Weisheng Tai-Shan Winters
There are four things in this life that should never be forgotten.
Four things I swore never to forget.
Honor. Duty. Justice. Compassion.
Ever since I was a cub, I have lived my life by those four principles.
Those basic concepts have been the framework upon which my very essence has been carefully constructed over my Thirty-Three years of life. They have carried me through the fiercest of storms and sustained me in the darkest of nights. Even when all hope seemed lost, I remained strong because of who I am at my core.
Those principles are so interwoven with my soul that if I were to abandon them, I would fall into dishonor and shame.
Four years ago to this day, I abandoned those values.
I set myself on a course for dishonor when I lost someone I cared deeply for.
She was a fellow Jedi Knight named Kira.
Kira had been in pursuit of a ring of spice dealers, but they laid a trap for her.
She was captured and died a slow and agonizing death.
Her torture was a message, intended to frighten away those who would oppose them.
But all their message did was incite my anger.
I sought out those responsible for Kira’s murder, and in a fit of sorrow and hatred, I struck down each one of them. Even when the last of the group surrendered, I forsook my honor for the fleeting satisfaction of vengeance, and murdered them in cold blood.
On that day, my actions were nothing less than shameful and disgusting.
As fate would have it, there was to be no punishment for my actions. The investigation into the deaths of Kira’s murderers was brief, and did not reveal the fact that I had killed two of them well after they had surrendered. As such, it did not reveal that for a brief moment, I had succumbed to the Dark Side of the Force.
I was quietly praised for removing the threat posed to society by the spice dealers.
I hid my shame so well that no-one, not even my old Master, realized what I had done.
But I could not hide my guilt from myself.
It ate away at me, it tore at my soul with claws of ice and chilled me to the core.
Eventually it began to affect my actions. I became distant and cold, I began to have difficulty showing compassion to the troubles of others. Self-conflict set in, and internal strife began to consume me just as my guilt had.
After a year of attempting to hide my shame, I finally snapped.
I could no longer function with the sense of Compassion and Honor I had prided myself upon for so long. My shame and guilt weighed too heavily on my shoulders for me to go on as I once had. And so, I did the only thing I could think of.
I left.
I abandoned my robes and light saber in my quarters. I think, on some subconscious level, I connected my guilt to those two symbols of service in the Jedi Order. Leaving them was an attempt to escape part of my shame. All I took with me was a cortosis-weave katana I had acquired during my travels, a pair of pistols, and the clothes on my back.
From there, I began to wander. I promised myself that one day I would regain my honor and lay down my guilt, and return to the Order. But I had forgotten that guilt and shame is not someone one merely discards. It is something that takes time and effort.
Now, three years of wandering and fighting later, I have yet to shake my remorse.
I have managed to hide it. I suppress it, lock it away in the recesses of my mind.
A foolish course of action, yes, but what else is there available to me?
I have found no catalyst by which I can rid myself of my shame, and I cannot live with it constantly weighing me down.
There is no choice but to attempt to move on.
Perhaps, one day, I will be able to fulfill my hopes and return to the Jedi with my honor restored. Perhaps one day, my dreams will no longer be haunted with nightmares of what I have done. But for now I am left with nothing. Nothing but the path of a Rogue Jedi.

The Starfyre is a heavily modified and customized two-deck Escort Freighter that was originally designed to transport small but extremely valuable cargoes or VIP’s. As such, it is equipped with military grade weapons and shields, and very powerful engines that enable the vessel to outrun anything short of a starfighter, though admittedly she is too heavy to be considered maneuverable.
Her primary armament is a trio of heavy laser cannon turrets, each equipped with twin-linked RAC-74 Heavy Laser Cannons. Two of the turrets rest atop her hull, while the third is a retractable belly gun. Each gun turret can be controlled by a relatively effective on-board targeting computer, or operated manually via either a gunner’s seat in the cockpit or a gunnery seat tucked inside each turret between the guns.
Supplementing the cannons is a missile pod, concealed as a ram-scoop atop the ship’s hull. The pod is loaded with ten heavy concussion missiles. She also has a few surprises tucked away besides her main guns and missile pod; a hidden automatic quad-barreled blaster cannon turret is tucked between the twin engine banks, and will automatically engage and fend off anything it detects is trying to attack the ship.
The ship’s entire cockpit module has been extensively modified as well, and while the ability for the module to eject and function as a short-ranged shuttle capable of atmospheric entry is a standard feature, the emergency hyper drive installed upon the module is not standard at all.
How Weisheng came to possess the vessel - which had been modified into its current status by a infamous circle of smugglers [though the gaudy paint job was of Sheng’s design] - is largely unknown, and when questioned about it, he’ll merely shrug and reply, ‘Her old owner didn’t need her where he was going.
