To be born a Deucalian is to either grow strong, or to die trying, and this was not something simple for Ake, his family was not an influential or particularly skilled one, his parents were not even Deucalian to begin with, they were Thralls, slave for an Alemanii master that captured them during one of their annual raids.
But has Deucalian society goes, strength is valued above most things, and even the lowest of Thralls if strong enough could ascend to the rank of Plyndrer, becoming a Free Man, and strength was what brought Ake's father to challenge his master to Holmgang, beating him and elevating his place in society.
Due to these events, Ake's early life was a mix of notions from his father's original culture and the one he actually lived in, and this particular combination would lead up to an adolescent Ake at his Trial of The Vanguard, where he was sent on a particularly gruesome raid with a group of fellow warrior and their Bersark, said Bersark was the first one to fall, died as the pod opened and the bolts of plasma started filling it's chamber, in the end, only 4 of the crew of 10 would survive the massacre and return one with the respective kill and loot.
And now Ake was officially a Plyndrer, but these are dark times, probably darker than what he would have expected, and maybe he would not live to see the light... or should we say darkness of this new era.

PERSONALITY
To be a Raider, to be a Deucalian, one is constantly challenged by the planet, the society, themselves and the one challenge we can never win, Death.
Ake's life was shaped by such challenges from his birth and this is what made him into the cold, calculating man he his today
but as many wouldn't say, he's not selfish, he does what he does only for the betterment of his clan and family, glory is the real loot for this Deucalian.
