Hi all. I wanted to give you an update on some things we decided in the think tank today. Note that we probably won’t do this everyday, but I do want to give you regular updates since that’s something we’ve failed on in the past with previous think tanks.
Here are the big items we decided today:

Here are the big items we decided today:
- The Alliance for a New Republic. The Rebels will not just be made up of former members of the Galactic Alliance. Instead, it will be anyone who wants to join and oppose the Sith. Whether that’s former Alliance soldiers, Imperial defectors, and more, they’re all welcome to join. What’s interesting is that their first goal, defeating the Sith, will be shared between all of them, but their end goals may not be. Many will want to have a new Republic/Alliance type of government, hence the name. Others, though, may want to return to the time of the non-Sith Emperor (along with another, benevolent Republic/Alliance, just like it was before the Sith returned 11 years ago). On that note...
- Imperial Knights. The Imperial Knights will officially move out of the independent factions board and become a Rebel cell. Like all Rebel cells, the Imperial Knights leader (currently Castiel) will sit on the Command Council for the Alliance for a New Republic once it’s formed. Also like the others, the Imperial Knights will have a great deal of autonomy over its own affairs. I say that since I know there may be some concerned Imperial Knights, so don’t worry -- your leader has a huge say in the direction of the united faction, and the faction won’t be bossing you around. Given that we’re talking about the Imperial Knights so much in the think tank, we have brought Castiel in as a member of the think tank.
- The New Jedi Order. As we’ve said before, the Jedi will not be part of the Alliance for a New Republic to begin with. Instead, they will start on their own and will need to earn the trust of the Rebels.
- Yuuzhan Vong. We have officially decided that the Yuuzhan Vong will remain on the banned species list and will not become usable on the site. The technology is just too ridiculous to us, and it never made much sense given how they ended in canon anyway.
- Mandalorians. This is the big one. Per Vencu’s suggestion, and based on an idea some admins floated about a year ago, the Mandalorians will no longer be a main faction. This is not just something Corden decided, but something the think tank unanimously agreed on. Instead, the current Mandalore, Corden Vencu, will die, the faction will fracture and each clan that wants to will become an independent faction. However, MandalMotors will remain and will use its influence to ensure that the Mandalorian territory remains Mandalorian.
Given that there have always been disagreements about what the Mandalorians should be, this lets each clan run things their own way as their own independent faction. Additionally, it was becoming clear that in an era that will be increasingly dependent on espionage, intelligence gathering, and guerilla warfare rather than battles, a purely military and warrior faction would be a lot less relevant as a main faction. None of this, though, precludes the Mandalorians from coming together again in the future. We will have more information on this moving forward, since Lavish, Vencu, and the rest of the admin team can help the clans get set up as indie factions.
