Alanna arrived in the current time period by accidentally traveling through time via a hyperspace malfunction, and the last thousand-plus years, to her, only passed like a few hours as a result when she came out of hyperspace.

Now, there may be other ways to get a similar effect, primarily through stasis pods. But I like the time-travel bit being Alanna's "thing".

Not exactly. The good thing about setting the RP so far into the future is that a specific knowledge of the actual lore isn't entirely needed, though some things from the movies, such as the true purpose of the Clone Wars, seems to be common knowledge to at least some people by now-- my main character, Alanna, is actually from the Clone Wars era and was filled in on some the later events of the OT and such by the person who found her.

As well, some Jedi and Sith seem to at least try to understand the histories of their Orders, so your potential ex-Sith could know about events from centuries in the past if you so chose.

Oh yeah, you totally can. Depending on what your character's background is though, you may have to get Mod permission. That'd be for like your previous rank, or something similar.

I've been RPing on forums since 2008, and Star Wars is one topic I have a lot of passion for; my best Internet-friend Praxius is sort of like you in that he doesn't know much about Star Wars, so I've been trying to give him pointers and help when needed.
