EQUIPMENT

DESCRIPTION
The AAT medium repulsortank is a large combat vehicle which was manufactured by Baktoid Armor Workshops prior to the Clone Wars, primarily for use by its B-series battle droids, with which it was generally sold as a package deal. One of the best such vehicles of its day, the AAT was used by various state and corporate militaries prior to the Clone Wars, and was adopted in large numbers by the Confederacy of Independent Systems upon the war's outbreak. It was one of the most recognizable symbols of the old CIS, being heavily used in occupation as well as combat.

The AAT is a well armed machine, approximately 9.2 meters in length with a fully rotating medium laser turret on top, as well as twin blaster barbettes on the sides, which traverse up and down, and can be used to shoot behind the machine as well as forward. There are also a pair of blaster cannons mounted in the lower hull, along with a sextet of forward-firing magnetically accelerated grenade launchers, capable of firing explosive projectiles up to 200 meters. The grenade launchers are generally used for anti-personnel and obstacle-clearing work. The vehicle has a crew of 4, including a commander, a driver and 2 gunners. 6 passengers can be nominally carried holding onto external handles along the sides of the hull, along with up to 10 tons of cargo, also externally.

Notably, being designed for use by battle droids, the AAT is somewhat lacking in ergonomics for the crew. Operating the vehicle for long periods of time can be tiring and uncomfortable. Also, though well armored, the AAT still has a number of weak-points, primarily consisting of its rear hatch, and of the exposed portions of its repulsorlift system at the sides and rear of the lower skirt. The AAT is also notably poor on rough terrain, although its wide skirt makes it exceptionally stable.

Like nearly all CIS war materiel, most AATs were deactivated and seized by the Empire at the end of the Clone Wars. However, they fared slightly better than some other former Separatist equipment, with some being used by the Stormtrooper Corps early in the new regime, and others being sold to Imperial allies at a discount. Many were also taken and used by rebels against the Empire, or ended up on the black market, where they continue to circulate. These days, they can be found in service to many planetary militias and criminal syndicates in the Outer Rim.

LEGALITY
Restricted. AAT medium repulsortanks are purpose-built combat craft, and are thus generally restricted from civilian ownership on most civilized worlds.

INTENT
To add a vehicle from canon to our site's fanon.

RESTRICTIONS
AAT medium repulsortanks are military vehicles, and their weapons can only be used in PVE/PVP against other vehicles and starships. They cannot be owned by individual characters, but can be acquired as a faction asset.
