A Fresh Start (Garrett Swenson's Training)

[glswenson]

Garrett flowed through with the movement of his lightsaber, letting himself stay in front of it as he arched his back to the right then he hit the ground and rolled left, out of the lightsaber's path.

Garrett used the momentum of the roll to horizontally spin to his feet, his lightsaber shooting out of the spin towards his master's waist.

 

[JMocks]

'What is up with you rolling and spinning,' Josh asked as he simply knocked Garrett's attack away. He was then upon Garrett again as he rose, both hands gripping his saber, locking his wrists, he started to do multiple powerful downward strikes.

Garrett rolled away from the downward strikes, letting the lightsaber stab into the grab beside him each time.
As Josh's hands were coming down Garrett struck for his forearms, as his leg sweeped for the front of Josh's leg, which would push him further into the attack.

 

[JMocks]

Once Garrett rolled again Josh used the Force to push him against the wall. 'This is a learning exercise. I'm supposed to be teaching you Shii-Cho. How are you going to be able to successfully defend or attack if you keep rolling and evading my attacks?'

 

[glswenson]

"Right.." Garrett said and got into his stance.
He was so used to just letting his instincts take over. He got into the stance and began to slowly circle around his now opponent.

 

[JMocks]

'Don't get me wrong Padawan. You are obviously good at evading attacks. But right now, we're supposed to be focusing on teaching you, Shii-Cho,' he said as Garrett circled him. 'Now. Show me what you got.'

 

[glswenson]

"Right.. I don't mean to." Garrett stepped forward slightly then backed off.
He brought his lightsaber back further over his shoulder then quickly brought it straight up, then to his left and went into a strong diagonal strike to his right.

 

[JMocks]

Josh brought his blade up to meet Garrett's before his blade could complete its path. Once in the blade lock, he used his strength to drive his Padawan back. He pushed Garrett's saber, spun his right wrist, and drove his saber down towards the middle part of Garrett's body.

As Garrett came out of his stumble with one hand he swung his right arm up to meet his master's lightsaber as he brought his left hand forward, palm flat and threw a Force Push at Josh.

 

[JMocks]

The Force Push pushed Josh slightly back, but he used Force Speed to be right back in his Padawan's face. He swung his saber from right to left, then a downward slash from his left shoulder to right hip, followed by a straight forward poke aimed for his midsection.

Garrett saw a flash of blue light and quickly jumped back, planted off his hand, then tumbled to his right.
He looked up to his left and saw the lightsaber just inches away from his face, where he was just a moment before.

He was quickly back on his feet and jumped high into the air, brought his lightsaber all the way vertical across his back and as he came down towards his master he swung his lightsaber down as quickly as possible.

Once Garrett went air born, Josh used Force Push and shot him against another wall. The kid had a habit of leaving his feet. And he was going to break that. 'You do know when you fly through the air, you put yourself more in danger. Once you leave your feet, one can simply Force Push you to oblivion,' he said as he paced back and forth, glaring at Garrett. 'Now. Again.'

 

[glswenson]

Garrett's face tightened up in frustration. He was sure there would be some way to be able to stay airborne and counteract force powers, he just didn't know it yet.
He got back into his stance then looked back at the wall. He shot his hand back and force pushed against the wall, propelling himself at a high speed towards his master, he kicked off on his left foot to shoot to the right of Josh and swung for his back.

 

[JMocks]

Once Garrett shot towards Josh using the Force to propel himself off the wall, Josh could either do two things. One, put up a small Force Barrier right as Garrett got close, causing an immediate stop. Two, he could Force Jump right over his attack. He opted for option one. As soon as Garrett got within five yards, he used Force Barrier. Garrett smacked the barrier. 'That look liked it hurt,' he said with a chuckle. 'Now. Lets just focus on lightsaber combat, shall we? Our mission is being delayed as we speak.'

 

[glswenson]

Garrett shook his head and began to rub his forehead.
"Right."
He got back in his stance and studied his opponent, waiting for him to make an attack, he was ready to prove himself.

 

[JMocks]

'Padawan. I think you should attack me. I have been the aggressor. Now. Show me what you have offensively. Like I said earlier, your ability to evade attacks is good. But if you have no offense, you can't run forever. Now. Lets end this. Give me everything you got.'

 

[glswenson]

Garrett let himself focus, he let out a slow exhale of breath as he studied his opponent, looking for any possible weak areas.
His lightsaber was out in front of him, by his chest. Garrett brought his lightsaber out to the right and struck for his master's mid-section.

 

[JMocks]

Josh watched as his Padawan striked. He took his lightsaber out to his left, and came in towards his midsection. Maneuvering his saber, Josh turned his saber vertically upside down to his left, to block the incoming attack. He then attacked by maneuvering his lightsaber from the vertical down position, behind his head, brining his saber down with speed and power.

Garrett strafed to his right, letting the lightsaber come down beside him and brought his lightsaber straight back, into a stabbing position, then shot it towards Joshua's neck.

 

[JMocks]

Brining his lightsaber quicly back to the defensive posture after Garrett evaded his attck, Josh was able to easily swat away the attack and make a stab towards Garrett's own midsection.
