The sudden, relentless and seemingly unprovoked Sith attack on crime boss Preef Callo had a lasting effect on Kel Dryden. Once driven by ambition, he now saw that the higher he climbed, and the more time and effort he put in, the worse it could turn out for him. Doing your own thing, staying beneath the notice of the powers that be, and not having a big stake in anything was the way to go. Kel ceased his involvement in the bigger syndicate business. He roamed the galaxy aboard his trusty Black Swift, taking odd jobs here and there, and making use of the Sector Ranger badge he had stolen. And although his biggest achievement was "being a guy who once helped Preef Callo", it paid off to stay away from the squabbles associated with "big moves". For a not-so-terrible scoundrel, Kel lived a long and happy life.
