Smuggler’s Run

A Mynock-class freighter navigated through the middle of an extensive asteroid field. Inside the cargo haul, a human female sat in a corner on the left-hand side. Wearing a makeshift Sahminian oufit the young woman also had facial tattoos that symbolized a more traditional lifestyle than before life in space. Esfir Radin held the blade with one hand KL-01 Sword as she carefully and repeatedly sharpened it with an oiled whetstone in the other. Anyone observing would note the former mountain native’s complete focus on the task at hand.

A few minutes later Esfir stopped and inspected her work. Subsequently, the outcast stood up and got into a fighting stance and swiftly slung the sword from right to left then in the opposite matter. ”Ne xerab, ne hemî.” She commented with mild pride in the Taurus dialect of the Sahminian tongue. The outcast allowed herself a brief grin before becoming guarded.

It has been over two weeks since I left Sahmina behind.

The thought gave Esfir a mixed set of feelings. On one hand the new rebel was relieved to finally get away from her homeworld and was pretty excited to journey the galaxy like she always dreamed. Yet now that dream has come true Radin felt nervous about having left most of everything familiar behind and being on her first mission.

Taking a deep breath and releasing it to calm down Esfir finally sheathed the sword. It’s almost time for the briefing. Need to head for the cockpit now. The Sahminian silently thought in reminder. With that in mind Esfir Radin proceeded to head for that direction.

Freyja sat in the jump seat behind the pilot and co-pilot, her head was slumped against her chest, she was exhausted. Every since they had captured the space platform her life and been going full speed ahead, without a second's thought for her physical and perhaps mental wellbeing. Between bringing the station up to scratch, running errands for the Cell, missions for the Alliance and training as a Jedi Freyja had to find the little moments for a rest.

She was dressed in a pair of black trousers and boots, an off white jacket covered a similar shade shirt, her blaster pistol was clipped to her right leg, a rifle leaning close to the entrance of the cockpit. A snap bang woke her from her slumber, as the ship exited hyperspace, a great field of asteroids appeared before her eyes. Freyja hoped she had picked a good pilot for this mission. "We have arrived Captain." The human male said to her, he looked over his shoulder to see if she was awake, but quickly turned back when met with her stare. "I guessed that." She retorted a little too harshly, but she wasn't one to apologise. Tycho and the new girl would be up there shortly to run through things. Freyja gave a little stretch from her seat before she opened out her holo-pad and waited for the others.

Tycho had spent the entire time the ship had been in hyperspace looking out the viewport. His gear is already ready for whatever the mission is. Lately a lot has been going through his mind ever since the mission to disable the Network Access on Nar Shaddaa. Perhaps too much. Way too much.

His eyes went from the viewport to the woman. What was her name? Esfir? Well he watched her for a moment sharpen her blade oh so carefully. The criminal stretched his arms over his head. The man will then stand up just as the ship came out lf the hyperdrive jump. Now it is time to head to the cockpit..

The rogue looked back to the new recruit to see if she is coming. Seeing that she is, Tycho looked back ahead. Pressing the button on the control panel that opens the door. He stepped inside then placed his hand in the doorway to keep the door from closing on the woman. He glanced over to Freyja, "Don't let her scare you." He will advice Esfir as he looked back to the woman following him.

To be completely honest with herself, Esfir still did not know what to think of these strangers. Granted they were compatriots now, but the Sahminian hardly knew a thing about any of them. Yet here she was thrown into a perilous task. Personally the mountain woman loved a challenge, but she felt very reserved about these people. Hopefully this briefing will give me some idea of who they are and more details on the mission exactly.

Of course when reaching the cockpit she found it opened. Quietly shocked Esfir soon noted Tycho keeping the door opens with his hand on the control to the wall.

This one has some manners.

Ever so briefly the outcast nodded before stepping inside. It was in that moment Tyco was quietly advised her not to be intimidated by the mission leader Freyja Storm. Choosing to maintain her silence Esfir stood behind and crossed her arms over the chest.

Her expression was cool and determined on the outside but inwardly Radin’s nervousness remained. The self-exiled fighter did not want any of the other rebels knowing it. Don’t say anything unless spoken too. Be as professional as possible like Jhath taught you. She reminded herself.

Freyja let out a little smile as Tycho's words drifted through the ship and into the cockpit. The woman was coming fast and she had a moment to choose to either fall into Tycho's description of the big bad monster or to make him the fool and be overly nice to the woman. Turning to look at her as she entered her mind made the decision for her. 'Monster', it was easier and got better results no matter what those at High Command said.

"Esfir correct?" She said to the woman as she turned to face her. "Take a seat, Tycho can stand." She said with a flat expression. Touching a few buttons on the holo-pad, she activated the Holo-projector from its back. A light blue image of a particularly nasty looking human appeared before them all. "Taj Meruk." She began, "Known smuggler, arms dealer, drug trafficker and an all around good guy. He is our target today ladies." She flicked the pad bringing up another image of their intended target, a military frigate. "Meruk has information about the location of a number of high-grade military hardware including yours truly." Freyja touched another button turning off the projector and placing the pad down the side of her chair. "The Alliance are in the need of a little punching power and this is our ticket. So let's show the Duros how us humans play." She finished with a large smile.

When Esfir walked into the room, Tycho removed his finger from the button keeping the door open. With a soft hiss the door closed. He did note that there is only one other chair at the table. No matter he will stand and let the new recruit have the seat. Being as restless as he is; the criminal has the preference to stand at the moment. If Esfir looked to him, he will make a gesture for the woman to take the seat. He moved to stand at the wall right next to the table, placing his rifle carefully against the wall then crossing his arms as Freyja began briefing them.

Tycho watched as a hologram of a nasty looking human named Taj Meruk. The man tilted his head a bit as he studied the image. He may not have met the man during his own time as a criminal, but he heard of how nasty this person is from others who encountered him.

He would have most likely missed part of what Freyja said as Tycho's mind wondered. That was until the hologram was taken down.. Though it was not hard to figure out what the goals are, find the man so they can get the information out of him. The criminal nodded, "Let's go play then." He will say as Tycho pushed himself away from the wall, picking up the rifle he had leaning against the wall. Shouldering his weapon.
