It was the perks of being a Layman, you put your work in, do a good job, and the organization rewards you. This was such the case, Kincaid has been working on a project for quite sometime. The Organization he worked for kept track of peoples ambitions and invested in them, just like how members invested in the organization. It was bigger than a petty street gang, that took a while to sink into Kincaid's mind. The hatch of his ship opened with a hiss, stepping out his eyes blinked, he had to give his bosses some credits. What seemed to be like a string of forms and homes in the boonies was a network of safe house connected by an under city. Of course if you were not in the know such passages would be unknown to a blind eye. Before he could see anything a few young men approached him, seeming to blend in perfectly with the population Kincaid had a hard time making them out due to the sunlight. The downside of spending time in a ship for a few days, it took a while for your eyes to adjust.
After the glare ended Kincaid could see a kindly balding older gentleman before him. The man grabbed his hand and shook it. "Kincaid, it is a pleasure to meet you, please come in. We have a meal waiting for you inside. Please excuse my sons, our community is very zealous in protecting our investments." Kincaid smiled, when he first became a Layman he was uncomfortable with everyone knowing him, but that is how it worked. The network was tight, you were seen weak if you did not read up on the Laymen coming into your territory. If you are good to the Retrade they are good to you, it is kinda like a family, except if you mess up, they will spank you with a few blaster bolts to the head. "Can I ask what you guys grow here?" The Old man laughed as he lead Kincaid into the large farm house. "You may, but you will probably not get the answer you want," the Old Man said, Kincaid eyed the group of young gentleman as he passed them and entered the house. Suddenly he was overwhelmed with the smell of fresh food, Kincaid remembered how hungry he was, out of habit he never brought much food on his journeys saving the space for months of bland rations. He could not help but feel his mouth water.
Entering a large dining room he saw a feast already prepared, along with other people who were obviously off worlders. "Sir, the hospitality is very appre," the Old Man interrupted him with a laugh. "Nonesense, we are all family here, even you Kincaid, please sit and enjoy, I will see to your supplies they will be fully loaded in a few hours. If you wish to rest we can set you up with a guest room down stairs." With that the Old Man vanished and he was surrounded by strangers. Kincaid looked around awkwardly nodding to a few of the patrons politely and before saying any words began to fill his plate.
