Dude they do fundraising, charity work, and volunteerism. I watched a video where one of them dressed as Darth Vader visited a kid with cancer and colored with him. The kid was like " I can't believe it my dreams have come true," or something. Don't just make fun of them because they dress up in costume.

And yeah, 501st seems ok, I would never do that though, I'd rather just run around in the costumes with a few buddies on a crowded street and reanact the scene between Luke and Vader. I'd get a kick out of that.
