Hi all. I wanted to give you an update on some things we decided in the think tank today. Note that we probably won’t do this everyday, but I do want to give you regular updates since that’s something we’ve failed on in the past with previous think tanks.

Here are the big items we decided today:

  • The Alliance for a New Republic. The Rebels will not just be made up of former members of the Galactic Alliance. Instead, it will be anyone who wants to join and oppose the Sith. Whether that’s former Alliance soldiers, Imperial defectors, and more, they’re all welcome to join. What’s interesting is that their first goal, defeating the Sith, will be shared between all of them, but their end goals may not be. Many will want to have a new Republic/Alliance type of government, hence the name. Others, though, may want to return to the time of the non-Sith Emperor (along with another, benevolent Republic/Alliance, just like it was before the Sith returned 11 years ago). On that note...
  • Imperial Knights. The Imperial Knights will officially move out of the independent factions board and become a Rebel cell. Like all Rebel cells, the Imperial Knights leader (currently Castiel) will sit on the Command Council for the Alliance for a New Republic once it’s formed. Also like the others, the Imperial Knights will have a great deal of autonomy over its own affairs. I say that since I know there may be some concerned Imperial Knights, so don’t worry -- your leader has a huge say in the direction of the united faction, and the faction won’t be bossing you around. Given that we’re talking about the Imperial Knights so much in the think tank, we have brought Castiel in as a member of the think tank.
  • The New Jedi Order. As we’ve said before, the Jedi will not be part of the Alliance for a New Republic to begin with. Instead, they will start on their own and will need to earn the trust of the Rebels.
  • Yuuzhan Vong. We have officially decided that the Yuuzhan Vong will remain on the banned species list and will not become usable on the site. The technology is just too ridiculous to us, and it never made much sense given how they ended in canon anyway.
  • Mandalorians. This is the big one. Per Vencu’s suggestion, and based on an idea some admins floated about a year ago, the Mandalorians will no longer be a main faction. This is not just something Corden decided, but something the think tank unanimously agreed on. Instead, the current Mandalore, Corden Vencu, will die, the faction will fracture and each clan that wants to will become an independent faction. However, MandalMotors will remain and will use its influence to ensure that the Mandalorian territory remains Mandalorian.

Given that there have always been disagreements about what the Mandalorians should be, this lets each clan run things their own way as their own independent faction. Additionally, it was becoming clear that in an era that will be increasingly dependent on espionage, intelligence gathering, and guerilla warfare rather than battles, a purely military and warrior faction would be a lot less relevant as a main faction. None of this, though, precludes the Mandalorians from coming together again in the future. We will have more information on this moving forward, since Lavish, Vencu, and the rest of the admin team can help the clans get set up as indie factions.
So far, this new era is shaping up to be insanely cool. It’s in no way a carbon copy of Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi, but it feels like them. The general theme and feel is the same. For the first time on SWRP, even counting when we had a Republic Remnant in the first timeline, this is a rag tag rebellion taking on the might of an evil empire. This is Star Wars at its essence, and I believe it’s going to be the finest story we’ve ever told.

Keep checking back here for updates on all the latest time skip developments!

Yay... Jedi and mandos are in disarray, new rebel factions left and right... sounds like a bomb time :3

Well... I'm a little bummed, but on the other hand the perspective of individual clan development is quite intriguing.

@TJ and Derpy

I'm already talking to Silver about a Greater Unified Mandalorian Clan or something like that.Would you guys want in?

Also, at first I was shocked. But then I realized what awesome story plans you can make

The Jedi are stable, not in disarray. They simply have to re-earn the trust of the Rebels after they fled Coruscant before the battle.

I'm fairly certain the purpose of this decision was to separate the Mandalorian clans. >.>

As was I. I'm reminded somewhat of the KOTOR Mandalorian's in a way. And yes I would probably most likely be interested.

Theres several minor clans that I'd like to see unified. I'm basically talking about Sornell, Bralor and Marren. Two minors absorbed into a Major.

EDIT: @Mandodudes Got it. I'll keep you posted

Wouldn't it be more fun to make different independent clans and then play out there eventual unification? As opposed to directly starting off with one unified super-clan?

Pretty much this. Just recreating the Mandos as one indie faction seems really meh.

People have said they like the Mando civil war concept so this could also spur something like that.

Its not one super clan. Marren and Sornell are both one member each...me. It wouldn't be much of a merging. Theres more than four Mandalorian clans, and I'm not even sure if Bralor is on for this. For now it's just a bunch of Minor clans together.

Basically, I'm looking for a place for my clans to hole up with. If a few others wanna come along, why not?

Will Mandalorian territory still be under 'Mandalorian' control or will it be assimilated by the Imperium?

I answered this in the first post.
