Overview
A young Twi'lek from Ryloth, Aliyah spent many of her former years as a slave. She was rescued by a member of the Jedi Order, thanks to her kindled force sensitivity and taken to the nearest temple. Since then, she has devoted herself to aiding those who had similar lots in life. Once, she was the apprentice to the Phoenix of Vahla, Venatus. She's since become his adoptive daughter, and gone on to become a fully fledged member of the Order. Since his demise, she has taken up his mantle, name and title as the Phoenix, working to complete what her father started.

Biography

I don't remember much more than a few friendly faces, a stone-cold bed and a pitiful amount of food. I learned to speak and write, so as to be used for copying or forging documentation. Menial chores and labor were common for us, as well as strange and unusual tasks most likely designed simply to emotionally and mentally torture us.

Even then, however, I was one of the lucky ones. As a child, I was never chosen for some of the darker tasks the slavemasters desired. As I grew older, however, that began to change, used in turn as a dancer for spare credits. It was a humbling life, being raised from nothing. I've never found out what happened to my parents. I was told they left me, but I don't believe it.

One day, everything just seemed to change. It was the same routine, as always. Wake up to work, by evening I was to be ready to dance. But something felt wrong, I felt a deep and profound anger rising inside me. It wasn't until the familiar catcalls rained from patrons mouths that I truly lost control...

I don't know how I made the room tremble. I don't know how I tore aside a metal table and hurled it into a wall. But I do know that my actions stemmed from a hungering fire deep within. If it wasn't for a Jedi, who sensed my distress and bought me from my owners, I had little doubt I'd have been killed or worse. I wanted to go back for the rest of them, but I was told there was nothing to be done. One Jedi, no matter how powerful, could not dismantle the entire slave ring overnight.

That Jedi took me to a strange world, filled with lush forests and massive temples. There he introduced me to the ways of his Order. Mighty warriors of a mystical energy known as the Force. He and his peers were a marvelous sight, and I knew from that moment on this home was a place for me. I took to studying all that I could, training in all aspects of the Jedi Religion, as much as they could teach me. But my training has only just begun.

One Jedi cannot topple a slave ring overnight. But given a year or two, I'll most certainly start making dents. I got a little carried away in my efforts and found myself surrounded on all sides trying to free my old friends. As fate would have it, my soon to be mentor was there for the same reason I was, and together - back to back - we fought our way to freedom.

I spent a few years travelling the Galaxy with Venatus, helping him recover his memories and deal with the severe trauma that his losses had caused him. We took apart many slaving operations, mostly by ourselves but occasionally we had the help of another Jedi, or innocents caught up in the way. It wasn't until Jedha, where we finally convinced him to join the Order, that we parted ways as master and pupil.

And became father and daughter. Since then, I've been working closely with Venatus to help the Jedi Order grow into what it needs to be, in an effort to push back the Sith Empire however I can. But now? I don't really know what I can do. Venatus is gone, my brother is gone... some of the people I was closest to are just gone.

Dead.

I can't stop. This war needs to be won... for them.

Personality

"My Father's legacy is gone... The fate of his people rest on my shoulders... Yet I can't stop...

With me are souls from all over the Galaxy brave and proud, ready to face the impending doom. Many of us will fall... Yet our deeds will not go unnoticed...

For heroes never die."

Upbeat and positive is one of many ways to describe Aliyah.
The girl is surprisingly aloof when you take into account her upbringing, but seeing as positive thoughts have kept her alive, she deems them necessary. She is kind, often too kind to those who are undeserving. She would rather talk it out then allow problems to fester, preferring to deal with issues immediately. Tactful for the most part, she is known to get very snappy when overly frustrated. She does not usually cause outbursts, whoever, preferring to mutter her insults beneath her breath. Over the years, this has toned down quite a bit, but extremely stressful or traumatic experiences can bring her passionate side out and make her seem all over the place.

She is quick to make friends and assume the best in people, something that has its benefits. Many people view her honesty to be a welcome trait, her positive yet grounded mindset an advantage. She is often the one to congratulate those around her, even while providing feedback. She often finds herself in positions of natural leadership due to her trustworthiness. She may be aloof, but when performing she sets her mind she becomes structured and able. She often takes command of a situation by use of compliments and recommendations, to avoid any negativity. Unity in all things, to her, is vital, and would rather surrender authority to another than cause an issue. Since her father's passing, she's grown distant, but still tries to keep a warm presence.

She is also quite crafty and persuasive. Times as a dancer served her well in this regard, as she can be charming. But her nights sneaking food where much more useful, using her gifts to subtly move objects and distract the patrons. Losing the ones she cared about actually made her persuasiveness stronger, drawing on her natural empathy to help people feel and understand what she was trying to say. She used to be okay with lying to her enemies, but she's since changed her steps. She needed to be better, so, Aliyah now chooses to be mostly honest even with enemies. Though naturally forgiving, she will not hesitate to use anything and everything to her advantage. This includes her looks, her weapons, and anything not maglocked to the ground. She won't kill though, unless you don't give her a choice, luckily that hasn't happened yet.

Powers and Abilities
  • The Force
Aliyah has developed a respectable amount of skill in the basics of the Force. She has begun comprehensive training in the art of telekinesis, able to lift heavy objects with grace. Her Force Skills are otherwise centered around herself, from gentle bursts of speed to kinetic bursts of energy.

Having completed her training beneath Venatus, and being named his successor, her skills with Telepyrosis are second to few. Having traveled with him for some time, she has learned to produce gouts of flames and can even manipulate large quantities of fire. Her knowledge also lends itself to Tutaminis.

Her brief tap into the well of the Dark Side instilled a healthy fear of its hunger. She thought on what drew her rage, seeking guidance from those around her. Finding inner peace would be a lifelong challenge, but she has endured. Her Empathy, which is passively boosted through the Force, helps her determine the cause and understand the emotions of others. She can usually tell why people do what they do, and finds it much easier to forgive as a result.
  • Combat
Aliyah began with the simplest and most versatile of lightsaber forms, Sii-Cho. The scripts provided at the temple where sufficient in teaching theory.

Her father, Venatus, taught her the art of Form III, Soresu. Focused on defensive sweeps and using enemy strikes against them. She has yet to master the form, but is considered an adept among her peers. She is also known to use Form II, Makashi and some elements of Form IV: Ataru.

The two have also been developing their own variant of Lightsaber Combat, tentatively named Heima Lachna. The Way of the Guard and Blade, it focuses on using your weapon in every way possible. A user of Heima Lachna never stops moving in a fight, and every one of the attacks and blocks are part of that continual movement, stopping only when having struck an enemy.

Aliyah's skills with long and short range weapons have vastly improved since the beginning of her training. Blaster pistols are a walk in the park, rifles slightly more tricky. But her personal favorite weapon is her Compound Bow, capable of using it with deadly accuracy.
  • Skills
Even as a child, she was useful for the forging of notes or thieving of items. Her skills are not nearly used as often anymore, but she will use them if necessary. She's become a pretty good pilot over the years, though not exactly a top ace.

She can also be quite seductive under select circumstances. More useful in her past, it's not a trick she employs often at all. With that, however, comes a good deal of false charisma. She is able to talk her way into or out of most situations, only breaking to timidity when pushed too far.

Mentally and emotionally, she can channel most of her negative thoughts and feelings and put a spin on them to make them positive. She can keep herself from collapsing even under the greatest stress if the need is great enough, but sometimes she can be overwhelmed, taking time to come to grips with how she feels. She can also use those positive thoughts, feelings and memories as a way to protect her mind from probing for a small amount of time.

This is definitely a great start! If you could, please add a brief section that describes her personality. This gives other people a general idea of what she is like currently. Tag me when you get a chance to get that added and ill pop back in and get her added to the roster!
