A Simple Hold-Up

[Mie]

At Abeos' word, Mie released the rock with her mind, causing it to drop to the ground with a solid thud. Now, that might have been a simple matter for a Jedi, but for Mie that took quite a bit of effort to maintain, despite the seeming weakness of the technique. Once the rock was released, Mie had to take a second just to steady her breathing before continuing.

"That felt...familiar, like I had done it before. But it was also like...flexing a muscle you don't use often, so it took a bit out of me." Raising her self upright and cracking her back, Mie prepared for the next exercise. "Alright, what's next on the list?"

Abe understood what Mie felt, he remembered the first time he performed the test. That was when he was training with his master, it took a lot out of him , mentally and physically, but now he was stronger. He had to pass on what he had learned to Mie. Alright the next assignment is going to be a huge jump from what you just did. I am going to teach you how to use a lightsaber. It is a Jedi's weapon and should only be used in emergency situations. Before we go to find out your past, i plan to get you a lightsaber, but before, i have to teach you. Be very careful, the saber part can slice through your meat. Abe took out his lightsaber from his belt, and motioned for Mie to step back. When she did, he ignited the blade, glowing the semi dark room. He waved it a couple of times before closing the blade. Before i let you use this lightsaber, i am going to show you the different parts, this will come handy when i have you assemble one your self, if your'e up to the challenge.

 

[Mie]

Mie had never seen a lightsaber before, much less held, built, or used one. Sure, she had enough of a backlog of studying to understand the basic principles and procedures of a lightsaber, but that was a far cry from actually wielding one. So as Abe drew his saber, Mie took a good step back before he ignited the blade and watched it's hypnotic glow. It was such a strangely beautiful weapon, just a beam of pure energy shaped into a perfect blade, the symbol of the Jedi order as warrior-monks.

"I'm ready. At this point I guess I should be calling you Master Sarquas, huh?" A little joke, but there was some seriousness to it as Abeos was helping her immensely.

Abe nodded, Mie was as ready as it was going to get. Typically you would have to call me master, but that's only if you want, I don't really care what you call me. Here, I am going to teach you some strokes with the lightsaber, let be set up some obstacles and i'll let you cut them up. Abe handed Mie his lightsaber. I'll be back with some wood so you can cut them, meanwhile, study the lightsaber, heck even turn it on, but be careful, try not to hurt yourself or anything else. We now live in the same house, I trust you.

 

[Mie]

"W-wait, really?" Mie took the weapon gingerly from his hands, feeling its oddly familiar weight and texture in her hands. The weapon felt, almost, like it belonged here, like she was meant to be holding it, or holding a weapon like it. Once Abe was gone Mie gave a few test swings and poses, slipping naturally into a quick and precise style of stabs and light swipes. Once Abe returned he might notice the familiar, if slightly sloppy motions of Makashi in Mie's strokes.

Abe picked up some logs from outside, then returned into his house. Walking back to the room where Mie was left, he heard the familiar hum of the lightsaber. Picking up his pace, hoping Mie hadn't destroyed any property, he stopped at the doorway in disbelief. He never taught Mie Makashi ever, and while Abe knew it perfectly, it took a while learning the strokes, while Mie over here was doing it, if not a little sloppy. Still very good for a woman who he had just shown her a lightsaber, he remembered when his own master punished Abe when he did the swings and slashes wrong. Entering the room, Abe placed several logs upright on the ground. "Well, what a show off we got here. Where did you learn to pick that up? Your mysterious force teacher? Very nice indeed, if not a little mistake here and there. That means you should learn quickly. Ok so what i want you to do is follow my every move. I will use the lightsaber and cut some trees, then you will in the same manner. Abe motioned for Mie to collapse the blade, and hand it to Abe. Stepping foward, he reignited the blade, did several strokes from Form 3 which was a defense stroke.

 

[Mie]

It seemed that Abeos was very impressed with Mie's skills with a lightsaber, remarking positively, even teasingly about her skills with a weapon she just picked up. Mie had thought her flashy little flourishes were just goofing off, but it seemed that Abeos was genuinely impressed by her apparent abilities. Compliments were a rarity in Mie's life, in point of fact the only time she had ever been complimented was by pick-up artists trying to peel her out of her baggy clothes. She almost let them, if only to see the abject terror on their stupid faces when she tried to kiss them with a mouthful of jagged fangs. So, having someone like Abe commenting so positively on her blade work and not her body brought the initial creep of a blush to her lack-of-cheeks.

"Th-Thanks, Abeos. I'll try to live up to the expectation." As Abe delivered his swings, Mie took the blade as well and moved through the same strokes. Her blade work was a close match, but her footwork was a little sloppier and her strokes less controlled.

Nice job Mie. Mie shut the blade down, and handed it back to Abe. Apparently it is noon, hungry for lunch? Abe clicked the weapon back to his belt. If you're not hungry, we can do some more tests if you would like. You are very good with a lightsaber, and you learn quick, but you seem to be doing it rather quick, you have to concentrate on where you want the blade to go. The decision is up to you. After you are done with the training, we can go out to the market and purchase some materials for you to build your very own lightsaber.

 

[Mie]

Mie handed over the blade, with a little reluctance, as it was a strangely comforting thing to hold in her hands, but she still recognized that it was not her property, but Abeos'. He offered to get lunch with her, which was a minor and unappealing offer at this point since Mie wasn't hungry, and to help her construct a lightsaber. A proposal that was infinitely more complex and expensive than just popping out for a midday meal. As tempting as it was, Mie knew that she wasn't going to be able to get a kyber crystal at the local super market, so all she would really be making was an empty hilt, one that would undoubtedly be expensive.

"I want to thank you Abeos, really, but I don't need a lightsaber right now. I need to get back to my hostel before someone notices I'm gone and thinks I'm dead or something. When we're done here, I think I'm going to start preparing for the trip. It might take a while, but I want to make sure I have everything I need to go."

Of course, would you like me to accompany you, or would you wish to travel alone? It may be best you travel alone for people who know you might be suspicious when there is a man walking with you. The decision is yours, it was nice having you over, I hope you remember everything. When you want more training you can always come back and ask, the fee is free. Abe smiled, it was fun having Mie over and training her, he finally was able to use the force again. This is what it must have felt for his master. His master....he still did not know where he was, he hadn't spoken or had any contact since his master proclaimed Abeos a Jedi Knight. He wished Abe a good luck, and walked out into the night. Abe occasionally had dreams about him. He longed to see him again, not now of course, but soon.

 

[Mie]

"I can make it alone, it's fine." Before leaving the training room, Mie threw her arms around Abeos in a hug, a gesture of friendship and appreciation that had been rare in Mie's life, both giving and receiving. Once that was all said and done, Mie went back to the spare room, grabbing the rest of her clothes and covering her strange mutations. After that was done, she gave Abe one final goodbye, and a bow that she assumed a Jedi would give, and stepped out into the streets of Corellia, a spring in her step and a lightness in her heart, both of which were previously unknown to her.
