Astra was surprised that Jey seemed to admit defeat in his argument, or at the very least a flaw. She couldn't help but smile, not because she was right, she had always known she was, but because there was still hope for Jey. She would make a Jedi out of him yet. "No, no, I understand." She said when he tried to justify his feelings. "It's not stupid, a warped idea maybe but grief does strange things to the mind." She replied truthfully. He would be experiencing a whole range of negative emotions after his parents' deaths, guilt, anger, sorrow... But she hoped one day he would find peace within himself and with the Jedi Order that was such a large part of his heritage.
After Jey expressed his feelings on what had happened earlier, Astra waited, sensing that there was more, although she didn't know what. When Jey revealed that he wanted to open himself up to the Force and requested help in doing do, a wide smile spread across Astra's face. "Of course! I'd be glad to." She replied. Although Astra would ideally have Jey join the Order to learn about the Force, she was just happy he was taking this first step and when the time was right she would try and introduce him to the Order again. She wouldn't agree with his decision not to join the Jedi since it seemed to be based on a fallacy but she would respect it nonetheless as she couldn't justify invalidating his feelings.
At least one good thing had come out of this situation, she may have lost one life but hopefully would save another. It was undeniable that Jey had potential in him to be a Jedi, it was just a matter of whether he would accept the mantle he had been rejecting for so long. Ultimately it would be a decision he would have to make for himself but she hoped that with careful guidance she could prompt him to reconsider. It was too soon to tell but this seemed like it could be the start of something new.
