Corina was not encouraged by this response, "you do not need to know anything about him to know if he did well enough. Was his sparring patient and did he take advantage of whatever he could? Did he make the correct decisions? What did you feel from him as you fault? I know you were concentrating on the fight, but surely you must have gathered impressions of him, what do you think of him, compared to what you consider the so-called 'ideal' Jedi?"

“In terms of stemming the flow of violence, Osman did not do as what I would expect. He stayed farther back, with fleeing in mind when I told him to step forward to stop the dark master. If that man was stopped, the source of the dark aura would surely cease to exist.”

"I understand," said Corina. It was certainly something she had noticed. It was most disturbing, "a Jedi should not flee from a threat and leave it to harm others. Unless they feel completely out matched, in which case most Jedi would stay and defend against it anyway. Either way, I should like to tell you something," she raised her hand a little and the tiny holorecorder detached itself from Ameratsu's belt and floated into her hand, "this is a holorecorder. I watched the entire mission, and I must say I thought you did indeed perform well, especially considering the skill of the man you fought. And I was surprised at your modesty, I myself would struggle to remain so quiet and intravert when recounting a tale where I had succeeded for the Jedi. On that note, I would like you to tell me how you understand the eight tenets."

((There are eight paragraphs, each outlining 1 tenet in the Jedi Archives. And the thread is called "The Eight Tenets"...one would assume that there are eight.))

((Damn, that was a ton of research. :p))

"A Jedi loyally serves the government as guardians and protectors of peace and order. If a galactic crisis emerges, a Jedi is expected to choose a side, even if that side's foe includes other Jedi."

"Emotions are part of a Jedi - they cannot be removed. However, they are expected to be kept in check, and to be utilized to gain more knowledge."

"One who leads a romantic life have a set list of responsibilities that they are expected to uphold. It may become a burden if a Jedi is unable to maintain those responsibilities."

"Lives are treated with respect: a life should not be taken unless the situation is dire, and there are no other option."

"A Jedi protects the weak and defenseless from evil, giving aid to those in need within reason of the Code, tenets, and the law. They are expected to have mercy on the defenseless."

"A Jedi should not feel that they must follow the decisions of the Grandmaster and High Council without knowing why they should do so. Even so, they should respect their wishes. They can decide to take actions that they believe to be righteous."

Rulership and extreme financial wealth possessed by a Jedi are not uncommon. However, a Jedi must be willing to forsake such material or social wealth for their Order. A Jedi must rule kindly and with fairness, but they also must not neglect their teachings or their people. As such, the life of a Jedi ruler is a hard one - many choose to pursue a single path, rather than attempt to walk both with one foot.

"A Jedi must be willing to part with luxuries for the sake of the Order. A Jedi ruler must be fair to his or her peoples, but are faced with great responsibilities and burdens."

"One must be mindful of the Will of the Force, through the past, present, and future."

"Yes," said Corina, "that is a fair interpretation, but what about the Jedi code; how do you interpret that?"

"Emotion exists, yet peace dominates. There is ignorance, but knowledge exists as well. One's passion resides in the galaxy, but serenity dominates. While chaos ensues, harmony follows close behind. Death may exist, but the Force is there to ease it," the padawan answers.

"A good interpretation indeed," said Corina, "I feel you are a very astute minded girl. I would like to ask you, how you feel on the whole you have trained?"

((Bleh, I can't type today.))

Amaterasu blushed slightly at the compliment. However, her mental attitude shook her into her master's question. It took her as a slight surprise. She made this amount of progress this quickly? Her mind flooded through different trains of thought passed through. The mixed emotions rose, but she stemmed it long before it could make a physical appearance upon her form.

"I feel, a mix between being guided and being self-taught: so that I could gain knowledge through means that would be remembered later on, to pass on to other Jedi," she said, her voice quivering slightly upon the last word.

"Indeed," said Corina, "and for when the time comes, what do you hope to achieve as a Jedi Knight?"

Achieve as a Jedi Knight... She had much she wants to be able to do as a knight, but knighthood is not a guaranteed position to padawans. "I..." she paused evaluating her number one decision.

"I would like to spread my knowledge to pupils," she finished.

"A fair task," said Corina, smiling. It was one she knew very well indeed. She took a breath, her grin broadening and looked at her padawan, "It is with great honour, that I welcome you fully into the Order, Ameratsu Selena, Jedi Knight of the Republic."

It felt like as though her heart leaped across a dark chasm: her body felt exhilaration has her mind registered what her master has said. Jedi Knight of the Republic: it was as though she achieved a dream she has never considered a life goal, yet she desired it so much.

"Thank you, Master Corina."
