And about your Jedi, it depends on the circumstances, if she REALLY had to use her lightsaber to kill someone, if she even looked for the other option. Deenar would look for another way, but he would kill if forced to.

13 years old is not mature enough to know when the use of a lethal force is appropriate and when isn't. Deenar doesn't want to kill anyone, he is looking for a non killing ways, that is why he does not need a lithtsaber yet. He's just a kid.
