Korriban
Things needed to change, for too long the Sith had been content with mediocrity. The Empire was gone, the Dark Lord was dead, so called Sith Lords were being made a mockery of by the Mandalorians for the whole Galaxy to see. And some were even known associates of Jedi.

No, the Order itself was doomed if something wasn't done to put things in order. She had tried to rally the Order, but it seemed like they had all been turned into sheep. No, she would need weight behind her words. Weight and authority that she did not have. That was why she was here, on ancient and holy grounds. To change that.

The message had already gone out on the former Imperial frequencies, almost every Sith in the Galaxy might have heard it. Others as well.

A simple message, yet a powerful one.

"Darth Inheris, I challenge you to Kaggath. Answer my challenge or forfeit your rank." The time and place had been included with the message. All she could do now was wait. She looked around at what had once been a vast auditorium. The roof and walls were long gone, but the numerous pillars that had lined the halls were still here. She would fight her here, and become a new pillar to support the Sith.

It would be the first time any member of the Sith Order had publically seen her in a long, long time. With wave after wave of revelation and reorganization that had met the Sith in recent times she had remained consciously on the back end of it all, scrambling to hold whatever she could together as star systems fell or fled, or were left to their own devices following the current Emperor's latest decree.

What she had accomplished for it all, Inheris didn't know these days.

But, in her own person she had built much, and come far since her younger days on Kuat. An edifice of power and position to be envied in the Empire. She was still proud of that, but pride always came before the fall. And today marked an occasion where it was to be tested. A Kaggath.

Whatever legacy she might leave, this would frame much of it. Either confirming her return to the stage, or a brutal end to her quiet years, perhaps noted as a glorified administrator of a Councillor. Inheris could not, would not accept that for herself. And so, she came. Answered the call and came to Korriban. To this decaying structure that Kaye Antares had chosen as their dueling place.

So be it,

"I have no interest in games like this, I have played more than my share" she called across the stadium, lightsaber already ignited and held before her, her armour donned. She didn't bring her pistols, she would fight like a Sith had meant to, blade in hand and with the Force drawn to her, something she already drew to herself,

"Challenge me then"

Kaye shook her head as the Darth finally showed up. So off all things it was this that had made her show up. Not the death of the Empire, not the loss of much of the Order’s power, not the changes spreading throughout the Galaxy. No, it was a threat to her own power that had drawn her forth. Very well, at least that had worked.

As the Darth called Kaye to challenge her, she didn’t say anything in response. Instead she closed herself down in the Force, hiding her presence as best as she could and slipped behind a pillar. As she did so she drew her dagger and threw it with Force assisted strength at the Darth’s unarmored lower abdomen before shutting herself down in the Force and moving to hide. The hall was littered with pillars, a central walkway left a clearing a dozen feet in width, but the rest of the hall was littered with pillar every two meters from each other. Kaye had every intention to use that to her advantage.

She could not meet the Darth head on, but striking from the shadows, hidden from the Darth’s greater strength, Kaye could run this fight on her terms. So she ran from one pillar to another, relying on the restrictive line of sight obstructing any line of attack for the Darth. So she would hide in the shadows, but if in the remote likelyhood her opening attack hit, and the Darth made no attempts to attack or seems sufficiently effected by it, Kaye would circle around her and emerge from the pillars from behind her with her lightsaber in hand and sever her head in one swift motion. But only if the Darth gave her that opening, otherwise she would stick with her original plan and stick to the shadows.

Kaye had expected a challenge, but it looked like the Force was willing to subdue itself to her will. The Darth, no, not Darth. The pretender, for no true Darth would fall so easily. And fall she did. The dagger buried itself into her gut, the pain and disorientation that came with the attack giving Kaye all the time she needed to make her move. Circling around the woman as she tried to keep her guts from spilling out, Kaye sprang out from behind the pillars, only now she was behind her opponent. Her blade sprang to life even as she rushed in, swinging through the air and effortlessly severing her head from her blueing corpse.

She came to a stop there, blade momentarily held out before her in perfect stance as a severed head rolled down the dusty floor and came to a stop near her feet. She looked down, face impassive as lifeless eyes stared up at her. She didn't notice it there, for her focus was on the Force, and the shift she could feel across her. She had done it, improbable as it had seemed she had done it. And the Force, the Dark Side, approved. Even now she could sense the mantle of the Dark Side settle upon her.

She looked down at the body lying at her feet and simply turned around and began walking away. There was one last step left now, to accept the name she could hear being whispered in her ears. But not yet, not here. There was something she had to do, someone she had to seek. Then, and only then, would her ascension be complete.

As she was leaving the ruined hall, she turned around and reached out with the Force, pulling down a pillar to set off a chain reaction that brought them all down one after the other. She walked in silence towards her ship as the arena was engulfed in a giant cloud of dust, a new tomb created for her vanquished foe. She didn't look back, she was focused on what lay ahead.

Ashajontû kotswinot itsu nuyak.

In the distance she spotted a second ship, and a smile appeared on her lips. She had taken the dead woman's life, her title, why not her ship.
