PERSONALITY

monrose-anim-smallcrop_zpslmslsn91.gif

Adella is vivacious and outwardly friendly, with a warm and kind smile. However, if you go beyond the outer shell, you learn that she can be difficult to get close to, and is quite secretive. She would much rather hear about your day and your problems, than speak of her own, primarily because she views her own life as unremarkable and not worth attention. Her reluctance to speak of her past gives her a slight air of mystery which she tends to laugh off as inconsequential. When she’s at work she exudes an aura of competency and professionality which combined with her friendly attitude tends to make people feel at ease around her.

She’s ambitious and has a strong drive to live the good life, as a result she admires and is attracted to individuals with power and wealth. She’s loyal and motivated, but most of her relationships with people are shallow and uncommitted, and she wishes she had something more with someone.

Adella is not physically strong, and is unlikely to overpower anyone. She is fairly observant and aware of her surroundings. Her endurance is slightly above average, and as an experienced deep diver she can hold her breath for a longer time than normal for humans. She’s a charismatic person who loves to interact with people, and intelligent enough to keep a conversation going on a large number of subjects suitable for social interactions. Her entire being is agile, and she moves with a natural grace and lightness. She’s slightly more lucky than average, but not so much that it’s noticeable.

BIOGRAPHY
[fancybox2] Adella was born on Lorrd, into a normal working-class family. Her parents were mechanics working for a firm serving the local spaceport, and the young Adella spent many a childhood hour among the derelict spaceships that awaited repair. Believing at the time that their daughter was going to follow in their footsteps, Adella’s parents started tutoring her in mechanics and repair as soon as she was old enough to hold a wrench on her own. The girl enjoyed the work and found a sense of pride and accomplishment in being able to assist her parents as her skills grew.
While the money was always tight for their family, the tiny apartment they lived in held all the necessities of life. Compared to what others had, though, it was nothing. At the spaceport, Adella would look at the rich families who could afford to travel, and envy them. If only she knew how much she would soon envy the land-locked.

She was five when her little sister was born, and not long after that the family moved off-planet, going to work for a larger company which had divisions on many worlds. The pay was better, but their new positions required moving around a lot. The longest they stayed in one place for the next decade was fourteen months, and even then they had hardly settled down before it was time to move again.

It was difficult to make friends when their stay on a planet was so short, and eventually Adella simply stopped trying to fit in. She took comfort in her study books and in the large starship engines her parents occasionally let her assist with, and while she always found a way to hang out with local kids she viewed their social interactions as a game, something she could win, rather than something significant and serious. As she became a teenager, the stepped up the game and became more outgoing, seeking to maximize what she could get out of a short-term friendship before it was time to leave for someplace new. She never looked back once they were off-planet again.

Living as nomads wasn’t all bad. They got to see new places and experience different cultures up close. Adella quickly learned that something which was totally acceptable on one planet was unthinkable on the next, and became skilled at adapting her behavior to match. She began to reinvent herself, tailoring a role to fit in wherever they would go. Her sister, on the other hand, remained stubbornly herself, doing her best to make and keep friends across the galaxy.

On her 18th birthday, her parents announced that they had been saving up money on the side so that Adella would be able to go to a university. Having watched her study over the years, they had come to the conclusion she was meant for greater things than metal and motor oil. Shocked and humbled by their gift, Adella applied for several different universities, and eventually got into an academy on Brentaal IV, where she would be studying galactic law.

Moving away from her family was tough, but she found modest accommodations - sharing a tiny flat with a fellow student - and reveled in the feeling of being land-locked again, walking around on campus and in the city with a barely-veiled grin for days before the reality of student life kicked in. She took a job waiting tables and set to the task of memorizing the letter of the law.

Her room-mate, Maiara of House Fuone, was a student of informatics, and constantly trying to expand her knowledge of rival merchant families’ tactics. She made a deal with Adella; If Adella taught her to move around socially, stealing ideas out of people’s heads through conversation, Maiara would teach Adella to slice like a pro. Studying became their life, and when they felt secure in their abilities they started eliciting little favors or tokens of appreciation from their marks; usually something small and easily converted into credits. Their net of connections grew exponentially, and soon they were invited as crowd-fillers to parties at every level of high society. Some times they would lounge with a drink in hand and wait for people to approach them, more often they would seek their marks among the crowds and elope, giggling like schoolgirls, afterwards.

This went on for a few years, with the two young women careful not to overstep their bounds and attract the wrong kind of attention, until Maiara announced that her family had found her a good prospective husband. They had completed their degrees, and the family felt it was time for Maiara to take her next step up the social ladder. Adella could tell by her body language that Maiara was uncertain but determined to go through with it, and hid her own devastation at the loss of her friend very well. She wished Maiara the best of luck and, for once in her life, watched someone she cared about walk away from her, rather than the other way around.

Having lost her roommate, Adella moved to an even tinier apartment, barely more than a kitchenette, sleeping alcove and a bathroom so tiny she could brush her teeth and take a shower at the same time. She thought about her options and decided she wanted something better for herself; she wanted to be counted among the rich and powerful. The next time she went out to a party with members of high society she was no longer playing.

Being young, attractive and skilled, there were plenty of possibilities out there for Adella, but one man in particular caught her eye - or perhaps it was fair to say she caught his eye first, sashaying about in a dress which fit her just right. Whichever it was, she found herself offered a job by a powerful man, Greymarch Yun, whose contact net spanned a multitude of planets, and whose HQ was on Chandrila, right at the heart of the Republic. Her skills and talent for law secured her a place on his staff, while her talents for certain other activities secured her a place in his bed, if rumors were to be believed. She traveled with Yun to Chandrila, leaving her old life behind.

She worked for Mr.Yun on Chandrila, and some time before the Sith attacked she met a mysterious young woman whom she only remembers as Dawn, and for whom she has some choice words should they ever meet again.

Timeskip: Adella escaped Chandrila before the Sith fleet arrived, rescuing Mr. Yun and many of the people in their employ from a hostile takeover attempt with the help of Aethon Kast. In the time that has passed, with their resources being strained and many assets out of action, it became necessary for her to expand her skillset to remain useful. Thankfully, Aethon was more than willing to help her with a paticular subset of her skills which she had previously left mostly unattended. So in the five years after Chandrila's fall Adella received training as an operative in addition to a lot of on-site experience with the intricate runnings of their corporation to fill roles that had been vacated in the chaos of the Republic's fall, and eventually caught the eyes of someone higher up in the chain of shell corporations that indirectly controlled Mr.Yun. Noting her potential and somewhat unusual niche skillset, she was transfered to Guardian in earnest to become an active agent. While she misses the stable Mr.Yun and their lazy afternoons together discussing business strategies, she finds herself in the big leagues now, and is eager to prove herself.

SKILLS
[fancybox4="http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a240/skyggedal/Dell/melodie-monrose-by-gomillion-and-leupold-for-jones-magazine-2-900x1200-e-small_zpsllxafgi9.jpg"]
Blaster: Adella has become somewhat handy with a blaster over the past few years, but it is still not her best skill. She can draw pretty quick but her aim needs work.
Blades: She’s surprisingly good with a vibroknife, and often hides one or more around on her body. She used to find vibroswords unwieldy but has made an effort to train with an electroblade since the Republic's fall. She's still far better with the knives.
Dodge: Getting out of harm’s way with fluid grace is something she does very well, and she has recently had the unfortunate opportunity to try this out in practice. Thanks to her training with Aethon, she survived to tell the tale.
Escape Artist: She can escape bonds like nobody’s business, and is good at squeezing through tight spots. It’s come in handy more times than you’d expect.
Athletics: While no gymnast, Adella takes good care of herself and is quite fit. She plays a number of sports on a casual basis, and occasionally goes rock climbing.
Running: Adella can run long distances without getting tired, but is not very good at bursts of speed over short distances.
Swimming: A seasoned hobbyist deep diver, she knows how to swim deep with and without rebreathers and other equipment.
Stealth: Adella is very good at blending in with a crowd, and she's been training to improve her ability to sneak around hidden and unseen. She's still far better at vanishing in a crowd than she is sneaking through wilderness, however.

Dancing: She’s good at moving her body to a rhythm, but she knows no specific dances. However, with someone to lead, she is usually able to follow pretty well.
Gambling: Adella wins about as often as she loses, but she’s very good at reading other players due to her training in kinetic language. She likes to lose on purpose to make people think she isn’t a good player.
Cesa: She’s a capable player of this game.
Persuasion: Getting people to tell her their stories or spill their secrets without realizing is one of her fortes.
Social: A natural-born socialite, Adella is adept at social situations and understanding connections between people. She mingles like a pro.
Culinary Arts: She’s a decent cook, able to make an enjoyable dinner for a small group of people. When it comes to luxury foods or rare ingredients she’s way out of her depths.
Drink Mixology: Adella knows the recipes of many drinks, and has become a proficient drink mixer. Ask her for a Con Creeda sometime, or a Bothan on the Beach.

Pilot (Swoop): She got herself a cheap swoop while she was a student, and has been speeding ever since.
Pilot (Starship): She can pilot a starship, and although she prefers to do it with the assistance of a navigation droid she has become proficient enough to do so alone if necessary. She's even able to do the not-trivial skimming maneuver of the Sunskimmer after quite a lot of practice. She has very limited combat experience, however.
Repair: She can repair almost anything mechanical from droids to starship engines, given the correct tools, spare parts, and necessary time.
Mechanics: Having assisted her parents for years as a youngster, Adella is a capable mechanic, and could work in maintenance anywhere.
Engineering: Her ability to create items is limited, but she can draw on her experience with repairs and mechanics to construct items with which she is either familiar or has sufficient time to study the blueprint for.

Bureaucracy: Forms, applications and legal documents are like an open book to her. She can navigate the depths of the Senate archives and come out on the other side with what she was looking for, and not pick up any infractions or other complications on the way.
Galactic Law: After studying galactic law for her degree, Adella knows the laws that apply within the Republic space to the letter. You have no idea how useless this skill is when the Republic doesn't exist anymore.
Business Administration: She trained in this field, and under the tutelage of Mr. Yun she has become a proficient administrator.
Record-keeping: As part of her Law studies, she learned to keep records and notes in an orderly manner, as well as a form of shorthand for taking notes more quickly.
Computer Use: She’s decent at using computers, and knows her way around the standard editing and publishing packages.
Investigation: Finding out things about people or companies, using clues that she finds or gets, is something she enjoys doing, and which she has gotten quite a bit of practice with over the past few years.
Slicing: Her roommate taught her how to slice like a pro, and as she’s now approaching Maiara’s level, Adella can get in and out of most systems without being noticed. The highest grade systems are out of her reach though, and require a little phishing trip or a bit of social engineering instead.

GEAR
  • B-8R Blaster Pistol
  • Two small vibroknives, a hand’s length from tip to pommel
  • One electroblade, customized to be the length of Adella’s arm from elbow to wrist. It's got a rose-and-thorns pattern engraved on the handle, and the electric charge glows with a bluish purple.
  • A customized MCV MK. IV made to fit under a layer of clothing. (Consequently, it only protects against blaster pistol hits as per the item explanation.)
  • Repulsorboots
  • A self-made hydrospanner-multitool
  • A worn mechanic’s jumpsuit with goggles and steel-capped magnetic sole boots
  • An old, worn copy of Mechanics 101: The definitive guide to mechanics for beginners
  • Wrist-mounted computer
  • Handheld communicator
  • Pendant made from various spare machine parts by her parents, gifted to her when she was ten, on a woven leather cord
  • Digital textbooks on law and business administration, which she really ought to just delete.
  • A few cheap detective novels
  • Clothes, from street casual via workplace dignified to nachspiel classy with a dip into lasciviousness at both ends of the scale
  • Various accessories
  • A thin, 12 cm long blackened steel bolt she uses primarily as a hair accessory
  • Diving suit
  • Rebreather
  • Modified Sunskimmer-Class Starbird, Scirocco, fits up to 2 passengers in reasonable comfort and can carry 1-3 tons of cargo (1 with passengers, 3 without). It's registered as a passenger transport for a small, but somewhat successful low-end luxury transport company.

  • 1000 credits
DROIDS
  • R4-K2 - A navigation droid Adella affectionately calls Kaytoo. With Kaytoo, she would fly a starship from A to B before the Republic fell. The droid was recovered from Chandrila, but she has learned to fly without it in the time since.

LANGUAGES
- Kinetic language: As a Lorrdian, Adella was trained in the language of movements, posture and gestures from early childhood, and is very good at reading body language of even non-Lorrdians as a result. It tends to give her an advantage in some gambling situations.
- Basic: She's fluent in galactic basic, and its various sociolects.
- Legalese: Having studied galactic law, Adella is fluent in the language of bureaucrats and lawyers, both spoken and fine print.
- Huttese: While not fluent in the language, she speaks and understands it at a high level. Some technical terms and advanced constructions are beyond her current knowledge, and she has a tendency to speak it a little softly, which makes some Hutts take her less seriously.
- Bocce: She knows some standard phrases of this lingua franca of spacers from her childhood growing up on stations and planets along the Hydian Way, and has made sure to keep them from being forgotten. You never know when it might come in handy to tell someone you could use a landing spot. or request docking permission. Other than the standard phrases she speaks an informal dialect of Bocce that is local to the Way.

CONTACTS
- Dawn Whisperwind
- Aethon Kast

Well, in your faction brief you write "As the years rolled by, Guardian delved even deeper into the shadows, developing intricate networks of shell corporations and ventures outside of Republic jurisdiction to fund its operations." That was the part that got me thinking about how it could match up. Adella works for a corporation which is in many ways a legal-looking shell over a number of sub-companies and other assets which create funding for and sometimes performs various services for Senate-affiliated bigwigs. Since it was associated with the Republic before its fall (my original plan to be a Senatorial aide fell through, unfortunately, so this was my fall-back), including ties with Senators and other Republic higher-ups, I was thinking it would make sense if they were perhaps eventually subsumed into or aqcuired by a larger faction once the Republic had gone and much of its raison d'être was gone, thus turning Adella into an asset for the larger faction instead.

If that doesn't really fit well with your thoughts on the faction as it currently stands I'll leave her as independent for now and perhaps apply once her personal story takes a different turn. :)

Interesting. So If You join guardian with her, what would she do for us IC? What type of threads would you want to do with her?

IC - asset management, planning, intelligence analysis, mission support and logistics. Recruitment, maybe, or diplomacy. She's a capable slicer and social manipulator so she could theoretically do undercover or stealth work.

As for threads, I prefer the social threads, I've got little experience with PvP and most of it negative so I'm not particularly attracted to combat threads versus other players. I realize that means I'm probably no good for the most impactful type of mission threads.

Sorry for the late reply, busy days at work. @Fyremage

Our goal is to primarily be a story-centered faction. So while yes, we may pvp, our focus will be more on ask missions that have an impact on a story level. So if you feel your character could occasionally take on story based threads, that would be acceptable. I just don't want you to be too limited in our faction considering how niche she is. But if you feel it won't be a problem, then...

[approved]

Just reply back if you feel that it would or would not be a problem in light of what i've explained above.

Sounds good, I would like to be a part of some story based threads as long as my tiny niche is relevant for it. :)
