Sith aren't... the sith are not based off followers of Bodhidharma, they appear to be far more in line with greek and egyptian sorcerers. Sith sorcery and the abiliy to destroy stars, become conventionally immortal and drain all life from a planet go somewhat against the idea. Mass sacrifice, as well no real enlightenment themes other than the discovery and unlocking of your own true potential.

Though i believe the force itself is left open intentionally, you can draw millions of different parallels with it as you see fit. I, personally, draw a lot more of a very, very, very, very, very, very, oversimplified version of Kabbalah. Which again you can draw those lines too, though unike Buddhism, I think the kabbalah approach explains a lot more about the dark side of the force than the ideals of Gautama. Though on an entirely unrelated note: THE ETERNAL BUDDAHS ARE FREAKING SCARY!!!

sadly that gets lost in translation for over simplification. that also said WHAT that energy is has not been eeeeeeh....quantified and analyzed because it was believed that humanity would grow to understand the universe better- as it is now it's mostly views as exactly what science knows of, and is still open to other forms...hell even though he's of his own sect, the dali lama's favorite subject in the world is quantum physics... if anything it helps make sense of the things that have been theorized and talked about for thousands of years ^_^ mind you Im an anthropologist and a soto monk, not a physicist though my 7 year old could go on for days with his friends in the astronomical society and did actually once with one of the mathematicians here at one of the universities >.<

well a few things on that: disagree your suppose to a shut mind never learns.... Jedi, and subsequently the force are based directly on the followers of Bodhidharma, and is variations of Zen philosophy- which is what we stick with the intended jedi, that being said one has to also remember that the philosophy of Buddhism ( because it in itself is not a religion it's a supplemental philosophy adopted and applied into a regional religion , so the taoist aspects behind the shaolin region may want to fine line things slightly but the basic concept of the universal energies is present in all sects of Buddhism, and as a whole qi is considered just that, its of the self, as well as all things, because in the philosophies there is no us or them or you or I, no tree no rock, because we are all of the same stuff, all from the same place...
