Life day was the best escape from life inside of a Rebel cell. Mig found that he enjoyed Manaan and all the crazy adventures, but this was certainly less stressful. Kashyyyk was a planet he had never visited before this year and when the opportunity to go came up, he rushed to volunteer himself. The Gotal Engineer would do all he could to experience Life Day for everything it had to offer. He was no combatant but he figured he could avoid the hunts and violence to enjoy the other pieces of the holiday.

"Hello friends!" He cheerfully greeted everyone he came to in the tree top village. "Happy Life Day!"

Mig's robotic tone and innocence got a few odd looks, but he was mostly left alone. The Gotal was about to make a silly mistake though. His eagerness to participate and naive nature made a pretty volatile combination. Ceremonial Duels were open to outsiders and it was often fun to watch. Many stepped up and few could handle a Wookiee without weapons. One fight ended and Mig was too busy cheering to hear them ask for challenges.

"Yes! I love it!" He shouted at the match as it ended, also unwittingly volunteering himself to be the next challenger.

A few glances of confusion came next but then roars of amusement echoed through the city. Someone behind Mig shoved him into the circle and a large Wookiee entered on the other side. It was probably small for a Wookiee but still huge compared to the Gotal who found himself opposite of him. Everyone began cheering and some even cheered for Mig. Most, however, cheered for the Wookiee to rip the Gotal apart. That wasn't very Life Day of them!

"Oh! I believe there has been a mistake!" No one heard Mig over the cheering and the match was to begin.

The wookie looked down at the Gotal. It gave a small grunt, apparently impressed at the bravery of Mig and roared out a challenge. Yet the being seemed entirely too cheerful for the event. It put the tower of fur on edge. He was used to his opponents being afraid, or at least those more skilled than him facing him with confidence or cockiness. A goat man who was viewing the thing as entirely too cheerful seemed dangerous. Yet the being tried back tracking as it realized that the wookie was walking toward it with the intent to beat it down. Well it was too late now, once the challenge had been issued you could not escape it until defeat.

The wookie gave the Gotal one more look to make sure it didn't have a trick up its sleeve and then charge forward, roaring as it did so. As it closed the distance it would attempt to swipe at the beings head with its paw to try and knock it on its side.

The fight was happening and Mig had no way to back out now. His opponent charged and went for an early hit that would surely take the Gotal down easily enough. Mig tried to calculate his odds as he dove to the dirt on the right side, hoping to avoid the charge and swipe by being super far away. As he fell he would kick his legs out in desperation hoping to trip the beast up. The Engineer clawed his way forward whether or not the trip worked and would try to get back to his feet quickly.

"Not my head!" He pleaded as he attempted to create some distance.

Mig, an engineer long before a brawler, decided that his main chance of winning was to use the Wookiee's strength against itself. Tripping, redirecting, and maybe some key swipes would be his only hope. That and staying away from devastating swings that could give Mig a nice Life Day nap.

The Gotal was definitely quick enough to dive out of the way. He wasn't expecting the goat like creature to be so quick and was tripped up by its legs. With a booming roar, the wookie crashed to the ground, giving Mig enough time to scrabble to his feet. The wookie brawler snarled in anger as he too began to get up.

Halfway through however the wookie hunched over and charged right for the Gotal again in an attempt to tackle the being. Were it to work, the fighter would attempt to pick him up, and then slam him into the ground to either knock him out or daze him enough to finish the fight. The wookie had decided he didn't like the look of this unassuming alien and expected some sort of trick. It would put a quick end to the fight before it could fool him.

Mig had hardly recovered when it seemed the Wookiee decided to charge again but this time from down low. This was not a game the Gotal could keep playing and expect to win. Out lasting the enemy would be impossible, but he could be smart about it. Normally a Wookiee towered over Mig and was an impossible beast to even damage. Tripping the opponent had lowered the next charge to his level. This would be something he could use. Physics taught the Engineer that every action had an equal and opposite reaction. While the Wookiee's charge would be too powerful for Mig to totally negate, he could abuse it using science. If he could focus all of the impact to a single area, it would hurt them both but perhaps a blow to the head was better than one to the elbow.

"Oh no!" He squealed in a cheesy, scared tone as he struck his elbow out as fast and hard as he could towards the incoming Wookiee face.

A full impact would send Mig tumbling backwards with a sore elbow, but that impact combined with the Wookiee's charge might be enough to seriously knock on his enemy's skull. Mig had no desire to truly harm his potential future friend but he had to avoid grievous injury for himself. Fighting was tradition after all so logically they would not be offended. The Gotal could only hope it was enough to prevent the Wookiee from slamming his weak body into the dirt for a painful end.

The wookie didn't hesitate, buying in completely to the squealing brought on by the Gotal. The wookie kept running until it slammed full force into the elbow. It didn't quite understand how hard it would hit until it actually happened. Mig would go sprawling back from the hit, but initial goal of a tackle wasn't accomplished, sparing the engineer from the wrestling moves the Wookie wanted to put on him.

The wookie stumbled to the side, clutching its nose and howling in anger. Dark blood could be seen dripping from between it's fingers. It flicked the blood away, putting its hands at its side and tightening it's paws into fists. It growled lowly and started to lumber towards Mig. When it got close, it would attempt to just pummel him, punching up into the Gotal's stomach to knock the breath out of it.

Math and science did not tell Mig that it hurt so bad to get hit. He was not a warrior who enjoyed these things. The Gotal Engineer was in this to survive and make a new friend. Both of these seemed very difficult based on his current situation. His move was effective but it did not end the fight. All it really seemed to do was anger his opponent. Mig hoped deep down that maybe it would bring him some honor to score a hit. Maybe the Wookiees would appreciate him for it. He had to survive the fight first.

A lumbering Wookiee was intimidating, but Mig couldn't just leave the circle. He had to see the fight to the end. His first instinct was to back away and try to create more distance but that would solve nothing in a circle like this. The scientific brain began firing up ideas once more as he was quickly running out of time to analyze the situation. Mig figured the Wookiee had to have felt that last blow and maybe another good hit could end it... but how?

"Maybe we can talk about this instead?" Mig sputtered nervously as he backed away a bit.

When the enemy got within pummeling range, the Gotal braced for damage as he dove forwards. He hoped to get between the massive being's legs. If he managed that much without being smashed, he would strike out with both feet against the Wookiee's right knee from the back. Hopefully it could hurt the creature enough to bring the head to Mig's level. Then he would... he would... think of something else.

The wookie's massive paw swept through empty air, confusing the wookie for a moment. It growled, wondering where the being could've gone, looking left and right, until it noticed the faint presence that had slid between the furs on its leg. Almost comically, the wookie bent over, looking between it's own legs.

Just in time to get a view of Mig kicking out full force into the back of it's right knee. The wookie fell to that knee, howling and somewhat confused as to how it had fallen so easily to at the perfect head height. The wookie twisted around, attempting to stand up but fell back to a knee again, succeeding in only managing to turn to face the Gotal.

The wookie swung it's club like fists from side to side, attempting to buy it some distance but even to an amateur it would have been easy to dodge it's swipes. The brawler was tired and had underestimated it's enemy and now the consequences were about to manifest.

Mig thanked the stars that he had spent more time learning about anatomy, physics, math, and other school topics rather than having friends. This was a rather strange use of his knowledge but it was thrilling. The Gotal Engineer hardly ever experienced first hand grit like this. He might get into more fights after this if it kept going well. The Rebel Cells would know him as Mig the Brawler! He was confident now that the Wookiee had fallen to one knee.

"I did it!" He cheered as he almost got smashed by a swinging fist, just barely ducking away in time.

The tired Wookiee was wide open between those lumbering, inaccurate swings. Now was Mig's chance to possibly even win this fight. Survival was the goal, but victory would be quite the thrill as well. There was no more power left to abuse so he would have to use whatever feeble powers he had of his own. The Gotal Engineer waited for an opening and plunged all his force into a punch towards the hairy creature's face. It would be nowhere near fatal, but that was of course not the goal. Mig only needed it to be strong enough to knock the Wookiee over and end the fight.

For a moment, the wookie stood there, somewhat stunned. It slowly teetered to the left, then the right. The wookie then let out a low groan and fell to it's side. It wasn't knocked out, as the brawler wasn't nearly so weak, and he rolled onto his back. It rotated it's jaw a little, making sure everything worked right.

The crowd was silent for a moment at the sight of the Gotal defeating such a strong wookie warrior. Slowly, the wookie got back up onto both feet and looked down at Mig. It's lips curled upward, baring rows of sharp teeth, before it enveloped the Gotal in a tight hug, roaring in apparent satisfaction at the outcome of the fight.

The other wookies seemed happy with the fight and they too cheered on Mig for his craftiness. They respected his courage for so willingly joining in the fight and being able to defeat the wookie brawler. It seemed that Mig had made quite a few friends now after participating in their Lifeday celebrations.

Roars filled Mig's ears as he stood there stunned at his victory. He had accidentally volunteered, scrambled to survive, and somehow used his nerd powers to win. This was quite the story to tell his friends back home. These Wookiees could become friends too! The Gotal Engineer was content to get away with just that when his new friends came over with a large device. Mig was confused until he realized it was one of their ceremonial Bowcasters. That was a huge honor and Mig began to cry a little.

"Is this... this for me?"
He asked them with surprise in his voice.

The weapon was super heavy and Mig had to work to get it situated into his hands. This was something he never expected to have in his lifetime. It was a serious device and could pack a punch in the coming war he had to fight. Maybe this was just what Mig needed. He strapped it to his back and awkwardly waddled away from the duel circle before he had to fight again. Now he could party and tell some neat stories.
