It was just another day in Socorro. The dry, arid climate was likely to burn off your skin if you weren't careful, and if that didn't get to you, looking at someone the wrong way just might: most everyone here carried blasters.
The place was harsh, hot, and horrible, and Vash loved it.
It was liberating in a way, to be among people not afraid to take their lifes into their own hands and do what they damn well pleased. And to be a part of this was even better.
So he was in a good mood when he got out of his little room in the back of one of the most popular cantinas this side of the planet, where lots of spacers (mostly smugglers and worse) spent their time when they weren't occupied with more profitable bussiness.
The Echani had been working as a bartender for almost a week now. Listening to their woes and their stories, sometimes offering a smile and some advice. A few were rough around the edges, but most everyone liked him, in no small part because he'd been influencing them with the Force, just slightly. It was a necessity, for the good of the Alliance: you never knew when you'd find people willing to join the rebellion, and he had met one or two who seemed discontent enough to be recruited.
But all that had just been a distraction in the end: today was the day he was meeting with his new partner in crime. Literally.
He took another look at the holo showing her picture, to make sure he'd get the right person when she walked into the cantina. It wasn't an ugly sight at all, though her scars suggested she'd seen some action and lived to tell about it. He could certainly do worse as far as criminal partners went.
