of range of lightsabres. Target wrists and disarm them.

She also made a mental note to go shopping as soon as possible. The day she’d stepped up to join the cartel, she knew her faithful brass knuckles, even now resting comfortably on her fingers, would only carry her so far. At some point, she was going to need the weapons Roann had mentioned. Maser pistols, blasters, phrik-blades, and energy-resistant armour. If she ever found herself in a position where she’d need them, she better have them. Lest she end up as a bloodstain on the ground.

She looked over to Dag as he spoke his question, and gave a small laugh as he revealed the collection of poison vials. Someone came prepared. She racked her brain for a noteworthy question, and a comment the Chiss had made early in his speech jumped to mind. Spend three days in a Vorskyr infested Myrkr jungle and you will realize exceedingly quickly how great an advantage you hold by not carrying Force Sensitivity in your blood. It would be all very well for her to learn how to fight without using the Force, as she knew she wasn’t on the level of a trained Sith or Jedi. But if she had an ability in her arsenal, Vagrant had every intention of using it. She cleared her throat and spoke her question. “Ya talked ‘bout it being an advantage to not be Force sensitive,” she said. “But how ‘bout if I am? It’d level the playing field some, right? There’s gotta be ways I can use that against a Sith or Jedi, yeah?”

Yirim was sleepy. The man speaking was intelligent, a genius no doubt, but then so was the strange Echani crouching in his seat and biting his thumbnail. The major difference between these two mental giants and an advantage for Yirim was the fact that everyone expected the Chiss to be brilliant; an unparalleled tactician. Everyone knew he was dangerous and intelligent, no one ever suspected the pale figure among the front row. No one even wanted to seat near him after a few well timed coughs. As the speaker finished, the man glanced around awaiting questions for which he wouldn't be waiting for long.

It seems many of the Cartel's newest members who had attended this seminar were enthralled. Why shouldn't they be? These were Cartel thugs after all, not tacticians or strategists. While they were smart enough to attend this, that hardly made them mental giants. Most of this was common sense, at least to Yirim, and he had thought of all of these types of tactics previously himself. But he knew how this man though because he often did. He couldn't blame them for not being as intelligent as he or the Chiss tactician he supposed.

He simply listened as an Ubese bounty hunter commented on the close quarters section of the speech and inquired on how effective poisons were in that type of situation. Even going so far as to dramatically sweep aside his cloak and reveal a bandolier with several pouches of toxins. Before the speaker could answer a woman, who held the appearance of a underground fighter, asked if her Force Sensitivity might give her an edge in a fight with a Sith or Jedi. He tilted his head as he thought to himself that it could, but it could also prove to be a liability especially if one had no control. He would speak of course, perhaps even in private with the tactician, but for now he was content to watch and listen.
