BIOGRAPHY
[fancybox2]
Two years after Ailill's birth, the toddler's health rapidly declined. Hospitalized for weeks at a time until the age of fourteen, he was eventually diagnosed with several crippling conditions. Solar urticaria and xeroderma pigmentosum were chief among them, as well as nocturnal asthma. Life became a living hell for the boy as his family continued to seek medical help. When conventional treatments to handle their son's worst ailments failed they desperately turned to more experimental methods. If anything, his condition was worsened by pseudo-medicine, magical miracle workers, and home remedies. A UV-blocking suit was crafted by a local couturier with the aid of a few medical professionals in order to give Ailill a fighting chance.
Ailill managed to live much longer than expected of a boy in his situation. By the age of sixteen, his parent's business was failing, thrusting the family into a financial dark age. They decided to sell out to a competing franchise and worked for them in management, bringing them back up a tax bracket. It was then that Ailill's path in life was trailblazed.
The young man was hired on as a light freighter pilot by the company that had financially saved his parents. He ran regular shipments of custodial equipment and droids to and from a few Onderonian spaceports to Dxun outposts. Descendants of the beast riders and exiled criminals made their home at these outposts and worked the spacedocks. It wasn't long before he was smuggling seeds of Dxun flora and caged fauna to buyers on Onderon. It put a pretty penny into the novice smuggler's pocket.
He diverted his illegal cash flow into separate accounts until he could afford a light freighter of his own. He saved up and expanded his ledger significantly, and was able to afford his own YG-300 freighter. With time, he renovated the interior to be a bit friendlier to his body. The viewports were all lined with a film to block UV light, and the light fixtures were all replaced with high-pressure sodium lamps so that Ailill could dress plainly on his own ship. He had the freighter, dubbed the Handy Heckler, registered with the franchise so that he could continue his work without suspicion.
With his new ship and the opportunities that came with it, Ailill took his business to other star systems. Naturally, the young smuggler expanded his cargo from more than just the flora and fauna of some backwater moon.[/fancybox2]
WHY HE WEARS THE SUIT
[fancybox4="http://i.imgur.com/qZcMF6S.png?1"]"I hate the dark. "
Solar urticaria is classified as the rare condition in which exposure to ultraviolet, and sometimes even visible, light can induce cases of painful blisters and hives on unprotected areas of skin. Paired with mild xeroderma pigmentosum, sunlight on his exposed skin is an incredibly debilitating. Ailill has lived with an extreme case of the already rare diseases since the earliest stages of his life. In his current state, Ailill's ailments cause burns, lesions, blisters, and hives of such intensity when exposed to sunlight or other forms ultraviolet light that he is unable to perform simple tasks.
Nocturnal asthma is something Ailill struggles with privately. It isn't something he can shield himself from with a simple barrier or a prescription. Every night is his body's own personal war with sleep. He wakes up, sometimes just minutes after falling asleep for the tenth time that night, feeling like he's drowning. Not even sleeping with a respirator mask fully remedies the problem, although it helps.
The suit Ailill wears was crafted by a local couturier with the aid of the Aherne family doctor and a few of his colleagues. Although it protects the wearer from blades and blasters as well as a t-shirt, the suit offers protection from the harsh UV rays emitted by the sun and other light sources. The helmet features a quiet respiration mouth piece to pull a higher concentration of oxygen from the air, allowing the smuggler to sleep during downtime. He is only able to take it off when unexposed from UV light.[/fancybox4]
PERSONALITY, POLITICS, AND FAITH
[fancybox2]
Social gatherings are not his strong suit. He can easily become overwhelmed and burnt out, resulting in a quiet and detached attitude. Conveying thoughts and ideas to others are often difficult for Ailill because of a fast and unorthodox train of thought. Paired with the near inability to relate to others' emotions, he just doesn't mix well with others.
Despite his issues, Ailill longs for companionship of any sort. He feels alone and isolated even in the most crowded marketplaces.
Ailill is patriotic and proud of his Onderonian upbringing. He is usually aware of political happenings on his homeworld and is well informed of his government's structure. An effort is also usually made by him to keep a general understanding of the Galactic Senate, as they pertain to his small-time smuggling activities.
Although incredibly loyal to the Onderonian Crown, he takes an individualistic stance to how he thinks sentients should be ruled. The idea he clings to is that as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else, there is nothing wrong with it. When others challenge him with opposing thoughts he doesn't mind, as long as they are thought out and with reason. Mob mentality and mindless-followership repulses Ailill.
Ailill's faith is very personal to him. As a follower of Laithraic Paganism, he believes in a pantheon of nameless deities, each embodying a concept of the proper Onderonian. To him, these Paragods represent the aspects of himself in which he strives to solidify. He respects the Godborn, force users who he believes will enter the Paragod pantheon.
