They weren't meant to be anything big like the Hutts, was considering a political agenda tie in, but it isn't actually important to the overall story. You can do whatever you want with them.

Actually that particular thread is for a specific purpose, to introduce my character to her brother (who is played by Jake.)

But when you get your Sith up and running let me know, and we can easily work out a new thread. I'd love to get her more involved with the Sith.
