Emily Huene did you see the OOC offer I made Topher Ridge you would have to let it play out in role play so that it would be permanent but I'm sure Mad Dog will support me so long as you agree to support Topher Ridge. We are not trying to cut your legs out from under you completely and we have continuously given you outs in order to save your characters. This would allow us to turn this from a combat to a negotiation however you would have to trust that Topher Ridge and I would be capable of working this to the best possible outcome based upon what has already happened.

This is a shit show. If a thread is open to other factions it doesn't always invite or expect PvP. Work together or not at all.

The Empire has a partnership with the Shadow Syndicate and will respond IC.

As of right now there is no mention, or IC thread, alluding to an alliance between the Shadow Syndicate, and the Empire. To the contrary the Shadow Syndicate currently has missions involving stealing from, and killing members of the Empire. So while I can only assume your intentions are honorable, I cannot find evidence to exclude the idea that this is an OOC decision.

The reasoning for the Protectorate's involvement is because the Shadow Syndicate is leading an open assault on Mandalorian territory. And the Protectorate has a partnership, which is posted on our profile, with the Mandalorians.

There is actually an In Character thread where we've been discussing a partnership and the Sith are also in open assault on Ryloth (and Mandalorian assets) in at least two threads. As the Protectorate are allies of the Empire's enemies and have just destroyed the means with which the Syndicate was supposed to cripple the Jedi's allies, I think there's plenty of reason to start IC hostilities towards the Protectorate.

After reviewing the thread, @Mad Dog , who sent the distress signal? Ryloth is still a fuedal planet with not many advances in technology and given that we, the syndicate, were doing a smash and grab. You're response time was nearly instantaneous considering how early you came into the thread.

Well whatever happens now is pretty much up to @Arclight. I don't see any reason to discuss more about what could or couldn't have been done, or what needs to be done until we get his ruling on the matter. Just my 2 cents lol.

Unless the FL's decide to let us work it out, I suppose you are right and we will have to wait for Archlight
At least we know he is also reviewing this OOC thread as well.

ADMIN RULING: The thread continues as is. The Kilijik Protectorate has broken no rules in attempting to initiate a tactical space battle. For future reference, the time to dispute or assert unwillingness to engage in a tactical battle would have been at the beginning of the attempt. @EmilyHuene by posting again after your ships were attacked, you essentially accepted the tactical battle.

With that said...

Generally in tactical battles should be a little bit more even, for fairness sake.

@Mad Dog Normally exiting hyperspace to immediately begin firing isn't an easily justified action ICly, as it takes time to do things such as power up shield generators and weapons, acquire targets, move into firing position, etc.

@EmilyHuene Unfortunately these are the risks that sometimes happen with open threads. However you still have options. As the thread is death disabled there is no risk of characters dying. At worst you might lose some faction assets, which all things considered isn't too bad seeing as the Syndicate is a criminal faction so isn't dependent on naval power.

I highly suggest you both work together to come to a conclusion that works for everyone.

Noted, and thank you for your help with our issue.

@EmilyHuene @Topher Ridge. To make it so the thread doesn't have an abrupt confusion end. We will allow the Shadow Syndicate to escape with your remaining assets, the CZ-100, and the 8 DRV-12s. We'll still be repossessing the fractured CZ-MCF01 Frigate, I'm sorry but I don't think we can reasonably IC avoid that.

But if you agree, as you haven't yet posted we can make a few edits and allow your DRV-12s to escape.

Let us know here if you agree.

Edit: To clarify, we will edit, if you agree to disengage and escape.
