SUBSISTENCE
One in every several hundred people possess a golden spark. The light of the Force shines down on them, and their lives are forever guided by it. Those who heed the Force's call and complete the journey are known as Jedi. This one man changed the definition.
It is tradition to invoke the muse, Calliope, who will inspire and support this creative endeavor. May she endow with her favor to this legend.
Two young street rats living in the horrible city of Nar Shaddaa. Fighting for what they needed to subsist, and living in a terrible place for children, these two siblings had nothing but each other. The Elus siblings were thieves and very good ones. They looked so much alike with their fair skin, green eyes, and dark brown hair. Algent Elus was only seven, but his sister, Methara Elus had just turned eighteen. They were notorious for stealing credits, food, and anything they could get their hands on, and then they would disappear before their victim would even realize who they were. Like the many thieves and orphans before them, they were not on the streets by choice. Their mother raised Methara for most of her life, but died when Algent was three, so he did not particularly remember her. However, Methara was taught skills to survive by her mother. Some of these skills were necessary, and others were inappropriate for someone of the streets to know. Methara raised her younger brother since the time she was thirteen, and passed all of the skills she learned from their mother to him. Algent had made a terrible mistake that ended up splitting him from his sister, and changing his perspective of the world forever. However it did bring him to find the Jedi where his skills were most useful.
The transport craft was crashing from the skies of Tython into the forests below. The recent destruction of the Coruscant Jedi temple had forced the Jedi to move all initiates to a different and safer temple. However the transport shuttle was heavily damaged in a asteroid field and was quickly crashing into the atmosphere of the Tython forest. The students were hurried as quickly as they could to escape pods that would jettison them to safety. The adults were quickly rushing the jedi initiates for they only had minutes to impact. Warning sirens were going off constantly and there was a red tint from the emergency lights all across the vehicle. Almost every child was out safely except for the fifth oldest of the twenty children being transported. The fourteen year old Algent Elus was last in line to get an escape shuttle. He was fearful that there would be no escape for him. It got down to the wire and finally it was young Elus's turn to enter an escape pod. Just as it looked like Elus was safe, a fire broke out, and blocked the way to safety.
There was another Jedi instructor there and he was just as worried as Elus. The ship was only several minutes away from a fiery crash and there was no escape in sight for the two. He turned to Elus, and Elus turned to him as they tried to think. Suddenly the Jedi Instructor had a great idea and decided to use a Force push that would shoot through the fire. Elus stood back as the Jedi used a powerful Force push to extinguish the fire. However the ship was mere seconds away from the crash and there was no time for the two of them to enter safely. The Jedi ran and grabbed for the boy and slung him into the escape pod. The boy's last sight was the Jedi sacrificing himself by slamming the escape pod's launch button while the Jedi was still in the ship. The force of the escape pod's jettison caused the boy to smack his head and land in a forest in the state of unconsciousness.
Young Algent Elus was nineteen and had been through his full initiate training. He has been formally trained in the pillars of the Jedi, and simply awaited his training with a master to be finished. Algent's skills with a staff were quite formidable and had only flourished since his joining with the Jedi Order. Algent Elus however did not seek to be a Jedi Knight which somewhat surprised his master, Zolotoy Tsiviets. He actually wanted to be a Jedi Shadow in description, and serve the galaxy as he feels it rightfully should be served; as a Black Knight. His goal was to make penance for his mistake that split him from his sister. To repay the debt to his sister, Algent wanted to make her life dream a reality for the entire galaxy. On top of all of that, Algent had a Force Vision that detailed a Jedi dressed in a black cloak and had a female Jedi Master at his mercy. Algent did not understand the vision at that time. During his training he learned a great deal of things and demonstrated several skills such as his knowledge of the Jedi Tenets.
THE TURNING POINT
The Holonet was hot with a story on a hostage situation. A poor Twi'lek girl had been kidnapped by her parents on Coruscant. The entire thing had happened due to the Twi'lek's parents. The Twi'lek's name was Aslna'Lassno. Her parents had spoken out against a local crime lord whom wanted their "protection" money. The parents would not budge, and they even decided to alert the local law enforcement agency. It was a foolish decision as the crime lord had his hands deep in the local authorities, and now the girl was paying the price. The parents were already begging the crime lord to release their daughter in return for the protection money and their silence. They were going to be pleading all over the holonet that day. The whereabouts of the girl were unknown as the crimelord was most elusive. Obviously, the child was actually with one of the safe houses that they used for selling death sticks and other kinds of "spice." However not a single one of them were able to captured, and the Jedi had not been able to alleviate the situation officially yet.
Serus Lazte, a slythmonger and suspect in the kidnapping, entered his supposedly abandoned home through the slightly broken down, metal sliding doors. He noticed the window was open and from the outside. Serus immediately panicked. Serus thought it could have been the cops ready to spring a trap, or maybe one of his enemies or tweaker customers. All the spice that the slythmonger was on had made him paranoid, and possible on the verge of insanity. The paranoid man quickly drew his blaster and turned to the door on his left. It was still locked and whatever was inside had to still be inside. In his mind, Serus was thinking it was someone against him instead of someone who simply stole from him and fled like a normal person would think. There was such a silence and with the lights in the apartment completely out there was little to no chance of anything or anyone being seen. There was the sound of movement behind him and suddenly the door was closed.
Suddenly, the man was thrown underneath the very light of the streets shining in through the window. Serus was absolutely terrified as he was being assaulted by darkness. Whatever had thrown Serus had gone to untie and free the girl, and she was out in minutes. She stayed hidden in the dark while the benevolent force went to the disarmed and stunned man near the window. The "force" that had seeming saved the day walked out into the lighting of the window's view. The local authorities were closing in, and before Algent left, he shared a kiss with the Twi'lek girl he saved.
SENSELESS
Algent Elus had finished his animal studies on the planet of Myrkr. Algent had finished the report he was instructed to do by a Jedi Instructor for one of the several non-Force classes. However, upon the Young Padawan's return to the Jedi Monastery on Tython, he had been feeling a strange disconnection to everyone; apathy. Algent went to visit Master Satle for answers. Master Satle revealed that Algent had disappeared from the Force entirely. With the help of another Padawan named Allie Dawn, Algent Elus set out to find what was wrong at the Jedi Archive on Coruscant. On the transport ride there, Allie and Algent shared a great deal together. Allie experienced a vision while out of Algent's range, they spoke about each others personal secrets, and even made love. When they finally arrived, Algent discovered it was a Ysalamir that climbed into his equipment much to Allie's amusement.
