Katarn shook her head. "You need to stop it using the force."

This time she lifted a small piece from the broken disk, it would hurt if it connected, but would not cause permanent damage. "Every time you fail, this will hit you in the forehead, if you block it with your hand you will be punished. Now, prepare yourself."

Katarn allowed the piece to fly towards the acolyte.

Alice furrowed her brow and nodded. She focused on the shard of the disc, but it seemed to fly at her so quickly. She tried to focus on the disc to hold it in mid air, but could only make it shake a bit and go off course, making it scratch her cheek. She winced and put a hand to her face, but quickly brought it back down, a small drop of blood on the palm of her hand.

"A good first attempt." Katarn smiled, then suddenly stern. "Again!"

The piece swung around then flew at the girl again.

Alice faltered, caught off guard and focused completely on the chard from the disc. She couldn't grasp it, no matter how hard she concentrated, and just before it struck her in the face, she closed her eyes and did a half-yell, sending a Force push straight forward and blasting the shard back at Katarn.

Katarn reached up a hand, grabbing it from the air and holding it in her hand. "Good!" She walked up to the acolyte, holding her hand out to her as a strange light emanated from it. The cut resealed itself. "Now, we're going to keep doing this till you can do it on command. Now that you've done it through instinct, the path has been cleared, all you need to do is walk."

((feel free to time jump to however long it would take your character to master telekinesis.))

Alice nodded again and concentrated on the shard of the disc...

Several hours later...

Alice saw Katarn raise another shard of the disc and throw it at her almost immediately. Alice moved her eyes to the shard and it stopped in mid air. She raised her hand, palm up, and the shard smashed into the ceiling just as another shard came flying at her from the side. She raised her other hand and it stopped. Another shard raised into the air and she threw the one she was holding into it, shattering them into smaller pieces. When Katarn picked up several shards at once and threw them all at her, she used Force Push and sent them all flying into the wall, each shattering into several pieces.

((How many shards were in that disk?))

"Excellent." Katarn smiled. "Now that you know telekinesis, your pretty much done, every other power stems from that one, so simply pick one and I will teach it too you."

((several disks in a training room, hun))

Alice smiled and nodded. She thought for a moment about what she wanted to learn next and decided that since she knew the basics now, she figured she should learn the basics about melee combat. "I was wondering if I could learn how to use a lightsaber," she said, wondering if there was a special way to use it. She'd heard that there were different lightsaber forms, but hadn't learned any of them.

"Right," Katarn frowned, hitting herself lightly on the head. "I completely forgot, I want you to spend the next week in the library reading up on the various history and beliefs of the Bogan. You'll also find a lot of data on lightsabers. Decide what form you want to use and meet me back here in a week."

Alice straightened and bowed slightly. "Yes, Master. In the mean time would you like me to return here every day for Force power training?" she asked, hopeful that she'll be able to learn her training quickly. She remembered that every morning she's supposed to go to the field to practice her aim.

"No,: Katarn shook her head. "You'll need that time to study. After all, there will be a test!"

Alice nodded, thankful that she'd have more time to research lightsaber forms. Then she frowned and wondered if there would be other training. "So... I won't see you for the next week?" she asked, doubting that the next week will be enjoyable spending it only with books and... Kel, she thought.

"I'm afraid not," katarn frowned. "I do have to return to training my other padawans after all."

((don't forget, your not training with Kel, but a slave ^_^))

((Oh, that's right. I forgot))

Alice nodded and realized that she was being selfish. Then she remembered that it was a slave she'd be training with in the mornings and it didn't seem so bad. Alice bowed with a nod and departed from Katarn's presence, heading to the library. She was very interested in learning about lightsaber combat now, and she wanted to make Katarn proud. Alice entered the library and went straight to one of the shelves, searching through the titles for anything to do with lightsaber combat. The third book she pulled mentioned something called Shii-Cho on the first page, explaining that it was a lightsaber form and she was suddenly interested. She began reading and started to realize a lot about how a lightsaber is wielded. She read on for several hours and finished the book by the time the sun set and it felt like time had flown by.

The next morning, Alice awoke smoothly. She opened her eyes and changed her clothing quickly, grabbing the rifle from beneath her bed and slinging the strap around her shoulder. She promptly made her way to the field that she'd trained in the previous day and saw the slave awaiting her arrival. She nodded to the man and he nodded back, an absent look in his eyes. She went to the spot where she'd crouched before and took the rifle from her shoulder, holding it in both hands, barrel pointed to the ground. "I'll trust you to train me accordingly, increase the number of discs you throw as my aim gets better," she instructed.

When Alice had taken her position next to the rock and braced the weapon against her shoulder, the slave threw a disc into the air and Alice shot at it three or four times before shattering it. She reloaded the weapon and nodded to the slave. He threw another and she shattered it on the second shot. This continued for several hours, learning to fire where the disc was going to be instead of where it was. Alice learned to control the kickback and recoil of the rifle with each shot so she wouldn't end up spraying so many rounds as often and she often changed her stance so she could get accustomed to the different firing positions.

Just as the sun reached its highest point in the sky, the slave had run out of discs and bowed to Alice, taking his leave. Alice nodded in return and slung the rifle around her shoulder, deciding to go to the library to read the book again. She returned the rifle to her quarters and placed it under her bed, making her way down the halls. Just before she got to the library, she noticed Kel. She quickly turned around the corner and ducked into the library, not wishing to have a confrontation with the sexist.

Alice spent the next three hours reading the book and flipping back to past chapters to connect the different strikes with the proper counters. Shii-Cho was the basic form of lightsaber combat that was taught to everyone, but she decided that it would be good to read extra about it so she knew the core basics about the forms. She'd scanned over some pages that mentioned the seventh form, Juyo / Vaapad. It was based on direct movements and strikes that had to do with more power, but she decided to focus more on Shii-Cho for the time being.

At the end of the week, Alice returned to Katarn's training chamber, quite confident with herself. She saw Katarn awaiting her arrival and smiled. "Good afternoon, Katarn," she said, just having returned from rifle practice in the field. She had now mastered firing it without needing to look down the sights and hitting the disc on the first shot.

"Please recite to me the code of the Bogan." Katarn asked, her usual smile in place.

Alice straightened and promptly recited the Code of the Dark Jedi that guided the Bogan. "The Bogan are guided by the Code of the Dark Jedi. No peace, only suffering. No knowledge, only instinct. No serenity, only passion. No harmony, only chaos. No life, only death," she answered swiftly.

"Good," Katarn nodded. "Now what do those tenants mean?"

Alice looked at Katarn and smiled. "The first tenant means that all life is meant to experience suffering, until the person accepts that they will never understand anything, as suffering is the way to motivate and anger individuals. The second tenant is meant to be seen as constructive against the Jedi teachings. They are weak, and indecisive and do not take action when it is needed. The third tenant, says that we should embrace our emotions. It's what separates us from the Jedi, and gives us our strength. To be the mortals we are, we need our feelings and passion to fuel us through the suffering in life that is expressed through the first tenant," she said, relating the tenants to each other as one is meant to, in order to fully understand the meaning of the Bogan Code. The fourth tenant states that there is no will of the Force. What happens is what we make it to be, there is no destiny or foretold events. The universe is chaotic. The fifth tenant is death, the end of life. To complete the cycle of the tenants and to embrace the end of our path," she said, trying to answer the question to the best of her ability.

"Very good." Katarn smiled. "Now, did you decide on a lightsaber style?"

Alice slightly changed her posture from reciting an answer to telling Katarn what she desired to learn. "I read about Shii-Cho. That it's the basics and core fundamentals of all lightsaber combat. I'd like to begin with that, but I also read a bit about Juyo / Vaapad, a more direct, strength based form of lightsaber combat," she said.
